WHEN?  About 6 months from now, in May of 2014, the “real” Republican primary candidate for the 2016 Presidential election will be determined.
WHO?   In Kentucky – Significantly less than 2 million people will decide who the next GOP presidential nominee is.
WHY?   If Senator Mitch McConnell wins his primary race he will retain full control of all Republican objectives for the next 6 years.   He could, in actuality, then become the Majority Leader in the Senate – and he will select Chris Christie to represent Republicans.

KENTUCKY – U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is a vocal critic of President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act and its glitch-stricken website, HealthCare.gov, repeatedly calling for repeal of the law “root and branch.”
“At this point, senators from both parties can agree: HealthCare.gov is a rolling disaster. Every day seems to bring more, newer comic calamity,” McConnell, R-Ky., said Oct. 29 in a Senate floor speech. “The only thing the website seems to be good for right now is creating punch lines for late-night comedians.”
However, since 2011, McConnell has accepted more than $75,000 in political donations from health care giant UnitedHealth Group, which owns the technology company that helped build and launch HealthCare.gov for a reported $155 million and now is responsible for fixing it. (more…)

(Via Washington Post)  […]   [President Obama’s Plan is to] Allow insurers to renew existing plans in 2014 (which means they could continue into 2015) while forcing them to send Landrieu-like letters explaining why their plans don’t conform to the Affordable Care Act’s standards.

This doesn’t really ensure anyone can actually keep their plan — which means it also doesn’t affect premiums in the exchanges. But it makes it easier for Democrats to blame insurers for canceling these plans. And it perhaps makes it easier for the White House to stop congressional Democrats from signing onto something like Landrieu or Udall.
The insurance industry is furious. They’ve been working with the White House to get HealthCare.Gov up and running and they’ve been devoting countless man hours to dealing with the problems and they’ve been taking the heat from their customers over canceled plans, and now the Obama administration wants to make them into a scapegoat. (Washington Post)  Putting a statistic on disappointment, the Obama administration revealed Wednesday that fewer than 27,000 people signed up for private health insurance last month in the 36 states relying on a problem-filled federal website.
States running their own enrollment systems did better, signing up more than 79,000, for a total enrollment of over 106,000. (continue reading)
(Forbes)  In the market for individually-purchased health insurance, more than 4.8 million Americans have received notices that their preexisting plans are soon to be illegal, and will be cancelled. Many more cancellation notices are imminent. (link)

(via NRO)  At a time when over 4 million people have had their health insurance canceled, it’s good to know that some Americans can still access prompt medical treatment, even if they don’t want it. David Eckert was pulled over by police in Deming, N.M., for failing to come to a complete halt at a stop sign in the Walmart parking lot.
He was asked to step out of the vehicle, and waited on the sidewalk. Officers decided that they didn’t like the tight clench of his buttocks, a subject on which New Mexico’s constabulary is apparently expert, and determined that it was because he had illegal drugs secreted therein.
So they arrested him, and took him to Gila Regional Medical Center in neighboring Hidalgo County, where Mr. Eckert was forced to undergo two abdominal X-rays, two rectal probes, three enemas, and defecate thrice in front of medical staff and representatives of two law-enforcement agencies, before being sedated and subjected to a colonoscopy — all procedures performed against his will and without a valid warrant. An “Un-Civil War Inside The GOP”?   You are seeing it come out in discussion. Some pundits are talking about it;  but few, if any, are connecting the dots, walking out the long term consequences, and talking about the real “why now” reason.

TOO BIG TO FAIL – The white wine spritzer drinking -crust-less sandwich triangle eating- crowd of big money donors, are now being leveraged by the establishment class of entrenched, power hungry, old school, K-Street Republicans for one reason, and one reason only.
Their king, Mitch McConnell, is in trouble. And they consider him Too Big To Fail.

The media and Republican goal now shifts to the historic national election of first female President Hillary Clinton.

With that in mind the media and the GOP “Decepticons” (the Old Guard) will proclaim New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, as the second coming of political Jesus.   The Republican establishment will swoon over Christie’s large victory and proclaim his resounding win as evidence he is the last and only great hope for 2016.
In complete, albeit temporary synergy, the progressive media will reinforce this GOP message (in the *DROOLING extreme) because they too have a vested interest in seeing Governor Chris Christie rise to be the chosen GOP candidate in the same vein as they selected Governor Mitt Romney.

[*if you want a funny exercise: record all of the dreamy, swoony and complimentary things the media will say about Chris Christie over the next 48 hours.  Save them, and then compare them to what happens mid-summer 2016 – from the exact same people]

The media do not want a bold contrast. Bold contrasts are dangerous to progressive advancement. Bold contrasts are scary.  Bold contrasts represent “risk”.   Remember who they called “maverick” in 2007.   No, the progressive media will position to have a candidate who is ideologically closer to oppose their chosen Hillary.
Chris Christie fits that billing perfectly.   White banker, pro-amnesty, pro-Islam, pro-big government, pro-big business, pro-bailouts, anti-state’s rights, Pro-FEMA, Pro-expanding Medicaid, Pro-Obamacare;… the perfectly squishy middle-man to replace perfectly squishy Mitt Romney, who replaced perfectly squishy John McCain, who replaced.. well, you get the picture.

AS EXPECTED – The electorate around the Washington DC area, who are dependent on BIG GOVERNMENT, voted overwhelmingly to protect their place at the TROUGH and their livelihoods.   AS did the ethnically divided Newport area.  The rest of the state voted generally for Cuccinelli.
