Federal Judge Who Put Conyers Back On The Ballot Was One of The Judges Confirmed After Harry Reid Invoked Nuclear Option Two Months Ago…

John ConyersHatTip WeaselZippers – (Via The Hill) Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), a former chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has been placed on the ballot for re-election by a federal district judge in spite of universal agreement that he didn’t meet the plain-language election filing requirements.

Judge Matthew Leitman ordered that Conyers be put back on the August ballot last week after the Michigan secretary of state had denied the congressman’s appeal earlier in the day.

The dispute stems from the failure of Conyers — who has been in Congress for almost 50 years — to submit enough petition signatures to qualify for the ballot under Michigan law. No one disputes that Conyers did not meet the legal requirements to be on the ballot, but Leitman ruled that “There is evidence that their failure to comply with the Registration Statute was the result of good faith mistakes and that they believed they were in compliance with the statute.” (more…)

The first lady met Tuesday with school nutrition officials who said the guidelines are working in their schools.

Father of California Victim From Eliot Rodger’s Shooting Spree Says “We Are All To Blame” For Not Passing Tougher Gun Laws…

GOLETA, Calif. — The father of a young man gunned down Friday during the rampage in Santa Barbara said he is asking members of Congress to stop calling him to offer condolences but nothing more for the death of his only child, Christopher Michaels-Martinez.

“I don’t care about your sympathy. I don’t give a s— that you feel sorry for me,” Richard Martinez said during an extensive interview, his face flushed as tears rolled down his face. “Get to work and do something. I’ll tell the president the same thing if he calls me. Getting a call from a politician doesn’t impress me.”

Saying “we are all to blame” for the death of his 20-year-old son, Martinez urged the public join him in demanding “immediate action” from members of Congress and President Obama to curb gun violence by passing stricter gun-control laws. (more…)

Hillary Clinton “Proud” of State Department Accomplishments

Mrs. Clinton is proud of accomplishments that no-one, even herself, can name.

“Mythical Accomplishments” should have been the name of her new book.   Then again, maybe she is genuinely proud of the 2010 Global U.S. Apology Tour, as she spent almost an entire year apologizing to heads of state for what was written about them by her State Department team and released by WikiLeaks.

WASHINGTON DC – Hillary Rodham Clinton writes in new excerpts from her upcoming book that she wishes she could go back and reconsider some of her past decisions but she is “proud of what we accomplished” during her time as secretary of state.

Clinton, a potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, writes in an author’s note released Tuesday that her four years running the State Department for President Barack Obama taught her about the United States’ “exceptional strengths and what it will take for us to compete and thrive at home and abroad.”

As is usually the case with the benefit of hindsight, I wish we could go back and revisit certain choices. But I’m proud of what we accomplished,” Clinton writes. “This century began traumatically for our country, with the terrorist attacks on 9/11, the long wars that followed, and the Great Recession. We needed to do better, and I believe we did.” (more…)

A Frustrated Myrtle Beach Mayor Responds To The Bloodshed From “Black Bike Week” – Ten People Shot, Three Killed…..

Backstory HERE

The NAACP vows litigation vengeance if the Myrtle Beach Mayor tries to stop the violence or cancel future events.

myrtle beach mayorSOUTH CAROLINA – […]  “I don’t know if there’s anything I could say that could satisfy our residents and the business community in our city right now,” said Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes.

WMBF News spoke with the Mayor on Monday to see if the city has plans to make changes to Memorial Day Weekend security in the future to prevent crime.  The short answer is yes.

“I’m fed up with it; I’m mad as hell about it,” added Rhodes.  “Something has to be done and whatever we have to do to correct this thing, that’s the direction we’re going in.”

This triple homicide is one of five shootings in Myrtle Beach in less than 48 hours.  Rhodes said this crime trend does not reflect the true Myrtle Beach. (more…)

#NailedIt – I Checked My Privilege, And It’s Doing Just Fine…

Henry Ford think you can(Via Kurt Schlichter)  Liberals have a new word for what normal people call “success.” They call it “privilege,” as if a happy, prosperous life is the result of some magic process related to where your great-great-great-grandfather came from.

It’s the latest leftist argument tactic, which means it is a tactic designed to prevent any argument and to beat you into rhetorical submission.

Conservatives, don’t play their game.

It’s easy to see that this notion that accomplishment comes not from hard work but from some mysterious force, operating out there in the ether, is essential to liberal thought. To excuse the dole-devouring layabouts who form so much of the Democrat voting base, it is critical that they undermine the achievements of those who support themselves. We can’t have the American people thinking that hard work leads to success; people might start asking why liberal constituencies don’t just work harder instead of demanding more money from those who actually produce something. Compare and Contrast – Three killed, five wounded in Myrtle Beach shootings – During “Black Bike Week” Event…. But, As Usual, The Media Ignore That Part

Three killed, five wounded in Myrtle Beach shootings“….

….or so goes the Politically Correct CNN headline.   Considering there were only two homocides in 2013 one would think this headline would lead to questions.   Eight people shot in Myrtle beach – during one shooting spree and three of them dead?

Isn’t that actually more people than were shot by a Hollywood Socialite yesterday ?  Yet, we don’t see wall-to-wall CNN media coverage of this one….  Why is that ?

Alas, a little further research and you discover this specific shooting spree has an element the PC media just cannot discuss.   It’s Black Bike Week.   From their website:

Now it’s it’s time for Black Bike Week 2014 The Revolution!  Black Bike Week’s Back!! and Black Bike Week Back is GROWING!!    No Helment law, No Noise Ordinance, No haters, AND MORE PEOPLE

Over 500,000+ People will be hitting the Myrtle Beach Area for 4 days of non stop riding, partying, and fun! “if you can stay long you def should!!!

Note how in the CNN article they make no mention of the event, and note how even in the Carolina article (below) they obfuscate the event removing the self-identified, and self-promoted, racial aspect of the event in favor of a disingenuous “Bike Week” label.   Political Correctness running amuck. “They’ve done their duty,” Obama said, “and they ask nothing more than that this country does ours.”

Republican Rep. Jackie Walorski Outlines A Dozen Prior House VA Reform Bills That Harry Reid Refused To Bring To Senate Floor….

Actually what Rep. Walorski is really doing is outlining exactly why the GOP is ridiculously represented by weak and ineffective leadership like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell.

How much more value would it be for conservatives to have actual, and tolerable, leadership who could engage the media -without looking like pompous jackasses- and outline the real obstructionism?

Heck, even the most partisan of GOP supporters would admit the ability of Boehner and McConnell to frame a discussion without sounding like they just drank a fifth of scotch with a mouth full of marbles is non-existent.   The problem is not the conservative message, it’s the ineptitude of the messenger.

(WASHINGTON DC)  –  While the president pounds his fist and proclaims he’s “madder than hell” over the Veterans Affairs scandal and then just asks for more time to review and investigate, House Republicans are getting pretty tired of the do-nothing Senate and a president who claims to only learn about problems in his administration on cable news.

Rep. Jackie Walorski, R-Ind., sits on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee in the House and she told [Larry O’Connor] Wednesday on WMAL radio in Washington, D.C., that the House has passed a dozen bills for reform of the VA and they are collecting dust on [Sen.] Harry Reid’s desk: (more…)
