Shortly after a congressional hearing yesterday morning, True the Vote founder Catherine Engelbrecht filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Elijah Cummings. The complaint alleges the Congressman intimidated her and and her group. The Congressman had done some cable news shows alleging incorrect facts about True the Vote. In the hearing yesterday, Cummings accused True the Vote of racism saying that they were trying to suppress the vote.

“Franky, Megyn, the thought of having to sit before my accuser and be silent in the face of what he did was unconscionable. He [Cummings] filed over a period of months in 2012, he filed three letters that he sent to me asserting that he was opening an investigation. He sent this on House Oversight and Government Reform letterhead.”

It’s obvious what is happening within the Texas gubernatorial race and Democrat candidate Wendy Davis.     Sunlight upon the “real” life story of Ms. Davis has shown her life story narrative was foundationally false, so now she is obfuscating and trying to find niche issues which will afford her some electoral support.

The humorous aspect is all the new platform adjustments, the politically convenient changes, are diametrically opposite from the party she is a member of.  She is floundering aimlessly, and trying to position herself in favor of the voters.

Rising Democratic star and gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis has joined her top Republican rival in supporting a proposed “open carry” law. It would allow people with concealed handgun licenses to wear a pistol on their hip, in full view, while in public.

Davis has said she supports expanding gun rights in Texas. But in a statement to The Associated Press, she said that includes open-carry — a position that puts her at odds with her own party but could keep her from alienating gun rights advocates in a deeply conservative state where the Second Amendment is sacrosanct.

This is remarkable, the latest in a string of rightward moves that must have the more honest among Davis’s backers wondering why they’re bothering. (more…)

The testimony today on capitol hill was blood boiling to say the least. During hearings about IRS targeting of conservative groups, which unlike President Obama’s claim appears fraught with political scandal, some of the victims began to lay out the details of the attacks they have endured.

One of those victims is Mrs. Catherine Engelbrecht. Catherine Eghelbrecht is a conservative activist, Tea Party member and founder of True the Vote. Mrs. Engelbrecht, outlined how she has been the specific target of FOUR federal agencies (The FBI, IRS, ATF and OSHA) along with one Texas State agency (EPA).

Prior to her founding of True The Vote, as a simple business person, she was never on the federal radar. However, as soon as she engaged in advocacy for her beliefs she was targeted by the “weaponization of government”. 14 IRS audits of personal and business finances, 4 times visited by the FBI as a ‘domestic risk’, 3 times visited by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, and two audits by The Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He didn’t pay the: “may I please protect myself tax” !   So now the victim is a criminal.

CHICAGO – A 44-year-old man on crutches fatally shot one of two intruders who came charging at him Friday morning in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, according to police.

Mario Viramontes, 31, was declared dead on the scene in 2000 block of West 21st Street at 9:22 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police were called to the scene at 9:09 a.m. for a burglary, and when they arrived, they found that a “male offender” who had been trying to commit a burglary had been shot by the homeowner, said Police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.

The 44-year-old homeowner was sleeping when his frightened 18-year-old daughter woke him up, then told him that she heard noises and thought someone was breaking into the apartment behind theirs, according to a police report. (more…)

WASHINGTON DC – The Democratic Party’s biggest Super PAC, recently retooled as an early pro-Hillary Clinton effort, will sit out the midterm elections this year.

A spokesman with the group, Priorities USA Action, confirmed to BuzzFeed on Wednesday night that it would not be involved in House or Senate campaigns.

“House Majority PAC and Majority PAC are doing everything right and making a real difference. We fully support their efforts,” said the spokesman, Peter Kauffmann, referring to the main groups supporting Democratic congressional candidates. (more…)

Previously John McCain was angered when it was pointed out “his people” (the rebels in Syria) were actual kidnappers.   Now he embarrasses himself to the extent Lindsey Graham needs to apologize for McCain’s angry and petulant behavior.

WASHINGTON DC – Hell-bent on arming opposition forces in Syria—despite strong evidence that they’re run by Islamic terrorists—John McCain displayed behavior unbecoming of a United States Senator during a recent meeting with Syrian Christian leaders touring Capitol Hill.

The delegation of Syrian clergy came to Washington to raise awareness among lawmakers of the growing crisis among the region’s minority Christian community. Christians make up about 10% of the Syrian population and they are being targeted and ruthlessly murdered by radical elements of the rebel forces, according to the visiting church officials. They say the media and human rights groups in the west have been largely silent on the ordeal of the Christians in Syria. (more…)

As a consequence, @ $15/hr, that’s a $1.5 billion removal of positive production value from the economy and replaced with $1.5 billion dependency entitlement under the guise of a subsidy.  EVERY WEEK.

In very direct essence – This shifts $1.5 billion in additional taxation to the remaining productive class every week.   Or $78,000,000,000.00 ($78 Billion) per year. 

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama’s healthcare law will reduce American workforce participation by the equivalent of 2 million full-time jobs in 2017, the Congressional Budget Office said on Tuesday in a report that could fuel Republican efforts to paint the law as a job killer.

In its latest U.S. fiscal outlook, the nonpartisan CBO said the health law would prompt some lower-income workers to limit their hours to avoid losing federal subsidies that are available under the law to help pay for health insurance.

The CBO said the biggest impact on work hours from the health law would begin in 2017 because major provisions of the law will be well under way by then. The CBO said there would be smaller declines in work hours that would occur before then.

Work hours would be reduced by the equivalent of 2.5 million jobs in 2024, the agency said. (more…)

If you know even a cursory history of this creepy man – you know he has no concept of decency or boundaries in relationships.

At 43 he was dating a 17-year-old and began a sexual relationship.    In his fifties he became attracted to his 13-year-old step-daughter.   When the step-daughter turned 19 he dumped mom and married his step-daughter.   This alone is NOT ok.   Period.  It’s more than a little damned creepy, it’s perverse.

Now, as time has moved along, the other little girl (step-daughter #2) says when she was seven, creepy step-daddy was molesting her.

Yeah, sorry but I believe Dylan Farrow – Not the creepy touchy “daddy wants to marry me, mommy” guy.

*Note* Except for a legal marriage contract – Woody Allen has fathered his own grandchildren.  Think about it.

NO, actually having a Supreme Court Justice who cannot apply the term “illegal” to unlawful criminal behavior is what I would consider insulting.

Remember, this is one of the Supreme Court Justices. 

As in – a co-equal branch of government whose very charter is “interpreting” laws, and legal definitions therein.   Legal definitions are then used to frame judicial opinion toward the constitutional authority of the law to stand.  

In a very specific sense all the Supremes do is interpret law 24/7/365 and apply opinion toward definitions contained within the words.

CBS – […]   On the Supreme Court since 2009, Sotomayor said it was tough at first as justices made references that went over her head. She said joining the high court amounted to joining an ongoing conversation among justices who had served for years.

“I figure I may not be the smartest judge on the court but I’m going to be a competent justice,” she said. “I’m going to try to be the best I can and each year I think my opinions have been getting better. And I’m working at finding my voice a little bit.”

Sotomayor was asked at a talk at Yale Law School later in the day about her use of the term “undocumented immigrants” rather than the traditional illegal alien. Sotomayor characterized the issue as a regulatory problem and said labeling immigrants criminals seemed insulting to her. (more…)

Abortion Barbie apparently has a propensity toward letting other people pay for her housing and lifestyle choices.     First indulged by her parents, then came her husband(s), followed by campaign donors and now she wants taxpayers to do it….  

When you think about it, she’s the exact opposite of everything her campaign story claimed she was.

TEXAS – Embattled Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis has spent more than $131,000 in campaign funds to pay for luxury apartments in Austin, Texas, since her election to the Texas State Senate in 2008, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

While such use of campaign funds islegal in Texas, the amounts involved and properties rented may undermine Davis’s campaign persona of a working class single mom, observers tell the Free Beacon.

Davis, whose permanent address is in Fort Worth, lists government accountability as a primary issue on her campaign website, which says she opposes elected officials who “have turned state agencies and programs into their own personal piggy bank, granting favors to their friends, rewarding donors, and furthering their own interests.” (more…)
