What I find very interesting in this Reuters “exclusive” report are the specific Baltic states mentioned. From the article:

I would remind readers of the recent 1,000 drones supposedly deployed from Western Ukraine that flew through the airspace of this exact group of nations to attack St Petersburg, Russia. {GO DEEP}
CTH said at the time that given the logistics involved it was far more likely the drones were delivered to, and launched from, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia before crossing into Russian territory.

Is it just a coincidence that a report surfaces saying the Pentagon has requested these same three specific EU nations to stop their antagonisms as President Trump tries to come to a diplomatic resolution to this conflict?

Among the nations that have received messages urging them to keep public statements in check are Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity. It was not clear if the messages, which were delivered in bilateral meetings, were conveyed to other European governments.
The US requests come as the Trump administration restarts an effort to press for a negotiated end to the full-scale war in Ukraine, now well into its fifth year. The latest push has blended incentives for Russia – including sanctions relief – with pressure on Ukraine to halt its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.
Asked for comment, a Pentagon official said: “Private conversations among allies are just that, so we will not comment on these allegations.”
Pentagon policy chief Elbridge Colby, a key figure in an ongoing review of US troop levels in Europe, was one of the US officials delivering the message, the people said. Reuters could not determine what other officials were involved.
None of the people, who include three European officials and a US official, suggested the advice was communicated in a confrontational manner. (read more)

I would hope that the Pentagon saying “tone it down” was done in such a way as to put the Fear of God into those nations.
I think “tone it down’ means” don’t expect the US to come to your aid if you antagonize Russia purposely “cause we ain’t”.
That would be called confrontational. We can only hope.

Step 1: Pull any and all US troops and equipment stationed in these three countries, then we will see how bold they are. If they wish to continue to poke the bear, it’s on them and they will have earned the consequences.
NATO is a defensive organization. Countries which affirmatively seek armed conflict should be booted out of the organization. If belligerent countries can not be ejected, then the US should resign its membership.
The Baltic States (yes, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia) have profoundly negative memories of their post-WWII experience under the iron fist of the USSR. (Is anyone here old enough to remember Captive Nations Week?) So they are still understandably paranoid about Russia. Once the USSR went the trip, they even (to the horror of “human rights” advocates) expelled many families who themselves or whose relatively recent forebears had been planted there by the USSR. What they do need is reassurance and an understanding of their quite recent history.
.. and the Russians have profound memories of the NAZIS Friekorps operations in these very same Baltic States after WWI.
The Russians also have a profound memory and knowledge of history dating back to the 1700’s … for ALL the one-way traffick by Sweden, Prussia, France,Germany and NATO through the Baltic States to destroy Russia.
… and having those same nations willingly join the ranks of the invading Europeans.
Especially galling since Russia save Western Europe from itself: i.e. Swedish invasions, French invasions, German invasions …. only to be repaid with allowing Lenin to immigrate to Russia and conducting invasions.

These EU and NATO countries are not going to stop attacking Russia unless something drastic happens to them.
Suggesting anything else is just wishful thinking.
Once Trump’s turn in office is over the establishment politicians will go back to business as usual.
