In most states the jury duty summons process comes from registered voter rolls. As a consequence, when a person is called for jury duty and is then disqualified as a non-citizen, we have another way to judge the scale of non-citizens on the voter rolls.
Reviewing lists of disqualified non-citizen jurors is now taking place in many counties led by citizen inquiry. The disqualification records, “non-juror” lists are public records in many states and counties. These reviews are turning up tens-of-thousands of non-citizens who are on juror lists, which means they are also on voter rolls.
(New Jersey Globe) – About 75,000 noncitizens are summoned for jury duty in New Jersey each year, based on data from three state government agencies, including the Motor Vehicle Commission — a stunning figure that widens the scope of a growing controversy over government databases that may incorrectly identify noncitizens as eligible voters and jurors.
While the number is alarming, there’s no indication that noncitizens have served on a jury since the judiciary implemented additional guardrails to prevent it.
“Prospective jurors are asked about their citizenship and other qualifications when they complete the mandatory juror qualification questionnaire,” said Pete McAleer, a spokesman for the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts. “Those who advance are reminded of the eligibility requirements during jury orientation and are directly questioned about their citizenship during jury selection by the judge and, as permitted, the attorneys.”
In between, potential jurors watch a training video that includes the citizenship requirement.
The revelation of noncitizens making their way into jury pools comes three days after Gov. Mikie Sherrill disclosed that an alleged software glitch at motor vehicles led to the inclusion of roughly 6,600 noncitizens on New Jersey’s voter rolls; Sherrill blamed the vendor, IDEMIA, and said less than 400 noncitizens have voted in recent elections.

That 75,000/yr number are just those summoned people who disqualified themselves by being truthful about their status. I firmly believe the average non-pretending American will soon to realize/admit that many non-citizens actually remained on juries and passed judgement during trial.

If I was a defense lawyer with one or more recent jury trial losses I would be camped outside the courthouse waiting for them to open.
Conviction after a jury trial with ineligible jurors would probably be appealed on the grounds of ineffective assistance of counsel. A good defense attorney would normally challenge ineligible jurors at the beginning of a trial. I’d be interested to know whether grand juries in, for example Fairfax County, Virginia (a sanctuary jurisdiction), are being vetted for non-citizen grand jurors by the Commonwealth/State Prosecuting Attorneys. Defendant’s do not readily have access to the identity and qualifications of grand jurors. Sundance raises a good point in this post.
If the defense loses the case then I suspect they might challenge whether all jurors were eligible, unless calling it into question would expose such a huge baked in advantage for those who willingly subvert the law to weaken our system.
Ineligible jurors and flaunting the law may be in the defenses’ favor.

Ineffective assistance of counsel falls under the 6th Amendment wherein an accused is entitled to a fair trial. Moreover, the same amendment also affords one to a jury by ones “peers,” which I believe the Framers would describe as “fellow citizens” as opposed to illegal aliens.

I have long expressed that the jury selection process needs to be done individually; not just the initial 18 to 24 potential jurors asked all questions in mass.
Many jury trials a person ends up on a jury having never answered a question verbally. Shakes and nods of the head don’t count.

New Jersey had an estimated population of 9,548,215 as of July 1, 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
As of late July 2026, New Jersey has approximately 6.9 million registered voters, with recent data from April 2026 citing a total of 6,679,849 registrants. The electorate is composed primarily of Democrats (38.5%), Independents/Unaffiliated voters (35.2%), and Republicans (25.2%).
If 75,000 are all registered voters that would be about 1% of NJ total registered voters.
Add in dead people who still vote, probable duplicate registrations, etc. and it is easy to see why NJ only elects Democrats.
I am well into my 60s and have been called for jury duty only twice. If 75,000 non-citizens are called every year and rejected, how many non-citizens are on the voter rolls and not called?

The number of times I’ve been summoned for jury duty throughout my lifetime I can count on one hand. That leaves millions more undetected illegals within the DMV rolls as well as the automatic voter registrations that go hand in hand.
NJ has a licensed-noncitizen population at roughly 650,000–850,000 people. If all of them were “somehow” registered to vote does that make a difference in elections?

Anyone who lives in NJ knows how flooded NJ is with illegals. Paying for illegals is why the taxes are among the highest in the country. In some towns, tax payments are higher than mortgage payments. A $15,000 real estate tax bill for a modest home in a so-so community is not unheard of. Many of the residents in NJ deny that illegals are the reason for the exorbitant taxes. I get into arguments with people there who complain about the salaries of school administrators, like that is the reason for the high taxes. When I bring up that half of the schools could have been closed if there were no illegals and anchor babies and that is much more of an expenditure than salaries, they refuse to listen. Just imagine if you only had to pay half of the high salaries of school administrators. There are school districts in NJ where over 90% of students are illegals or anchor babies.
The States and Federal Government pay tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer money each year to have illegal aliens in K-12 government schools. I am referring to students who are themselves illegal aliens, not students who are legally here and have parents who are illegal aliens. Apart from the policy justification of preventing taxpayer money from being spent on illegal aliens, one of the best ways to cause illegal aliens to self-deport, is to cut-off access to K-12 Government schools for illegal aliens. Many people say this cannot be done because of the 1982 U.S. Supreme Court case entitled Plyler v. Doe. However, the dissent in Plyler v. Doe is correct, and the present Supreme Court may overrule it. But most significantly, even if Plyler is not overruled, it can be distinguished from any present situation where providing tax dollars for illegal aliens in K-12 causes many types of harms to the education of non-illegal aliens by absorbing resources and costs huge amounts of money. Remember, the Federal District Court opinion that ruled California’s Proposition 187 from 1994 unconstitutional, based on Plyer, was appealed to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. I have a jury summons in New York state and they do not ask the citizenship question on the form. Will they ask when I go to court??? NY is one of the states that illegal aliens can sign up for a voter registration card when they get a drivers license by just checking the box that they are a citizen.

When they fill out the forms it AUTOMATICALLY enrolls them into the voting system…unless they opt out! That’s where Comisota stands.

We shouldn’t focus on illegal aliens voting to the exclusion of all else. If an Illegal alien can get on a voting roll without a valid SS #, this means anyone that knows the system can put any name they want in there. Illegal aliens are one thing and should be stopped, but we also have dead people, kids that went to college in the county 20 years ago, and folks that were just made up whole cloth.
I am in Delaware. When my father died, I was left to deal with settlement of all his debts. It was easy because my father owned nothing, but what was inside his rental house. The only things I has to settle was his electric, water, cable, trash and bank accounts. Landlord gave me thirty days to clear the house. I paid off his bills and closed his checking accounts.After the thirty days I took the necessary paperwork to the post office to have his name purged from the US Postal Service. I was asked for my state issued ID/ driver license. I was told he would be purged. Not even three months later my deceased father was summoned for jury duty. His summons came to my home addressed to him as if he were alive and living there. I ignored it and threw it in the shred box. Two more followed with the threatening of contempt for failing to answer. That set me off. I wrote a strongly worded letter to my state Auditor who was at the time a republican with the last name Wagner. I demanded an explanation as to how a deceased person was resurrected, given a new address by the state of Delaware and summoned for jury duty. I asked how many dead people were being resurrected, given new address and being called for jury duty. I threw in the suspicion of dead voters and asked if the state audits anything other than tax forms. I was actually thinking at the time to show up at the courthouse with his summons and urn of ashes in my hands. Anyway, the auditor did do some digging and had sent me a PDF of what the investigation uncovered and if I remember correctly the number was over two thousand but less than three thousand. I wish I had kept a copy of that PDF. Then suddenly Mr. Wagner who had done his job was under attack by the democrats and lost his re-election bid.

I’ve been saying this for years. I recall reading somewhere that 20% of the jury summonses in California are returned marked, “I cannot serve. I am not a US citizen.”
We moved from our home state 3 years ago. My now late husband received a jury duty noticeI. I wrote the court and got him excused. I wrote to Registrat of Voters informing her we had moved from the State. Guess what came last month? I do’t understand in this age of computers, why they can’t keep the records updated.

Every defense attorney is going to ask each juror: “Are you an American citizen?” on the juror questionnaire and then they are going to ask them in Court during selection. So, unAmericans get the chance to write and say they are citizens…and then the defense attorney is going to ask that citizenship be verified, which is where the Fed’s E-Verify just might come in handy.
Enterprising voter fraud sleuths might want to follow jury trials to get pre-trial materials to use as evidence for their own purposes of cleaning up voter rolls.
