Today, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is hosting an event with various governments for a Ministerial on the Resurgence of Political Terrorism. The event focuses on the reemergence of this threat to society and encourages stronger joint action to reinforce frontline defenses and close the gaps the terrorist actors continue to exploit.
As part of the State Department effort, Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered a remarkable speech to the audience. Within his remarks Rubio outlines the history of left-wing violence and lists current examples of how dangerous this has become. In many ways this is the anti-Obama speech that has long been needed.
This is a moment that can reset how we view terrorism in the 21st century, shifting from a terror-threat focus from Islamic extremism to the more pervasive threat from left-wing political violence. WATCH:
STATE DEPT – […] Far-left political terrorism is resurgent, manifesting in violent terrorist acts across the Western Hemisphere, Europe, Asia and beyond. These are not isolated incidents. They reflect a deliberate, ideologically motivated strategy to destabilize free societies by violently targeting our political and economic systems, including attacks against private citizens, government officials, police and law enforcement, businesses, and critical infrastructure around the globe. For too long, however, this threat has remained a blind spot in the international community’s counterterrorism focus, underestimated and under-resourced, despite the danger it poses.
The United States is taking a leading role in countering far-left terrorism. Since November 2025, the United States has designated four violent far-left groups — Antifa Ost, the Informal Anarchist Federation/International Revolutionary Front (FAI/FRI), Armed Proletarian Justice, and Revolutionary Class Self-Defense — as Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists, as well as offered a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the disruption of the financial mechanisms of these same four organizations.
In recent months, the United States engaged also law enforcement, counterterrorism professionals, and prosecutors around the globe through direct engagements, as well as the inaugural Counterterrorism Law Enforcement Workshop (CTLEW) in May 2026, which convened 14 countries for a two-day, practitioner-focused workshop to exchange best practices for countering the threat of transnational far-left terrorism.
This Ministerial builds on that foundation, bringing together partners from across the Western Hemisphere, Europe, and Asia to expand coordination, enhance information sharing, and strengthen international law enforcement mechanisms to counter the threat. Vance was complaining about the opposition he faced for signing what many, including myself, saw as a humiliating deal that left the Iranians feeling like the winners of a war in which our military crushed theirs, a deal that, it bears mentioning, has already fallen apart because the Iranians are who the deal’s opponents said they were.
Rather than do any soul searching for the role he played in having the U.S. sign a ridiculously bad deal that was actually worse than the JCPOA that Vance himself spent years mocking, Vance blamed the push back on a “very discreet, extremely well-funded campaign to try to derail the negotiation” paid for by the Israeli government.

Not gonna choose between Vance or Rubio quite yet. I want to see the rest of the potential 2028 GOP field before deciding.
I believe JD would have no problem running against and even losing to Marco but they need to resolve Rubio’s statement that he will not run if Vance is running.
The problem as I see it is Rubio just doesn’t make sense as VP to Vance. It is almost a step down. Vance as VP to Rubio is not a role JD would gain more experience and wisdom.
If JD were to sit this one out, spend time raising his kids and adding “gravitas” in some way to his resume, he could run for president in 8 years but only if Rubio picks a VP that might not. I don’t think Vance losing to a serving VP in 8 years would help his aspirations.
If these two were able to work together to make sure whatever they do helps MAGA, we all would be better off. Hopium? Sure.
My perception is that Mr. Rubio is an outstanding SOS, and is clearly speaking on behalf of the policies of Mr. Trump and the MAGA platform. Perhaps we could benefit from that as a nation for another term. Perhaps he doesn’t pine for the potus position?

I like JD Vance for the most part but I just listened to his interview with Rogan and he spent five minutes discussing whether men should eat corndogs or bananas in public for fear that people will turn it into a meme about them being gay….

This guy has been so visible, and on the right side of so many issues lately, that I don’t think PDJT’s endorsement of Vance is going to be enough in 28.
Notwithstanding his obvious deep state past, Rubio seems to be burning all those bridges openly now. And his strong anti-communist stance is also going to serve him well, at precisely the right time. We’ll see. PDJT has been a once in a lifetime President that is going to be hard to replace.
I think the very fact that Secretary Rubio is Cuban-American is prima facie evidence that he views communism as anathema to American society.

I don’t expect it to end abruptly at the end of PDJT’s term, but for it to slowly fade over the following couple years into something else. Maybe good, maybe not as good. Provided that he enjoys the successor coattails that Reagan did.

It’s ludicrous to believe President Trump would treat Rubio the way he does in public if Rubio was “forced” on him — and it also shows Rubio is doing what the President wants, which is what matters the most.
My point is not to promote Rubio. My point is that anyone can claim to have special information, but that doesn’t make it true.
It is not widely accepted or acknowledged. And very few people outside of politics are “all in” on anyone yet.

Every bit as serious as President Trump. I still don’t have the sense that I “understand” Secretary Rubio in the way I understand President Trump. But all too soon we must choose another leader and Rubio is showing himself to fill that purpose.
Am personally beginning to understand SECY Rubio in the sense that you describe, sharing a heritage of ancestors coming ashore fleeing communist tyranny; if a few generations back. Lenin/Stalin’s Terror, disappeared relatives and the gulags were living memory for them.
Yes, I admire what his family has been through, his support of MAGA and President Trump, his work ethic, and what I heard in the speech he gave about faith. I think he is a more guarded person than President Trump. I didn’t especially care for Donald Trump the New Yorker, although I thought he did good things. But as soon as he entered the election and started sharing his views, I jumped on board. It seems Rubio is more reluctant to show his real self, but of course he’s not a billioinaire and he worked his way up in politics. So he had to learn to play his cards close to his vest.
The main sticking points for me have to do with his history in the Senate because I don’t agree with some of how he voted. Although I can’t claim I know all the details one way or the other. On the other hand he survived Washington and the GOP to get where he is today under the tutelage of President Trump and Rubio seems to have been converted to MAGA.

To date, the two who have shown the most stature are Elise Stefanik and Sarah Huckabee. And Sarah is big and mean enough to put her boots to a lot of backsides.
SOS Rubio has already stated that if VP Vance runs he will support him; he is not willing to divide the party further.

A few decades ago, just as the Secretary brings up about the media acceptance of domestic acts of violence as people just trying to make their point, I remember the radical environmental groups pounding metal spikes into trees so that loggers couldn’t cut the trees that the Forest Service had issued permits to cut, hurting, in a few cases, causing the death of loggers whose chainsaws hit those spikes;
we hired retired vets with severe PTSD that literally could not live in cities or towns needing to live in the desert areas because they literally needed to “see what was out there, if anything was coming toward them, so to not be surprised” to watch our mine sites and equipment because those same environmentalists would pull over and dump sacks of sugar into the fuel tanks and cut the hydraulic lines of the dozers and such.
Instead of going after the domestic environmentalists the law said we, the mine operator, were “creating a curiosity” so we were setting up entrapment circumstances.
Now we have the outgrowth of extreme violent ANTIFA groups because no one thought to come down hard on those environmentalists.

Certainly, one of the many ways that Trump became a bil-lionire was by carefully selecting the teams that would work with him. “This time around,” he ignored the “DC Experts” and made the selections himself. And, if I may say, I think that he made stunning selections. Including both his Vice-President and his Secretary of State, but also many others.
The result that you now see is: “a team.”
“President Trump, the individual real-estate investor,” could never have become “so filthy rich” without everyone else(!) that he helped to select to go there with him. He did not gain this wealth alone.

Great insightful speeches by Rubio and Miller. Lots of specifics, history, and modern examples to support their initiative of stopping left wing terror. Especially prescient was the many descriptions of lefties and their behavior, their dress, their anger, their contempt, their jealousy, and their outward appearance reflecting who they are inside.
So much to absorb, I hope these speeches turn into policy and non-stop effort to get people to understand what we are up against.
Destroy the leftist media would be the first step I would take beginning with taking away the names “public” from NPR, PBS, and all their affiliates. Force new names on them and start a new, truly public media, made up of a self governing consortium of anyone who wants to join and participate in communicating with the public in a fair even handed way. Small media or large, they all get equal say and all get their chance to present themselves on a new network dedicated to all points of view.
Just imagine if ABCNNBCBS were forced to have the first 5 minutes of their allotted broadcast time given to alternative media that gives people information they have never heard before. Excerpts from these two speeches would be a great start.
