Oh, and they want to waste $443 million more – (via Judicial Watch) Drones used by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to “guard” the U.S. border for nearly a decade are ineffective even though the agency has blown hundreds of millions of dollars on the failed program and wants Congress to keep funding it.
It’s yet another example of what government does best; waste money. In this case the frontline DHS agency—U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP)—that operates the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAC) is actually requesting more money from Congress to keep the futile drone experiment going. The underlying issue is the Federal Surface Transportation Program commonly called “the Highway Bill”. The Highway Bill is technically supposed to be a legislative tool to set priorities for the expenditure of tax revenue coming from federal gasoline taxes; roads, bridges, transportation systems – building and repairing as such.
However, as with all ‘revenue spending bills’, you find a bastardized special-interest process where more legislatures want spending on “their pet projects” than is available from the revenue raised within the tax collection. Ergo immediately you can see the ingredients for corruption or what DC calls “sausage-making”.
Backroom deals, bribes, quid-pro-quo, lobbying schemes, booze – sex – blackmail and leverage, yep, back rubbing DC at it’s more traditional level. Ultimately ending in more spending embedded in the authorizations than revenue raised by the taxes. Yes, more, even more, deficit spending. (more…)

Trump isn’t stupid or politically naïve, and he understands the complexity of trying to organize the apparatus and political machine that would be needed. Trump has repeatedly stated he is running as a Republican, to gain the Republican nomination for President. Period.
However, Trump is also not blind to the scope of the establishment GOP professional political interests that view him as a risk to their seat at the financial trough.

West Long Branch, NJ – The Monmouth University Poll of likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers finds Scott Walker in the lead and Donald Trump in second place. The poll did not find any significant change in support for Trump in interviews conducted after his comments about John McCain’s military service.
The poll also found that Bobby Jindal makes his way into the second tier of candidates, doing better in Iowa than in the national polls. (more…)
