Our government used Americans for military hardware target practice?
Like using experimental clot shots on Americans after creating a ginned-up global pandemic? Like killing JFK because he refused to use nuclear bombs on Castro’s Cuba?. What am I missing? Didn’t it mainly perforate 2 layers of neck skin, an artery, and pass on thru? Or was the bullet barely contained in the neck? (I haven’t followed the story that closely)
If the bullet passed thru and didn’t hit a body part that’s massive, like a thigh or shoulder with dense muscle and bone, then very little of the bullet’s momentum would have been converted to explosive rebound and blasting a wound open. Think slice, not bash.

I’ve read Cashell’s book too, and many other investigative reports on a wide variety of subjects that he covered for WND. He’s one of the best in his field in my lifetime, IMHO. So many eyewitnesses to that horrible tragedy were threatened and forced to recant what they saw. I’ve always been of the opinion that Iran was involved as payback for our accidental downing an Iran Air passenger jet by the USS Vincennes back in 1988…and the FBI’s actions did nothing to dispel that belief. Out of the hundreds of that model 747, it was the only one to suffer that “malfunction”, and James Kalstrom’s behavior as the enforcer of the narrative was a bit too visible for a fuel vapor explosion.

Years ago I read that over 90% of airplane crashes like this are targeted assassinations. I don’t know for a fact if that’s true but if it is, then the next question is, who was on the flight manifest that needed removal. All the others were collateral damage.

Learned in an hour long documentary years ago: Plane sat on tarmac for a long time. AC unit heated up center-line fuel tank causing significant fuel fumes. Electrical wire short ignited it. Ascending flaming object was the remaining winged portion of the plane ascending at a steep angle due to massive center of gravity shift after the forward section blew off, matching simulations. No explosive residue found anywhere. Now, tanks are purged with nitrogen.
BTW, from the aircraft accident investigation shows I’ve watched, one of the very few government agencies I greatly respect is NTSB aircraft accident investigations. They use the scientific method all the way. If the government applied that to everything, 90% of “our” pols would be fired or in prison.
The official probable cause of the TWA Flight 800 accident (July 17, 1996), as determined by the NTSB after a lengthy investigation:
– Explosion in the center wing fuel tank (CWT): The aircraft suffered an in-flight breakup due to the explosion of a flammable fuel/air mixture in the nearly empty center wing fuel tank.
– Ignition source: The most likely cause of ignition was a short circuit outside the CWT that allowed excessive voltage to enter the tank through the electrical wiring of the fuel quantity indication system (FQIS). The exact ignition energy source could not be determined with absolute certainty, but this scenario was deemed the most probable among those evaluated.

– The prevailing design philosophy assumed fuel tank explosions could be prevented solely by eliminating ignition sources, without adequate measures to reduce fuel tank flammability.
– Heat sources were located beneath the CWT (e.g., air conditioning packs) with no effective means to prevent heat transfer into the tank or to make fuel vapors non-flammable.
– Aircraft condition: The Boeing 747-131 (N93119) was about 25 years old at the time. Investigators noted issues with wiring, including potential degradation and arcing risks in the FQIS system; the captain had reported anomalous (“crazy”) fuel quantity readings shortly before the explosion.
– Context and aftermath: No evidence supported criminal activity (e.g., missile or bomb). The investigation was one of the most extensive and costly in NTSB history and led to FAA-mandated improvements in fuel tank inerting, wiring standards, and ignition prevention across the industry.
These findings are based on wreckage analysis, scientific testing, witness statements, and flight data. Conspiracy theories (e.g., missile strike) were thoroughly investigated and ruled out by the NTSB and FBI.
– Fuel tank inerting systems are now required or widely implemented on many large commercial jets (especially those with center wing tanks or “normally emptied” tanks) following the TWA Flight 800 accident and subsequent FAA regulations (e.g., updates to 14 CFR Part 25 and related rules around 2008).

In the video posted by Sundance one of the investigators explained why the fuel tank explosion theory was not plausible.

There is no credible evidence that a Navy ship fired a missile that hit TWA-800.
There are about 400 crewmen assigned to a Ticonderoga class cruiser, if you count a two-bird helo det. To suggest that 400 Navy personnel participated in the mass murder of 230 people and covered it up for thirty years is madness. Literally everyone on board would hear the missile launch, and if they were in a noisy space like an engineroom, they’d hear about it via the grapevine within minutes.
Add to that total the people involved in shoreside Standard missile inventories and maintenance and you’re probably up over 600.
They’re talking about the same Navy that requires ships to account for every round of ammunition of all calibers, from small arms carried by security watches to the missiles stored in magazines.

I was a department head at the naval activity that was responsible for missile testing at that time. Not personally involved with surface to air missiles but we were all in the same building. Powerful. Aerospace engineer here who has worked on many weapons systems. Always had faith in the NTSB, but this was plainly FBI, whom I have never had faith in. There is no way on God’s green Earth that the center tank had oxygen in it to form explosive vapors. Even the vapor pressure of the fuel is enough to maintain positive pressure on the tank, let alone the surface pressure still bleeding off after 12 minutes of flight. Our cars ALL have fuel pumps in the tanks and rely on active pressure and vapor pressure for the same thing. If TWA 800 exploded by this theory, our cars would likewise explode when our fuel tanks reach low levels. And anyone who has ever worked with cars knows that diesel fuel does NOT ignite with a spark like gasoline. The activation energy of diesel fuel (and its cousin jet fuel) is much higher, which is why jet engines are hard to ignite after a flameout. I believed from the day this happened that it was a terrorist MANPAD. Likely one we gave to the Mujahadeen during the Soviet occupation. The evidence, especially the form of the fuselage debris around the tank before the FBI hammered them flat, is all you need to know.
I agree w/ 95% of your observations. One thing: I don’t know about MANPADs in this instance, but there was “BLUE” around the suspected “entrance hole” in the CFT (belly fuel tank area) …
What color are USN “airborne practice munitions” painted … ??? BLUE …
My former USMC buddy, then a current airline and B-747 FAA G0-Team guy later told me they were ordered “to leave the hangar” after observing and commenting on this and the next morning when they returned the suspect “blue hole” on the belly skin was “missing” … according to him.
I cannot draw any “conclusions” from this, but I can say that any and all of my USN air-delivered “practice” ordnance in the old days was indeed painted “BLUE”.
