Texas-based ConocoPhillips announced last year they were restructuring their labor force and anticipated a 20-25% reduction in overall workers.
Now, given the nature of energy policy impacts to private industry, where do you think a major oil-gas company would first consider cutting jobs. Common sense would tell you, the first regions to be reviewed would be those regions hostile to the exploitation of the product the corporation brings to market.
Thus, reductions in workforce and operational capacity are not only determined by contract leasing, but also by the regulatory environment that surrounds the business. Add the political hostility to the business sector at issue and you end up with a self-fulfilling prophecy. Advance anti-oil/gas policy and you get less oil/gas business investment.
Oct 26 (Reuters) – ConocoPhillips has informed its staff of a reduction to its workforce in Canada, a spokesperson for the oil and gas producer said on Monday. The reduction includes employees and contractors and is set to take place on Tuesday, the spokesperson added.
However, the Houston, Texas-based company did not disclose how many jobs were affected. ConocoPhillips has about 9,900 employees globally, according to its 2025 annual report.
“We routinely review our organization to align with our long-term strategy, operate safely and efficiently, and remain well-positioned for future opportunities,” the spokesperson said. (more)
While there are many ideological factors involved in the ‘western’ political opposition to the Russian Federation as a nation, I am of the opinion that one of the significant facets is the scale and scope of Russia’s oil/gas development.
For three decades the “globalist west” have been pushing a climate change agenda under various catch-names, manipulative narratives and false claims. From “global warming” to “build back better” the entire construct was based on a fraudulent premise of planet saving.
The real objective of the ‘climate change’ movement was to create an overarching thesis that justified a small number of elite power centers to manage a larger global population.
From that perspective the promotion of climate change as a religious belief system takes on a new dimension.
Overlay OPEC+, and specifically an energy powerhouse like the Russian Federation that refuses to be controlled by those western elites, and suddenly the scale of vitriol toward Russia makes sense.
As an example, we often hear of how the various “western” nations as a group stopped financing, building and growing oil refining capacity (ie. gasoline). However, what is never discussed is now Russia never participated in that agenda.
Factually, Russia took the opposite approach and expanded their refining capabilities…. thinking, as a leadership nation independent from western finance, that refined product demand would not diminish as fast as the ‘western elites’ were claiming it would.
Put that aspect into the discussion and the exploits of Zelenskyy against Russian refining capacity takes on a larger perspective.
The same ‘western elites’ who organized the justification for economic control around ‘clean energy’ are the same ‘western elites’ supporting Zelenskyy’s targeting operation of Russian refineries.

Hahaha. Sorry for the workers, but who didn’t see this coming???
Like watching a slow-motion suicide.
…..slow motion….
while ( ironically copying a russian )
being entertained by
miss practicing a twist of the pavlov’s dogs
experiment upon the people.
Uhhh…
can we ( glabalists) control people by getting them to salivate at the notion of saving the planet
( with a host of fears and tools )
– while harming their future livelihoods
( without them thinking so )?
The initial experiment, then became some peoples nefarious plan…?
Pavlov dog experiment:
Core Process: A neutral stimulus, like a bell, repeatedly paired with an unconditioned stimulus (food) becomes a conditioned stimulus that triggers the response alone.
Ironically,
a dog is man’s best friend
( unless someone miss led the dog… )
Are we any better than our best friends?
hmmm…
God gave us free will.
No one human person is perfect.
( except the Lord… )
[ sadly, there are disingenuous people…in disguises…]
Thankfully, there are also good people. : )
Some can see the differences, others get duped etc.
Imho
Relax Canadians. That whole Carney elbows up BS will put a few limited scraps on your dinner table especially if you get in front of the illegals at the food banks
“Death with Dignity” they call it.
That is a great thousand foot view Sundance thank you be well God Bless
Money cuts go from the car shop to the grocery store, to the child care, this is going to more than trickle down. It is like a waterfall.
Plus who is going to buy those EVs made in China going to Canada.??
Great job Canada leadership, you are making your country incompatible with investment and not conducive supporting human life.
Great, we know where all those immigrants are going when their benefits disappear
Sorry to our Canadian treeper friends, and those of like mind who don’t know about the treehouse.
But it seems you have been bought out, stripped of everything of value by your leadership, and all thats left is bones for the masses to scour clean. The name escapes me currently where a company gets bought out for the good stuff and discards the rest. Someone will be along to help me with the phrase.
Like Beretta and Ruger last week…
Vulture capitalism.
Ummm…we’re next. I wouldn’t gloat.
Unless we do something much different than we’ve done before. Even electing Trump is only producing a reprieve. No systemic changes have been made. Is just a timeout.
Well of course they are anti-human life.
That was the plan all along…
You cannot do business where there is no business taking place. What else are you suppose to do.
The decision is made canada is a loser.
<The decision is made canada is a loser.>
Yep…They got screwed by Phillips 🙂

Better look close…it may be a Reed and Prince.
Buncha flatheads.
The irony is as thick as Mickey sticky
i often apply that thinking about the subversive motives of the globalists. i never thought about attacking russia over oil and gas. makes perfect sense. the new world order. boy is there a fight coming.
As is so often the case,
Sundance is spot on.
Could have been America as well…
We were certainly being herded in that direction.
Thank the good Lord above that He tapped President Trump on the shoulder and told him “Now…now is your time.”
They’re fired!
Golly! I didn’t realize. Who is the tall tent pole in that gathering of pegs? I didn’t realized the Global consortium of oligarchs had a height limit. Napoleon Complex demonstrated.
Embrace that giant sucking sound.
No more Kendall for you.
