You can’t make this stuff up folks.
Just days before making his next trip to lead the ‘middle-powers-summit’ in Europe where he will deliver his grandiose speech to announce ‘sovereign’ Canada is now a European subsidiary, the former central Banker turned appointed Prime Minister of Canada has announced he’s selling the Canadian airports.
Because in the banker’s world, sovereignty comes with a price, or something.
CANADA – Prime Minister Mark Carney says his government will open up Canada’s four largest airports to private investment, but that Ottawa will maintain ownership of airport land.
The prime minister said the private money will be sought through “long-term concessions” to operate these airports, which would include Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport, Trudeau International Airport in Montreal and Calgary International Airport.
“The government of Canada will retain ownership of the underlying land and assets, but we will unlock their true value by bringing in new capital and expertise to their operations and growth,” Carney said during an address at the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto on Tuesday morning. (read more)
Is China the highest bidder? As in programmed?
Gotta be.
One of these days the angry people might just revolt and one wonders just how far away that is……
They already tried that during Covid.
Their bank accounts got shut down.
Yikes.
That’s just insane.
Let me guess. China will have military bases there.
The Canadian people have no idea how bad Carney will destroy their country….
All they need to do is look at Australia.
He’s liquidating it.
YEAH, WE DO
Australia privatised it’s airports a few decades ago. Here’s what happens.
The first thing customers notice is a HUGE increase in parking fees and a reduction in parking availability (because many near terminal spots are designated VIP at insane charges that rich people pay happily).
Second, airlines ‘gate charges’ are increased steeply. The airlines have no option but to pay (where else are they going to take-off and land? Many airports are a monopoly). Those charges are then passed onto the customer.
The one positive is that services and facilities are somewhat improved.
Brookfield specializes in long-term infrastructure asset management services, for exhorbitant fees.
CCP likes to own points of entry such as ports and airports for its belt and road initiatives which lead to power and control in subject nations.
Prolly just a coincidence though, right? 😉
Moose has a decent take on it:
Interesting timing on the airport sales.

Führer Van Der Crazy is supposed to be giving a state of the EU address on Wednesday.
Van der Crazy’s plan to use €210 billion worth of frozen Russian assets to finance a loan for Ukraine may have failed, but the commission president will likely use her speech to champion her ‘Plan B’ – a €90 billion ($104 billion) debt-financed loan for Kiev, around €10 billion of which has already been disbursed.
However, Ukraine has already blown its entire 2026 defense budget on its summer drone campaign against Russian civilian targets, leaving a $27 billion gap in its finances.

VDH today: “… it seems the Canadians are classical lemmings, and they are following this Pied Piper [Carney] right over the cliff, and they’re right at the brink of the precipice, and they’ve got to draw back because he’s going to lead them into a free-fall and it’s not going to be pretty.”
