Elon Musk has just delivered a clarifying statement on X platform, outlining what many suspected.
Ukraine was using Starlink to attack Russia, that was never allowed. Ukraine was authorized to use Starlink to defend itself inside Ukraine and communicate on the front lines of battle. However, Ukraine military leadership weaponized their access to Starlink and began using it as an offensive missile/drone guidance system. That was stopped.
ELON MUSK – “Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be.
Starshield, a different system, is controlled by the US government. What they decide to do is up to them.
Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week.
Starlink remains critical to the defense of Ukraine, as it is the only system that cannot be jammed or blown up, at least for now. Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact.
Starlink was also crucial to preventing Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war, as all other means of communication were destroyed or jammed by Russia.
SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company on Earth BY FAR.

This is exactly what many suspected. For the past two weeks Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been obfuscating what Ukraine was doing, while U.S. members of Congress were conflating the difference between Starlink and Starshield.
Ukraine was never permitted to use Starlink as an offensive weapon outside its borders. Zelenskyy and his military were purposefully violating the terms of use for Starlink systems by weaponizing it.
The U.S. government under Biden and Trump would not authorize the use of Starshield for Ukraine’s use because that would be akin to the United States military guiding missiles and drones into a nuclear armed power, Russia.
It will be interesting to see how Zelenskyy and congress respond to this statement by Elon Musk.

That said, I think the ‘jump jet’ system (the car can’t sustain flight… it jumps then falls with style) could have immense value as a safety system in automobiles.
If it can accelerate a car from 0-60mph in 0.83s… it can stop one that quick too… which works out to about 35 feet of ground covered. Tie that into some motion detectors and the amount of lives it could save might exceed airbags and seatbelts. Similarly, a one-shot corrective righting and slow land of a vehicle that falls of a precipice is a rarer situation, but amazing to consider that such a thing could become survivable with little to no injury.
We only have the prospect of that because of all the research that went into SpaceX putting things into space. It’s pretty amazing.
I have always thought a flying car would be the future but not way up in the air. Instead the car would float above the ground.
Imagine then, no tires needed, road conditions wouldn’t matter, and spending billions on roads would be a thing of the past.

There’s one subway metro line in Nagoya that operates as a maglev (magnetic levitation), with a 8 mm gap between track and train. Top speed: 100 km/h (62 mph). When I rode it, the typical speed seemed to be about half of that. There is a Shinkansen maglev under construction that will run between Tokyo and Nagoya at much higher speeds, but it is not yet in service.
I hope that it is used in the next Bond film.

If I remember rightly, Musk provided Starlink to Ukraine so citizens could communicate with family and friends around the world. Communication was being targeted. I’m not sure when it started to become a defense mechanism.
