Judicial Watch presents an investigative review of TWA flight 800 thirty years later. Many of us likely remember the horrific news of the 747 explosion, crash and subsequent investigation that never made sense.
Within the new documentary, Judicial Watch emphasizes the focus of the ¹FBI in taking control of the investigation which never made sense. Friend of the Treehouse Jack Cashill is one of the experts who gives testimony within the documentary. The 45-minute video is very well worth watching.

The Alaska Air crash was clear mechanical failure and there had been whistleblowers prior to the crash warning about the fact that the jackscrew maintenance was not being done correctly nor on schedule!
Swiss Air was a cabin fire due to the recent installation of a new electrical system, and a significant amount of flammable material in the area where it had been installed.
Egypt Air, similar to the events of 9/11, was caused by a Muslim extremist who should never have been allowed to fly anything, let alone a large passenger jet!

IIRC…one eye witness was a Naval Officer on vacation ….standing on the beach. He said he saw a ship to air missile hit the airplane.

All aircraft incidents and accidents are handled by the FAA. If there is a fatality involved, then the NTSB steps in and takes over.

All of this cover-up in late July 1996 was to save Bill Clinton’s re-election that fall. The White House situation room was monitoring the secret missile test when it went catastrophically wrong. There were air traffic control radar tapes that disappeared because they recorded the missile rising and intercepting the airliner.
Nobody ever explained why U.S. Navy ships present below quickly steamed away from their positions in the sea where the airliner debris fell.
I recall reading about that CIA animation somewhere and in some detail. I don’t recall which entity was investigating their involvement…possibly some Senator, but I recall the CIA refusing to provide the full names of two of the briefers sent to answer questions about it. I believe they also refused to provide any details about how they concluded the animation was possible.
Many at the time voiced their belief that the animation was complete bull squeeze, but eventually that interest went quiet.
The CIA essentially did the same thing after the first Gulf War when the government was forced to admit US soldiers were exposed to chemical fall-out when bunkers were bombed. Their “timeline” and mapping of the fall-out for the exposure was essentially 3 days, and did not account for any troop movement during that 3 days. If your unit was on one side of a road, you were considered exposed. If your unit was on the other side, you were not exposed. It didn’t matter if soldiers left their unit at any point or any time in those 3 days.
And the CIA with the zoom climb cartoon says much the same.

I remember clearly when this happened. Katie Couric was interviewing the husband and father of three victims, his wife and two daughters were taking a trip to Paris together. The girls were only 10 or 11 years old and they were on the flight.
“The girls can swim” he said. He mentioned their names and said “I won’t stop looking for you.” I have never forgotten that man’s words and his hope against hope that they would be found.
Were I in his shoes, I’d rather be crazy than accept reality.

I remember the constant discrediting of a bomb or missile strike by the authorities. Something just didn’t add up.
Then they discovered traces of nitroglycerin and other chemicals which fueled the bomb theory but later on the authorities said this came from glue. Now I’m no scientist but I wasn’t born yesterday either.
I also know that while kerosene is considered flammable it doesn’t really burn all that well.

Making matters worse is that the government came up with an explanation for why explosive residue was found. Bomb sniffing dog test. Case closed. Until it was later learned that the aircraft aboard which the test was run could not have been N93119. So they came up with another story about transporting troops home from Kuwait.

I distinctly remember where I was that weekend, because I was out of town and and due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to spend the night in house with two heavy smokers in a house that also smelled from 4 large dogs.

30 years ago, I was an avid listener to the Art Bell program (Coast to Coast AM) and the subject of TWA flight 800 was hashed over time and time again by Mr. Bell and Mr. Cashill. None of it made any sense, especially when there were so many eyewitness accounts of missiles streaking toward the jet. I’ve been following this topic closely ever since!
What stands out for me was that there no corrective action taken by the airplane manufactures to avoid another accidental failure of what they blamed it on.

NTSB was created around 1967. BATF was created in the late 1700’s…moved to the treasury dept around 1972 and then to DOJ around 2003, following the Homeland Security Act of 2002….haha, any questions?
Yes, usually all aircraft of that type (747s) would be grounded; at least for a short period of time while details could be examined. I don’t recall that happening.

I used to listen to Art regularly as I worked the swing shift so he kept me alert on my 45 minute drive home st night. That show was fascinating.
Long drives from parents in the Bay Area to home for me – Bell kept me up in eager and incredulous anticipation .Onlt time I listened to him – too fringy for me, but great for late night driving when one needed to stay awake. Where did he fit into the current state of affairs and what was his real mission and connections to the tales he wove? He certainly was not mainstream radio at the time.

According to a senior member of the staff of then-Secretary of the Navy John Dalton, the test firing of a new generation Navy missile from the submarine USS Seawolf accidentally struck TWA flight 800 en route from New York to Paris on July 17, 1996. According to the former Navy official, the missile test was so important for the Clinton administration, it was being shown live on a Navy closed-circuit television feed at the White House. The Seawolf’s missile was to have struck a drone reportedly being towed by a Navy P-3 Orion maritime surveillance aircraft. However, to the horror of the Navy personnel involved with the test and senior White House staff gathered to witness the missile’s successful launching, it veered off course and intercepted the TWA 800 Boeing 747, killing the 230 passengers and crew on board the aircraft.
ABC News Paris correspondent and former John F. Kennedy Press Secretary and U.S. Senator Pierre Salinger reported that a U.S. Navy missile, according to his sources, had downed TWA 800. A vicious smear campaign was launched against Salinger and he was eventually fired by ABC. This editor subsequently spoke at length with Salinger about both TWA 800 and Pan Am 103. We agreed that the investigations of both involved U.S. government cover-ups.
The Seawolf, which had recently completed sea trials but had not yet been fully commissioned into service, was participating in a major Navy exercise off Long Island in exercise area W-105. The exercise was dubbed GLOBAL YANKEE ’96. Ironically, the Seawolf was to be commissioned in Groton, Connecticut on July 17, 1997, the anniversary of the shooting down of TWA 800, but the Navy, sensitive to the date, altered the commissioning to July 19, two days later. Margaret Dalton, the wife of Navy Secretary John Dalton, carried out the submarine’s “christening” in Groton.
The FBI initially believed that terrorism was the cause of the crash of TWA 800 and it ran a criminal investigation parallel to that of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). However, as the need to cover-up the missile angle became paramount, the FBI changed modes and began harassing witnesses who clearly saw a bright streak or arc in the sky moments before the massive explosion tore apart the Boeing 747 sending bodies and debris into the Atlantic Ocean. Two Air National Guard Blackhawk helicopter pilots saw an orange-red streak prior to the fireball while conducting helicopter training approaches at nearby Gabreski Field.
But the missile theory never could be put to rest. Senator Alphonse d’Amato (R-NY) said he believed a missile struck TWA 800, as did a number of individuals with military and flight experience. D’Amato served on the President’s Commission on Aviation Security and Terrorism (PCAST), which was set up in September 1989 to make aviation security recommendations after the bombing of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. In 1993, D’Amato opposed funding any more Seawolfsubmarines, however, as they were built by the Groton, Connecticut-based Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics, the two Connecticut senators, Joseph Lieberman and Christopher Dodd, were strong proponents of the submarines the Navy said they did not even need in the post-Cold War era.
The unfolding events surrounding the Seawolf’s missile impact on TWA 800 was witnessed in real-time in the White House Situation Room by startled officials who were viewing what was suppose have been a successful intercept of a drone. However, according to our Secretary of the Navy senior staff source, as the impact of what transpired dawned on White House officials, the director of the White House Situation Room, Vice Admiral Kevin Cosgriff, immediately ordered the mobilization of Navy and other military assets to cover up the Navy’s role in the disaster. As the National Security Council’s director of Systems and Planning, Cosgriff was partly responsible for obtaining the White House Situation Room to show-off the Navy’s latest missile capabilities to gathered civilian and military officials.
The crew of the P-3 that was towing the drone was immediately transferred to new assignments. The P-3’s number 3 engine showed signs of damage from the explosion of TWA 800 and maintenance records on the engine were suppressed by the Navy. Three other submarines participating in GLOBAL YANKEE ’96 were also ordered out of the area. They were the USS Albuquerque, the USS Augusta, and the USS Trepang. The FBI accounted for all missiles aboard the three submarines but not those on board the Seawolf, which was not yet officially commissioned into service and which had just completed it sea trials a little over a week earlier.
Our source confirmed that US Navy SEAL team members were dispatched to recover TWA 800 wreckage with the sole intent being the alteration of the debris to fit the story of a defective fuel tank explosion. Two U.S. Navy salvage ships, the USS Grasp and USS Grapple, were sent to Long Island waters to recover TWA wreckage.
In 2000, conservative pundit Reed Irvine confirmed what Salinger had reported four years earlier. Irvine reported that he recorded an interview with a Navy petty officer who was on the deck of a submarine near where TWA 800 was hit by the missile. The petty officer told Irvine that he was “underneath TWA 800 when he saw a missile hit it and the 747 explode overhead.”
Irvine also wrote, “There are hundreds of Navy and Coast Guard personnel, as well as some FBI, CIA, FAA, NTSB and former White House employees who know that the real cause of the crash of TWA 800 was papered over with a tissue of lies. Two of them, James Kallstrom and George Stephanopoulos, have made statements that indicate an official cover-up. Stephanopoulos, a Clinton adviser who is now an ABC News correspondent, mentioned on the air a secret meeting in the White House situation room ‘in the aftermath of the TWA 800 bombing.’ Kallstrom, who headed the FBI’s TWA 800 investigation, told me – and I have this on tape – that three radar targets close to the crash site were Navy vessels on a classified maneuver. We know they were submarines because the radar tracks disappeared when TWA 800 crashed.”
One of the submarine’s that was ordered to immediately leave the area of the TWA crash was the Seawolf. The Seawolf was testing a missile that could be fired on an enemy aircraft while the submarine was fully submerged. The Navy ordered all radar data of the incident seized. The Navy and other U.S. agencies subsequently altered data tapes to be consistent with the NTSB’s contrived conclusion that TWA 800 was brought down by a spontaneous explosion in the center wing fuel tank. Radar tapes showing the P-3 at 20,000 feet and a towed drone at 17,600 feet at about a mile behind the P-3 were erased.
The Seawolf’s Cooperative Engagement Capability, which linked its weapon systems with the Aegis radar systems installed on other Navy ships participating in the exercise, also saw its data purged. Once the subsurface missile was launched, the Seawolf’s combat software no longer had control over the missile.
The Navy’s Aegis training platform, the Combat System Engineering Development Site (CSEDS), located in the middle of a cornfield in Moorestown, New Jersey, off of the New Jersey Turnpike, which had a AEGIS SPY-1 radar window off Long Island, also saw its data tapes confiscated as did the Federal Aviation Administration control center in Islip, Long Island and the FAA technical center in Atlantic City, New Jersey. A Lockheed-Martin engineer who worked at CSEDS in Moorestown said the SPY-1 radar was reported to be “down for maintenance” during the exercise, an exercise in which it was to have been a participant.
The NTSB falsified data in their cover-up, billed as an investigation. The Flight Data Recorder’s indication that something struck the Boeing 747 was brushed aside.
Hank Hughes, a former senior NTSB accident investigator, revealed in 2013 that evidence that a “high-velocity debris exiting the right side of the aircraft.” Hughes said evidence was tampered with. Other NTSB investigators joined Hughes in criticizing the NTSB’s “accident” report. Testing done by the Brookhaven and Sandia National Laboratories could yield no evidence that TWA 800 was brought down as the result of a mechanical failure.
Researchers were able to piece together the following timeline of events from open source information:
20:31:11 Intact and climbing 747 approaches 13,800 feet.
20:31:12 U.S. Navy subsurface-launched missile impacts TWA 800 at 13,800 feet. Beginning of decapitation process.
20:31:47 Massive fireball explodes in the falling wreckage at 7500 feet.
20:31:43 Wreckage begins hitting the water’s surface.
20:31:55-20:31:57 splashdown of the massive fireball flames.
A number of observers witnessed a subsurface wake after the explosion of TWA 800. The Seawolf, if ordered out of the area at maximum speed, is capable of doing over 35 knots submerged. At such a speed, a visible surface wake is very possible. The pilot of a Cessna reported seeing a distinct subsurface wake in addition to a passenger on board US Air flight 277.
The Navy continues to classify a “design deficiency” discovered during theSeawolf’s Weapons Systems Accuracy Trials (WSAT) conducted in 1998. In addition, the November 1999 Operational Assessment report cited six critical operational issues as high risk for Seawolf. The second issue on the Navy’s list was the submarine’s “weapon launch, handling, and stowage.”
President and Mrs. Clinton were attending a Democratic National Committee function at the Sheraton Washington Hotel, just a few blocks from the White House, as the Seawolf’s missile impacted with TWA 800. Rather than deal with the event in the White House Situation Room, the president and the first lady decided to retire to the private quarters of the White House and not issue any immediate comment on the tragedy. Hillary Clinton has all but announced her desire to run for president in 2016. The families of those who lost loved ones on TWA 800 may not be all that enthused about Mrs. Clinton’s ever-expanding diary of secrets.

Some weirdness in this report. Former F-14 RIO here – a P-3 towing a target at a mile sounds fantastical as does it’s inboard #3 engine sustaining damage yet nothing else? I don’t buy it. I CAN buy an SM-2 missile from a destroyer or cruiser being shot in a MISSILEX and hitting TWA800 a whole lot more than a sub shot.

It should be noted that Ron Brown’s high level Muslim associate, Mohamed Ferrat was supposed to be on Ron Brown’s doomed death flight, but he changed plans at the last minute. He later died on TWA Flight 800. Coincidence?
Not buying it. As an ex-submariner (SSN604/SSBN-SSN609), we never did any such operations anywhere near that close to land, let alone an airport (JFK) where you would have that much civilian/commercial boating and aircraft. On the day it happened I watched a video that appeared to show a missile launch from the surface that then impacted the plane. That video quickly disappeared. I believe it was a terrorist attack from day one. It was very clear with the way the government was operating that they were covering it up.
I saw the video as well and then it just disappeared from the airwaves.

Swissair 111 – September 2, 1998 – 53 minutes after takeoff from JFK- crashed into Atlantic Ocean – (entertainment system caught fire)
Egypt Air 990 – October 31, 1999 – 33 minutes after takeoff from JFK – crashed into Atlantic Ocean (pilot ‘suicidal’ and intentionally crashed the plane)
Alaska Airlines 261 – January 31, 2000 – crashed into Pacific Ocean – (Bolt broke in horizontal stabilizer. They somenow found it at the bottom of the ocean)
9-11- September 11, 2001 – Four planes hijacked. They said “oh, we never imagined people would use planes like that. Oops, sorry 2,997 American citizens who were killed, needlessly. Sorry good, hard-working American people who were forced to jump to their deaths from the top of the World Trade Center.” They had all kinds of warnings and already had been tracking many of the hijackers. They had ample opportunity to intervene, investigate and roll up the operation. They even had ample opportunity to shoot down the planes before they hit the towers, but they didn’t.
I worked in air freight forwarding during this time. They suddenly started telling us to check packages for wires, powder, etc, and to get IDs and separate shipments by ‘known’ and ‘unknown’ shippers. Something was going on. My theory is some entity was taking out passenger planes to push the US into a war. Clinton kept covering it up. Nine months after Bush is elected, 9-11 happens. Try to explain away that one as an ‘accident’. They got what they wanted. When will this ever be investigated?
I know that’s an old picture, but does anyone know if that fuselage is still patched together in a warehouse somewhere or did they eventually take it all apart again?

Jack Cashill has been steadfast in covering this tragedy. I lived and worked not far from the site. Shortly after the plane went down I spoke with a couple that were on the beach that day. They were certain something came from the horizon. The fuel tank story makes no sense. As many have noted, planes would have been falling out of the sky if this were possible.

Yes – Jack Cashill has the definitive account of this incident. Many, many witnesses saw a missile fly up from the horizon and hit the jet. His theory is that it was an accident by the navy, but since it was so close to the 1996 election, the Clinton crime family had it covered it up. The CIA took over the investigation (remember – the CIA is not supposed to have any domestic involvement) and lied about all of it. The Clintons and their handlers in the IC were responsible for the phony “investigation.”
Netflix had a TWA 800 documentary, now pulled, which i found very interesting. The now retired NTSB investigators for flight 800 give their opinions. You can find the documentary on youtube. worth the watch

I remember Pierre Salinger, JFK/s former press secretary, being interviewed saying he had photographic evidence of a rocket being fired at TWA 800, and showed the pictures. When asked where he got them, he replied off the internet. He was immediately dismissed as a kooky conspiracy theorist.
I wonder where those pictures are today and who it was that posted them.

I watched the 747 pilot Al Frank do an in depth about this. He is a flying Sundance. Horrific, like so many other things that do not pass the smell test.

Tom Stalcup’s documentary on this is really good. As is Cashill’s book. You simply cannot read through all the evidence and eyewitness accounts, and all the absurdities in the government’s story (eg a powerless, noseless 747 climbing nearly half a mile into the air with no thrust and no aerodynamic effciency) and think this was a random centerline fuel tank that exploded because warm fuel vapors were ignited by wiring bundles that don’t carry anywhere near the voltage to actually ignite jet A.
Bring this up in a discussion of self-appointed experts and they get personally vicious to a point of bizarre. It’s a really strange case to discuss online in aviation forums. The people who question the official version, and who generally believe that this was a training accident gone wrong and covered up are all calm, levelheaded people. It’s the pro spontaneous-combustion set that gets really nasty. Odd.
Side note…and US Airways 1549 landed without loss of life…granted different situation, but sure messed up the impending narrative esp when they found the other engine.

I have > 24K hours in the B-747 and the “official center fuel tank and pumps” explanation is just not true.
And I am aware of — let’s just say I have “some knowledge” or opinion of some of the details present and visible on the hangar floor in Calverton, post incident, etc., etc. … one of my friends was on the FAA.”Go Team”/investigation team and we talked about it in some length in Tokyo …

Hard to believe it’s been 30 years for TWA-800. Yikes. I could be wrong, but it seems when the FBI gets involved evidence disappears.
Remember the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay shootings where a guy was shooting into the crowd at an outdoor concert? FBI arrived on scene and confiscated all cell phones and security cameras…never to be seen again.
At the same time Attorney General Eric Holder was involved with “Fast and Furious.”..running guns to the drug cartels in Mexico. Some of those same guns were used to shoot innocent concert goers in Vegas.
It’s all too strange to believe….

Years ago a friend from a Tea Party next country over was looking for attendees to go hear a guest speaker, I went to be supportive, and turns out Chris Farrell was the speaker. He was fantastic, a nice but small crowd of folks in the VFW, he engaged and talked for hours w/us post his planned talk. We all had a great time. He works hard to find the truth!

Two Nassau County Police Officers in the vicinity of Jones Beach reported that they saw a missile strike the aircraft and it blew-up.
That was immediately after the aircraft blew-up.
After watching the video…and memories of the initial investigations, way back…
And all the super qualified witnesses, the two above, or the Navy officer mentioned, experienced pilots, engineers, the scientists etc…
Is kind of reminiscent of how pilots were treated if they filed a report related to UFO sightings while in the cockpit…they kept quiet, due to the potential of being ostracized or grounded.

Hell, the Captain of the ship that fired the missile said they often practiced on civilian aircraft, aiming and tracking ‘electronic’ missiles. He admitted to actually firing a real missile in testimony…….. and it went nowhere.
Certainly the 280 credible witnesses and suspect fishing boat are convincing. Who has ever heard of a pleasure (fishing) boat being wiped clean of a single fingerprint?
Was it random or was it targeted? Who would a terrorist have wanted to be killed specifically? For a targeted downing, One would have to examine each passenger’s known connections and acquaintances as well as what might have been going on politically before the downing.
A random attack fits the MO of terrorist attacks we have seen since, in our own country as well as others.
I remember this “crash” and how many I knew who did not believe the “official” story, but their seeing of a projectile coming from the ground.
I’m still haunted by the Hopewell, PA crash and then the 9/11/01 “crash” in Shanksville, PA. as well as the “plane” that hit the Pentagon right where the auditor’s were sittting the day after Rumsfeld announced there were trillions(?) missing on the Pentagon balance sheet. A plane did not fly into the Pentagon – camera’s captured a missile that just “happened to be flying by”.
One thing I resent more than anything is when humans who question “what really happened” are expected to believe the ” official explanation, ” almost as if when you stop grieving the ones lost “you’ll get over it.”
I used to work and play softball with people on the Hopewell plane. The explanation for that one was the weight of boxes of records they were bringing back from the conference caused the weight and balance to go screwy. Oh sure. There are actual job/positions in the airlines re “weight and balance.”
This documentary was “good” for me to watch, if only for how it distracted me from the “Carney-ville” BS re the wildfires.
My God has not forsaken me but expects that I use discernment. Today was an overdose of doing so.

Why was the CIA participating in the investigation of a domestic aviation incident in the first place? And if the incident was determined to be a tragic accident, then why did the CIA continue to participate in that investigation until its conclusion?

Having read Jack’s book when it came out and having read comments by veterans who were in a position to know, and knowing the Clintons, I do believe it was a missile that brought the plane down.
I’m just shocked at how they managed to clamp down on every eyewitness. It was more than a few that saw what happened. But then, I believe there were one or two that went to jail or prosecution was attempted for trying to get at the truth. That put the fear of Big Government in anyone else thinking they might tell what they knew.
It certainly was a prelude to other cover-ups.
I can’t imagine them getting away with the same nonsense today with the number of home security cameras, ring doorbell cameras, government surveillance cameras, or just somebody filming another Tik-Tok dance video.
You don’t have to “imagine” it. Watch the preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson. Don’t miss the part where the judge directly asks the prosecution if they have video of the shooting. Prosecutor answers, “No.” Then watch all the MAGA influencers filming themselves, telling the world about the 100% conclusive evidence on video, shown in court, proving that Tyler Robinson is the killer.

It is a movie but I don’t know how many times I’ve watched “Fearless” with Jeff Bridges. Worth watching if like me, you have fear and dread about using a air travel. Or it could make itworse.
After a flight went down somewhere near Malaysia (I think) which has not yet been found or recovered that I know of, a coworker refused to fly anywhere for anything that was required for work.

When the FAA and NTSB investigate aircraft accidents they are looking for answers to two questions. 1) They need to know what happened. 2) They need to know why it happened.
Determining exactly why something happened is crucial in making changes to insure that the scenario never happens again. In the case of a mechanical failure, such as a design flaw in a fuel tank, corrective measures are taken in the form of service bulletins and Airworthiness Directives. These instructions are aimed at the owners of similar aircraft advising and sometimes mandating corrective measures that need to be taken and how to go about performing the corrective actions. I don’t recall hearing anything about mandating all 747 owners being required to make fuel tank changes on their aircraft to prevent the possibility of a catastrophic explosion.
And speaking of explosions, has anyone ever heard of a can of kerosene suddenly exploding because of a single spark? I haven’t. Kerosene is flammable, but it is very stable. The jet fuel that power our airlines is basically kerosene that has a paper trail of strict quality control measures applied to it.
Not to diminish what happened with TWA 800 but a good part of the reason everyone was so skeptical about the investigation was that the 90’s were full of events that made us all wonder. Waco, Ruby Ridge, the countless suicides, Ron Brown’s death, and so on. That decade changed us all.
