I know these are two people that we generally don’t care to know much about. However, given the 15-year sentence handed down upon Harvey Weinstein today, an ancillary story deserves a slight mention.
This story makes sense, because back in 2025 Candace Owens suddenly became an advocate for Weinstein. According to the New York Post, there was an apparent financial arrangement:
NYP – […] Prosecutors alleged during the hearing that they had recordings of Weinstein offering a podcaster $1.75 million in a jailhouse phone call to release videos to help his defense by “contaminating the jury pool and reaching the seated jurors before and after the trials.”

She started off interesting enough, I used to think she made some good points.. but then she started going down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole, and I never found her as persuasive as Alex Jones. 2. The content doesn’t seem slanted in any particular way but I have no knowledge if there is anything true or untrue in the content. But as the necessity of a fair trial goes, I agree with that as much as I agree with the second amendment.
There’s a lot of attacking from so many directions on Owens is hard to look the other way at this point. If the attacks seemed natural that might be one thing. But we’ve all seen a lot thanks to the treehouse and especially we know what a coordinated political attack looks like. We have seen it especially when it came to Trump.
I personally draw a line against Owens as she has joined others in blaming Trump for his participation in aspects of the whole Charlie Kirk and Erika’s rise thing. I don’t think it’s something the country needs right now. But I’m not going to deny there’s too much wrong with the way the case is operating.
When we get caught up NOT with what is being said but WHO said it or who is this is about, then we aren’t taking about facts. We are talking about opinions about people.
That’s a line I can see and one I won’t follow. It’s, in many ways condemning a lawyer for trying to win his case simply because we don’t like who the lawyer is defending.

I used to think Russia was a country forever corrupted by its history as the Soviet Union. That the people who live there are morally lost. I believed the picture that was painted for my entire life. And then Sundance goes to Russia and gets some facts. Same with Tucker visiting Russia, actually. So now there’s something new to think about as that topic goes.
I’m not invulnerable to the tribalisms at play here, but I can still sense it when a ‘campaign’ is afoot here. Trump’s experiences with such campaigns was a clear example we can all reference and agree that “yes, that was a fake and coordinated attack campaign.” We know what it looks like. The access Hollywood audio was real. I had to decide if I cared about it at the time. I decided I didn’t care because that’s the nature of “the casting couch” in so many ways. If we are honest, that world is a very voluntary one. It’s dark and ugly and one I would never be involved in.
The real test, if we’re being honest, is if you can see the pattern applied to others we don’t like. In this instance, Candace.
And it’s that I can’t not see the campaign itself that makes me want to reject this story line.
I pretty much hate Hollywood. It’s incredibly destructive in so many ways I get giddy when parts of it burns. The words “casting couch” became a household word long, long ago in much the same way “tossed salad” stopped referring to food. (now we have to say “chefs salad” just so you know)
But using the tools of evil and corruption isn’t a good thing even if you think it’s a good target to use it against. In this case, it’s this massive smear attack campaign tool. Only the most powerful interests are able to use this to defend their interests. Mechanically, we know and understand this fact. A person can’t make this happen, but influence organizations can. And when you see it, you should also be looking at what interests are being served.

I don’t know if the older folks around here really understand how damaging these things are to younger voters. You get a supposedly conservative voice identifying and calling out real problems…and then a few years later, they go off the deep end, shilling for nonsense or peddling insane conspiracy theories or directly taking money to manipulate their audience.
This is where you get the blackpill movement. You have these people getting interested in politics for the first time, full of energy and hope, but they put faith in whatever the current wave of online voices is and when those voices betray them, they get bitter and angry.
This is a huge problem for Millennials and Gen Z.
When you start measuring this way, what you get is something more akin to what we see destroying the left.
The left started gaining “radicals” into their tribe and the radicals took over based on a similar litmus test. It isn’t enough to be “left leaning” you must be radical left.
When people on the right or even in the center attempt to reason through what they see and those results differ from others a lot (and they often do) mistaking this for “a grift” only serves to CREATE the divisions you think are happening.
Black pilling is real. It’s a problem of hopelessness. When we say the FBI is so corrupt it can’t be saved and should be destroyed, I’m EXACTLY blackpilled on the FBI because I agree with the sentiment. And I’m sure a lot of people here agree.
And stop saying “conspiracy theory” if you don’t know what it means. If you are only accepting the implied meaning as established by government trying to cover up for their own wrong doing (which we now know for certain happened when they called the public “conspiracy theorists” to shut them up in the first place) then you are thinking wrong. Plainly and simply. What you call nonsense is merely a conflict with what you believe. And if what you believe is based on the original narrative? I’ve got some bad news for you because many of those claims are complete BS. For example, the narrative of the two parties (the furry guy and the guy who loved him) isn’t even held by the two guys themselves. But when you get into the details it gets worse. The timelines have actually been altered since the original police reports were published. The guy’s car that was hauled away had two exhaust pipes… the one in the video provided to the courts as evidence Tyler was there? It has FOUR exhaust pipes.
These things aren’t quite where they were when they started… when you decided to believe them. But your refusal to look at new information is where you really get lost.
And to put them into context you might understand, this is where the people who supported the BLM (Black Lies Matter, the other BLM is Bureau of Land Management which is yet ANOTHER thing we seem to have memory holed) got lost. They heard “hands up don’t shoot” and never looked back when new evidence was presented.
Be careful. If you think new information is worthless because for some reason the source’s character has been assassinated? Well, you might spend a moment to ask why their character was assassinated in the first place.
