Now that former Maine Democrat senate candidate Graham Platner has ended his 2026 campaign following revelations of his Nazi outlooks and rape propensity, the options for his replacement held a debate last evening.
During opening statements, each of the candidates, David Costello, Elizabeth Dickerson, Dan Kleban and Ashley Webb made the best case for their candidacy to defeat Republican Susan Collins in the 2026 general election.
Some Democrats have pointed to this debate as evidence for why Democrats should have stuck with Graham Platner. Other people have compared the debate to a Saturday Night Live skit. However, the bottom line is that currently the Maine senate race is 50/50 with either of the four options. WATCH (5 mins):

The Senate will not pass the SAVE Act. That it will not be passed is a done deal, it is now water under the bridge.
What must happen instead is that first, President Trump must bring the receipts for proving that massive mail-in ballot fraud has occurred, something he hasn’t done yet.
Next, he must declare a National Security Emergency based on the receipts from Chinese interference in the 2020 election and the receipts from massive mail-in ballot fraud in the 2020 election.
Both sets of receipts are necessary. One without the other will not bring credible proof to the table powerful enough to convince large numbers of Americans that the 2020 election was in fact stolen.
Third, President Trump and his team must manage the narrative of the ensuing media firestorm after the National Security Emergency has been declared.
Fourth, he must tell RINO Republicans that they either publicly acknowledge that the 2020 election was stolen and thereby gain the support of the MAGA voter base, or else they lose the Congress to the Democrats.
This is how the 2026 mid-terms can be won without passing the SAVE Act — by showing the MAGA voter base that President Trump and the Republicans are willing to do whatever it takes to deliver a key promise to the base, decisive action on election integrity.

i.e. There is more money (committee appointments) in being in the “minority”, and “selling” votes from “his” (not our) party, to satisfy cloture.

If I were a Mainer, I’d likely just sit this one out. The “vote Republican as it’s the lesser of two evils” is why we can’t get “The Save America Act” enacted, nor recess appointments. Meanwhile, the Democrats have shown that an aligned minority can accomplish much.

DHS has the power to do some very radical measures under the National Security banner on voting. BTW, these national security measures would not be subject to judicial review.
