I’m beginning to resent that our legislative body has become an assisted living and memory care facility where the residents are paid instead of paying for said care.
71 isn’t that old these days especially considering the FREE PREMIUM healthcare the people in Congress receive.
As of 2024, the average life expectancy for men in the U.S. is 75.8 years, while for women it is 81.4 years. Maybe 75 or 78 should be a forced retirement date?
24 members of Congress are 80 or older. More than half are running for re-election.

As of the 119th Congress, 1 member is over 90 :Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), age 92
Dianne Feinstein was the oldest member of Congress to die in office, passing away at the age of 90 in September 2023.
My guess is a great many people on this site are over 70, I am one of them.
