Most people will not read the Inspector General Report in full [SEE PDF HERE]. But if you did, you might come to the same conclusion as myself. The entire FED and IG Michael Horowitz should be fired, arrested and prosecuted for corruption at a level that is simply jaw dropping.
The issue is really simple if you cut through the fog of the report. The FED Board awarded a no-bid contract to the contractor, without an agreement on the building renovation project and the construction costs associated with it until President Donald Trump began drawing attention to it. This is gross corruption at a massive scale.
To use the terminology of the report, start with this aspect:
…”the Board selected a different project delivery method, construction manager at risk (CMAR), for the Eccles-1951 renovation project. A well-managed CMAR contract allows a building owner—in this case, the Board—to transfer certain construction risks, including those related to cost and schedule performance, to its construction manager (also known as a construction manager as constructor, or CMc). To effect this risk transfer, a CMAR contract provides for the owner and CMc to agree on a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the project, usually around the time construction begins or building design is substantially complete. Once the GMP is set, the owner has greater cost certainty and the CMc is incentivized to carefully manage costs. If costs exceed the GMP, the CMc absorbs them with limited exceptions, such as when the GMP may be increased to account for change events like owner directed changes or other adjustments like unforeseen site conditions“… {Source pg, 5}
So, the FED board established, at least with themselves, that they would have an agreement on cost for the project. However, if you go to page 60 of the report you find this:
…” in connection with a multibillion-dollar contract, the Board did not ask its CMc for a construction cost estimate or a GMP until December 2025—about 3.5 years after construction began and after the Board had already awarded more than $2 billion. Specifically, the Board did not take advantage of several key opportunities to request a cost estimate from the CMc”…. (Source pg, 60}
It wasn’t until President Trump drew attention to the FED having spent over $2 billion, that FED Chair Jerome Powell, and the FED board requested the construction manager and construction company to provide a cost estimate. This is unreal, especially considering that IG Michael Horowitz finds no unlawful decision-making in the overall fiasco.
President Trump went to visit the construction site at the central bank in July 2025, when both Trump and Powell donned hardhats to inspect the work. FIVE MONTHS LATER, the FED Board finally asked for a construction cost estimate!
The FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD just gave the construction company an open-ended blank check to spend as much as they wanted of TAXPAYER MONEY, with no limits and no expectations of cost. This, according to IG Horowitz is a little concerning, but entirely not a legal problem.
These are the people supposedly in charge of running monetary policy for The United States of America!
Now, we can understand exactly why IG Michael Horowitz was moved from protecting Washington DC corruption within the Dept of Justice, to protecting Washington DC corruption at the Federal Reserve.
Michael Horowitz is not an Inspector General. He is the corruption manager for the U.S. government!
“The Inspector General’s Report just came out on Jerome “Too Late” Powell’s “renovation” of the Federal Reserve Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The IG’s Report states that there were “deficiencies in the management of the renovation project.” The Building is over budget, at a Record Setting rate and, at a minimum, “Too Late” Powell should be forced to resign from the Board. He can’t manage a Building, and he certainly shouldn’t be allowed to manage his High Interest Rate Policy (only on “TRUMP!”).
I have asked Attorney General Todd Blanche to study the report, and make a determination as to what to do about a relatively small Building Complex that is Hundreds of Millions of Dollars over budget, and is now going to cost, according to the Report, at least 2.5 Billion Dollars, with no end in sight.
The Report states, “We were concerned to find that the Board did not obtain a project cost estimate from the [construction manager] until January 2026, which was 3.5 years after construction began and after the Board had awarded more than $2 billion in construction costs. As of July 2026, more than 4 years after construction began and $2 billion has been awarded for construction, the Board had yet to set a [guaranteed maximum price]” — An absolutely unheard of situation! — “The Board therefore still does not have cost certainty and has not transferred material risk to the [construction manager].”
In actuality, I think that the 2.5 Billion Dollars will be 3.5 Billion Dollars, and maybe 4 Billion Dollars by the time they’re finished, and may never get properly built. Soundproofing, and all other elements of the Building, will be inferior to what was previously there. In particular, the magnificent beauty, sculptured ceilings and walls, and so many other things which made the Federal Reserve Building stand apart, will never be captured again, and are only being replaced by flat, boring, less than midlevel finishes.
I could have done a far better Renovation for 25 Million Dollars, completely maintaining the MAGNIFICENCE of the structure, and had money left over. They completely destroyed the Beauty and Glorious History of the Building.
This is Jerome Powell’s fault, and he should be forced to resign, IMMEDIATELY! If he doesn’t resign, he should be sued, at the highest level, by the United States Government, for either corruption or incompetence, both of which are completely unacceptable…And no, I do not want this Building named after President Donald J. Trump, ME! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

This is Trump’s bailiwick–large scale building and construction contracting. Thank God he recognized the problems and brought light to it.
The DemonRats will find some way to blame this on Trump. They are despicable people.
@WD Kirk, about “despicable people” if the Progressives/Demonrats really cared about people as they claimed… California, and in particular San Francisco, the Progressive “Mecca” would have NO HOMELESS, NO ONE DYING ON THE STREETS FROM OVERDOSING at the MINIMUM.
They are beyond despicable, they are a Death Cult that thrives on Human Misery, Suffering and Death and they look upon us as future sacrifices.
Ultimately, I think they crave power.
“and brought light to it” and brought it to an end!!!
So. Who is going to jail?
No one.
No consequences for bad behavior.
They’re stealing the money, of course.
I believe Powell is laundering the CIA’s Drug and Child Trafficking Money.
That’s why Cartel Enforcer Boasberg is protecting Powell.
Ding, ding, ding…we have a winner!! Cut through the chaff and countermeasures and there is a LOT of money that is going into SOMEONE’S pockets and POTUS, a lifelong builder from New York, knows it and is desperately trying to bring it to the attention of everyone else!
However, the level of “head in sand” disease among most of the elected officials, permanent bureaucratic class, AND main stream media apparatchiks (including those on FAUX News) is off the charts!!
I don’t think their heads are “in the sand,” but in another place…
Sure is dark in there….. anybody have a match?
I’m not sure it is “head in sand” disease. I think it is more like “who are you going to believe? me or your lying eyes’ syndrome. Look at all the corruption in the Covid schemes. How much taxpayer money was fraudulently spent (given) to unqualified recipients? How many of those unqualified recipients have gone to jail and been ordered to pay restitution to the Treasury? How many career employees at Treasury (and other administrative posts) knew about this fraud but remained silent in order to keep their jobs? There seems to be ZERO accountability in DC for anything (though people like Nanzi Pelousy, Dementia Joe, Hackem Jeffries, Check EColi Schumer, KFC Cohen and Al Greenwithenvy have done everything possible to manufacture it).
Boasburg with the creepy eyes and attitude should be jailed right along with the rest of them for this issue and all the rest of the rulings he’s made against the Trump administration. He needs to be thrown out of his position asap., but of course he won’t be.
Boasberg needs to be impeached immediately.
If for no other reason, for manipulating assignments to cases based solely for political gain. Funny how there are only 4 or 5 judges EVER assigned to important cases against Trump or his policies. 0 of them are Conservatives.
I think you misspelled “lynched.”
and Boasberg is likely lining his pockets with each “ruling”
Business as usual. Land of the Grift, Home of the Fraud. Government at all levels is nothing but a criminal enterprise. We are just as bad as banana republic (but with nuclear weapons).
100%. Until people start going to jail our country is failing.
I like Xi’s terms “Tigers” and “Flies”. “Flies” go to jail all the time. “Tigers” do not.
When we see “tigers” going to jail, our Republic is functioning. But, if it is only “flies” then we have good entertainment (e.g. COPS, bodycam videos) but no true justice – the tigers just laugh at us, smirk and laugh some more.
Yes but the “flies” aren’t going to jail either–witness the heathens who rape, plunder, and murder with rap sheets pages long and still roam the streets.
The two spectacular bridges over the Hudson River which replaced the dilapidated Tappan Zee Bridge cost almost $4 billion. Yeah, I’d say Powell had no control over the Fed renovation project. And Horowitz is a buffoon, IMHO.
That new (Mario Cuomo Bridge) tappan zee bridge is a horrible piece of monstrosity. And it was financed by EB5 money mostly from the Chinese. And it currently has some structural problems.
Would be true to form that the bridge was designed with steel that was supposed to last decades and will need the inferior imported steel replaced in a fraction of the time.
Someone is going to make out well on that contract when the repair work is due.
Horowitz is there solely to coverup corruption.
How do these people sleep at night?
Rhetorical.
They sleep just fine.
They have no moral compass.
Did Horowitz check for any kickbacks or bribes or some way of the people writing this massive blank check arranging some way to profit from it?
Did he check to see that the money was truly going to construction?
No. He was too busy drafting his own invoices.
Jim in TN, or was Hororwitz himself in on the money laundering grift?
He probably got a few checks himself.
That was never his job.
Bureaucrats build monuments to themselves and it’s merely a matter of scale. School districts are the worst because they operate with far and away the largest cut of the property tax tribute. Government schools in Pricksterville can levy 8% per annum without a referendum while all other taxing entities are limited to 4.
As for the money changers, their tables need to be uprighted and the place demolished instead of this crap.
Taxes are, by design, levied ro reduce or eliminate something, such as alcohol, cigarettes, etc…EXCEPT income and real property, which are simple theft. Want the grifting and thievery to stop, end confiscatory taxes (cold day in Hell, but a man can hope, despite ‘hope is not a strategy’….but We The People have had it with these bums stealing from us to enrich themselves, but ya gotta start somewhere.)
The United States deficit has nothing to do with the American public. It’s these bureaucrats spending all our money on their corrupt ways.
Not right!
Google maps. Looks like 2 building. Maybe 5-6 stories high, both buildings. Add afew levels to basement, say 3.
Doesn’t look like a big job from above.
3.5Billion dollars…3.5Billion Dollars..keeps rolling around in my head..for THOSE 2 buildings? Look at them on google maps.
This sh*t HAS to S!TOP!
All the taxes I paid over the years. Overtime days, 50 of every 100 out the door to the taxman.
And these smug POS’s keep laughing at guys like me.
I’m just so sick to death of assholes like Powell stealing the place blind. ALWAYS walking away smiling. KNOWING.
The only person I feel like voting for right now is Ghangis Khan.
With one mandate.
WIPE EM OUT!
Sundance showed us this years ago, when Horowitz first came on the scene of players playing their game.
Bureaucrats protecting the Bureaucracy has absolutely no place in our Republic.
At the very least Mr. Horowitz, and Mr. Powell should both have already resigned in shame.
Just like that Supreme Court Justice Amy Barrett who showed the entire world she was open to being blackmailed, harassed, and intimidated to change her decision, that she hasn’t already resigned is also disgustingkt beyond belief.
oops, typo. should have typed ‘disgustingly’ beyond belief! Still makes me mad thinking of her admission and not stepping down.
Barrett is a damned coward and traitor.
The entire government appears to spend money this way. Then they can ask for an increase on the next budget go round.
The only Self-Perpetuating machine in existence.
Haven’t seen this crook’s mug shot in a while.
Odd. He holds a resemblance to an older Carney, another bold faced liar. Must be a banker’s requisite
Nothing will happen to anyone.
That’s right because they might make a deal and rat other crooks out. Then, those crooks might rat more crooks out and before you know it, the whole house of cards collapses.
Maybe that’s theplan!
Would be nice, but I’m not holding my breath.
It’s DC, nothing would happen. Pretend judge Biasbutt would miraculously get the case if it ever went to trial.
So couldn’t Trump be sued for the spiraling costs for the ballroom and reflecting pool?
How much hard and soft dollars has the Iran war cost us thus far? And NOW he cares about the tax payer? 😆😂
Mass / volume is very high with this one.
As EVERYONE KNOWS… the ballroom is being paid for with donated money. Lower “military” basement is being paid by the government.
Reflecting pool was less than when Obama/Biden “fixed” it before. The poor workmanship on the latest repair is being fixed by the contractor.
You’re probably on the wrong site if that’s your disposition. Try BlueSky.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Do you really believe that the ballroom is being funded by private donations?
It’s not a matter of faith or belief.
Go check the records if you wish; it’s all documented and done by the book.
Bold faced lies.
Oh well. So what’s new.
Yo- Bro– You are being a total retard.
The Ballroom project is not a burden on the taxpayers at all.
The ballroom is being paid for privately by members of the American public.
The Reflecting pool is not “spiraling” anywhere. The error was on the part of the contractor who is under contract to provide a working finished restoration which meets the specifications indicated by the US Park Service. Translation for Portlanders: There’s no extra cost to Taxpayers. The only cost is to the contractor for his costs to correct his mistakes to meet his contract…
to finally get paid for their original one-and-only contract.
Another point, likely missed in your deep research: President Obama also spent taxpayer money on the reflecting pool (substantially more) The finished work was also not a workable or functional solution.
Instead of requiring the vendor to meet their responsibilities and making the pool function as agreed (assuming any specs or performance standards were even considered at all). Obama and company just said fug,-it, and paid the contractor with our tax dollars for a substandard job. Which thereafter festered with foul stinking toxic algae.
Ditto Biden admin liked the rustic feel apparently… never had the issues addressed.
Oh, and in case you simply missed your off-ramp, REddit is over there <<– about 16 miles down thataway <<—–
Glad to be of assistance.
Nice try.
Jerome Powell did not get a cost estimate from the construction company. Obniously, cost and repairs should be first on the list when you start a project like this one? And, he has apparently destroyed a beautiful building. They should give the Fed the old FBI monstrosity to work from.
Time to shut down the Illegal FED!
Michael Horowitz is as greasy as they come.
A public lynching is not enough for him.
When will there be justice served ?
Yep. Slick Horowitz.
Not surprised at all. I would love to know more about who got the contract. I have some experience working with contracts etc. And rules are for others never for those at the top….
I worked with IG’S on occasion and nothing in government would surprise me.
I couldn’t accept more than a cup of coffee but at the top $$$$ rules and nothing is done about it.
Pray unceasingly 🙏
I understood rhe Fed was private! I have been asking for a year, “Why in the H*** is the public paying for its building?”
Tell me what I missed.
This is the SWAMP protecting SWAMP thing … they always do.
Fully 99.8% of federal government employees and appointees know nothing about business.
But let’s keep electing career politicians (talking to you Ron DeSantis) on both sides of the aisle to promote economic growth and prosper the citizen.
Club Gitmo. Waterboarding. Execution.
Some Disassembly Required …
I am quite sure that every decision and action taken was completely “by the book”.
That book is available for viewing by invitation to those holding special above top secret clearance in a SCIF housed in the Obama Presidential Center and Community Activity Center.
Every time I read another story like this about the greatness that is our President Trump, I thank God that through His Divine Intervention we have been blessed to have this extraordinary man as our President. There is simply no other person/ politician who could have pulled off the things that he’s fixed during the time he’s been in office.
Please get out and Vote Red/Republican no matter what. Make the elections too big to rig. We cannot afford to allow the DemonRats to get into office and destroy all of PT’s amazing work.
Only in US government could one do a no bid multi billion dollar building project without even an initial estimate. Who cares it is not your money…bill
From what I recall of federal contracting – there have to be special circumstances to use a no bid contract. I don’t know that this one was, but I would say any auditor ( or two brain cells together) would question why any construction could even start with at least total project cost estimate.
I’ll provide the feathers.
Bet all the conspirators got a hefty slice
Who benefitted from the kickbacks? Was the fed board rewarded for killing Trump’s economy and buffeting Obama’s and Biden’s?
I have a structure in mind for Powell and it’ll only cost a hundred thousand bucks tops:
a nice marble mausoleum in classical Romanesque style. Put him in there. Alive. Seal it shut.
Edgar Allan Poe – Wrote About Something Similar
https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/alanparsonsproject/thecaskofamontillado.html
Funny that… Was just thinking about that one earlier.
Shame there are no bona fide catacombs within Mordor on the Potomac. Would be much more climatic.
Whatever is done, we all might consider how to RICO their friends in the so-called press for intentionally mis-reporting, covering for them, as co-conspirators.
Likewise in the case of the Russia FISA nonsense.
It’s weird that anyone who can do anything about all of this tends to flee.
“…”the Board selected a different project delivery method, construction manager at risk (CMAR), …”
And that begins the lawyerly language gobblygook that is designed to obfuscate the truth of the matter; they were planning an in-house grift of taxpayer monies to line their greedy pockets. Whenever sentences/statements like this are presented it is obvious it is intended to create the Nebula that keeps their thievery behind the Oz curtain.
Send them to Iran…problem is this is ONLY ONE group caught red-handed because we have a President who knows construction budgets and projects as second nature, and…more importantly…can see right through the grifter smokescreen. Lord, God, protect this man.
One way, or another, the Marxist Democrats always find a way to loot the treasury, in order to fund their pet Marxist projects and groups. Powell may not have gotten a cost estimate from the contractor, but I would wager that he did negotiate some sort of a kickback scheme.
And Horowitz thinks that screwing the taxpayers out of multiple billions of dollars, is perfectly legal and OK?!?!?!
Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was gross incompetence on Powell’s part, because he is a very stupid man. But, just because he is a moron, that doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t face some process from the Justice Department, since the best case scenario, process is the only punishment (if any) that these criminals ever face.
But, since Powell has been a reliable ally to the Marxist Democrats (attempting to derail DJT’s recovery plans for the country with inflated interest rates), the Marxists will protect Powell and likely even make sure that he gets a book deal out of a fellow traveling publisher.
DEI……Put the moron in charge so the rest of them can loot to their heart’s content.
1917 was a very bad year….the USA eventually has to reverse those charges or not.
1913 pretty much stank on ice, too.
It’s interesting how the Banking cabal mostly originate to that 1913 year….. the Local Banking family billionaires founded their bank in 1913 too… it was an organized racket from the start. That would be called organized crime family nowadays.
In 1913 smart people tried to take interest rates out of the hands of politicians. The Fed worked well and helped the economy to grow. Like everything else, the Democrat/Communists finally destroyed the independence of the Fed and every other government Department. Powell was the culmination, Lowering interest rates in a highly inflationary period to help Sleepy Joe and then raising rates to hurt President Trump.
The Fed and every other government Department needs to be Closed or Slashed in Size. Our government is too corrupt and cannot be fixed through slight changes. Balanced Budgets and Scorched Earth on Departments with most just shuttered.
The Fed is NOT a government department.
It is a consortium of privately owned banks.
“IG Michael Horowitz and ENTIRE FED Should Be Fired, Arrested and Immediately Prosecuted“
Shot, prosecuted and arrested. And in that order.
This is a total FRAUD. Follow the MONEY and see who EMBEZZLED, how much money laundering was going on and who got the PAY to PLAY money? Investigate their PERSONAL ACCOUNTS and name names. How much did POWELL EMBEZZLE?
Somehow I suspect if a corporate board were as sloppy with a construction contract on a new office building, they would have been sued long ago and jailed for failing in their fiduciary duty to the board and shareholders.
But hey! It’s just taxpayers money, so who cares?
It’s now very clear why President Trump was so upset over this fiasco.
It should not be difficult to follow the money and see what the contractor made so far and where the contract sent money.
ENTIRE FBI Should Be Fired, Arrested and Immediately Prosecuted
Typical government waste and excess. No accountability. I once worked a conssession in a National Park which underwent a “new” septic system. The contractor was paid 2.5 million dollars for a project he said should have cost 50 K. This was in 1982.
I see the link for the report now. Will read tomorrow. This is going to be some greally gobbly gook. Makes more sense now that Horowitz wasn’t fired as IG during Trump’s second term.
Aye!
The credentialed class look corrupt and incompetent at the same time.
The self-selection process favoring groupthink tends to do that.
They have managers, not problem solvers.
So True R F. When you talk to government folks or Congress folks it is not about progress on fixing a problem. It is about how much money was spent on a problem.
A problem of their own making.
I worked construction management for 37 years…I built an international airport in two years..for 2 billion…
Hey buddy, got a dime? 😉
And the complicit Enemedia say that Trump has not oversight and is causing a CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS!!! Thanks guys.
The Gipper Lives Nails it.
He usually does.
Wow did I come to the party late, lol. It would never happen of course but heck yeah, firing the entire Fed board would allow me to buy 2 more homes in cash because I’d be shorting the F out the market, any market. Keep your fingers crossed everyone but you might want to sure up some debt first, just in case.
The only way interest rates come down is when the market decides that it’s too costly to do business. That’s how free market capitalism really works, not some blowhards in government trying to manipulate price controls. Stop these wars and this addictive government spending and voila, interest rates come down!
No more Continuing Resolutions!
I love how people think the funding of the Federal Reserve comes from taxpayers, lol, especially when they don’t even know how they are truly funded because they refuse to educate themselves.
What’s even funnier is what you just wrote, who pays for all those CR’s? The Taxpayers, 😂😂😂
Sorry, somehow I miss your humor.
I was not speaking to Fed. Res. , but rather to your point about govt. spending.
Nothing funny about CRs that keep paying year after year into supposed one-time expenditures.
This is to my mind the easiest to address waste in our federal expenditures, but CONgress will never take the time to strip anything out. Why? slushy funding.
Key Project Details
Asbestos and lead abatement can easily add millions of $$$ and major time delays, these contractors know very well how to ply the game. Every subcontractor could file a claim for waiting until the entire building was remediated and declared “safe” for the contracted work to begin. No doubt the entire building was tented and outfitted with negative air pressure to keep “toxic” particles from escaping. Workers fitted with full protection hazmat suits also. The cost passed on to you, the taxpayer for this boondoggle. I know the story very well. I was construction manager on the Tacoma Union Station Federal Courthouse renovation. In this case the Contractor covered much of the cost over runs which led eventually to its bankruptcy. BBG have a sweetheart deal. How is it possible that a billion dollars contract can be awarded without a tender? And no max price given after yeas o construction? This is incompetence on a massive scale at best, criminality at worst.
the govt management team need to be brought to account. This mismanagement borders on the criminal. Trump makes a very good pint. As a builder he knows very well what (dirty) games are played at tax payers expense.
The
What most don’t seem to understand is that government overspending, adding impetus to the decline of the US, is apparently the GOAL.
So this and all other outrageously wasteful overspending examples are per plan.
There are a lot of people who should be fired and prosecuted. We have been waiting 10 years and one day we may be rewarded for our patience. We hear some may have been but we desperately await some proof and joy for our patience. I can’t wait much longer, getting too old.
got news for ya. this happens at every level of govt on down to townships and schools boards. the govt does not deserve to have taxation powers. and if you know any billionaires, they have government contracts.
one has to wonder considering this GMP being a requirement AND that fair bidding process was not followed,
where are the other contractors who are filling lawsuits and claiming they were denied the opportunity?
separately, but specifically, I think this is an issue that really needs special attention:
who IS the contractor for this work? by name? Any particular members on that board that are associated with Congress people/families? Boasberg, Powell, Obama, Comey, etc?
also nothing: these senate refused to hear a bill on the floor just recently that would significantly limit congressional members AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS to trade stocks (there are some exceptions, but that is the general gist of the proposed LAW..to end the “practice” of officials from making trades on companies oothat they themselves are involved in making legislative (MONEY) decisions about). The reasons for rejection, of course /s, is because the bill was tied directly to the Voting Reform act. Think about that for a minute, instead of forming two separate bills, THE HOUSE, majority led by Johnson effectively spiked the ball on this one. They poisoned the pill, despite the actual stock trade limit Reform being largely a democrat originated measure. Every single democrat voted against this comprehensive bill.
now, there are some arguments to be made for sure. For instance, the proposed law would create for the first time ever codified in law that lawmakers are permitted to trade in “private ventures”..which is a loophole. But it gets worse, when you look at the bill, it simply provides that if they are caught doing it, a fine of 2,000 dollars OR a 10 percent of the investment is incurred for each “violation”. Hardly a deterrence …actually it has not real world relationship to preventing “insider trading” When one considers the massive amounts of money traded in stock and options by these creatures, paying a 2,000 buck toll, with zero serious consequence..not even a letter of censure, just pay a fine and move on, well, this is in fact a paper tiger, not a serious effort to stop this lawless practice. So in this instance, schumer is right (although his intentions over the course of his career have never been about doing the right thing so that’s important to notice also…He used this opportunity GIFTED TO HIM BY REPUBLICANS to score a political point. words.
Lets examine the scale of corruption and put a number to it. The amounts of money traded by these so called law makers (law breakers?) is obscene.
not so fun facts:
In 2025, members of the U.S. Congress, along with their spouses and dependents, executed $635.6 million in stock trades across roughly 13,324 transactions, according to a comprehensive tracking report published by [Common Cause](https://www.commoncause.org/articles/congress-made-over-635-million-in-stock-trades-while-americans-struggled-see-who-traded-the-most/). [1, 2]
For 2026, exact total annual figures are still being aggregated, but analytical reports from The New York Times show that since January 2025 through August 2026, cumulative congressional stock activity is valued between $160 million and $664 million. [3]
## Quick Comparison of Congressional Trading
| Metric | 2025 Full Year | January 2025 – Mid-2026 |
|—|—|—|
| Total Estimated Volume | $635.6 Million | $160 Million to $664 Million (Varies by range reporting) |
| Total Number of Trades | 13,324 trades | ~22,200 trades |
## Key Statistics & Trends (2025–2026)
* Reporting Ambiguity: Under the STOCK Act, lawmakers report their transactions in wide financial ranges (e.g., $1,001 to $15,000 or $1,000,001 to $5,000,000) rather than exact values. This makes calculating an absolute dollar total difficult, leading watchdogs to rely on minimum and maximum valuation estimates. [2, 3, 4]
* Top Trading Lawmakers: Representatives Michael McCaul, Ro Khanna, and Nancy Pelosi consistently register the highest overall trading volumes, often driven by family trusts or tech-heavy options trading. For example, Representative Khanna alone logged over 4,100 transactions worth upwards of $53 million in 2025. [5, 6, 7]
* The Legislative Context: The sheer volume of wealth moving through public markets has driven continued pressure to restrict Capitol Hill trading. However, the latest major legislative push, the “Stop Insider Trading Act,” failed a Senate vote in September 2026. [3, 8, 9]
