Here is the game plan that the forces against Trump will be using for the foreseeable future.
They will attempt to get you to make the perfect the enemy of the good.
Be it the freedom clowns and spending, the immigration hawks with H1B visas, the peace doves with timing, the cultural warriors with total bans of DEI/CRT, the neocons with war fighting, or the swamp dwellers with draining the swamp.
All of them will attempt to get you to believe on whatever issue is the issue of the day that it doesn’t go far enough or do enough. They will try to make you think that some sub issue of that issue is more important and should be handled first, that since the issue hasn’t been handled yet it won’t be, that we can’t do more than one thing, that so and so is a plant to stop the draining of the swamp, or that because it wasn’t 100% Trump lied. On every single issue, one or more groups will attempt this strategy.
You can’t allow them that power over you. If Trump secures the border and deports 2 million, don’t allow them to reduce that good by them saying well he didn’t deport 2.5 million, so he failed or lied.
You can’t allow them to use the perfect to void out the good in the coming months.
They will try. They already have with the CR and the H1b visa debates. It works, that is why they use it. You have to keep it in the front of your head on everything about to occur that half a loaf or hopefully in most cases 7/8ths a loaf is better than no loaf.
Do not allow them to gaslight you into thinking the good is the enemy of the perfect.
In the real world, most things are never perfect, but if we try real hard, we can get plenty of good accomplished in the coming 4 years.

The purpose and goals of President Trump are plainly visible by his actions and consistent: He is for the benefit first of the common PEOPLE of this country, then of the PEOPLE in the rest of the world. It is validating, even to our battered conservative skepticism.
The methods of his leadership are amazing. I still don’t get HOW he does it, or HOW he is able to get so much momentum going, but every day the momentum is growing. Everyone and every organization has their eyes opened every day — just by watching him. Even those who hate him, are biased against him, and want to see him gone — cannot ignore him. He lives rent free in their head, and they come around to seeing the universal principles by which he is operating. He hammers actions based on truth from one direction, then another, and they cannot mount an organized opposition against him.
President Trump is transparent in his words and actions. He is consistent in what he says, what he does, and what he asks/demands of others. His promises are bold and he keeps them like no other president has. He continues to make massive, nearly overnight changes, not only in our country, but in the world. It is amazing that he is able to accomplish so much when there are so many snakes in the grass. This second term, he is weeding them out faster and choosing like-minded servants who multiply his effectiveness. No U.S. president has ever faced so much organized resistance and treason than President Trump
He has chosen to use his intellect and every skill he has to do what is right. He has tremendous faith that he can make a difference in this world. He has a confidence and courage such that he doesn’t care what others think, yet a humility to know he has to do it with the help of like minded people. Those people are the “common” people, and he ridicules those who think they are not common. He does not show humility before men, but his actions show humility before God.
He believes people are basically good. He believes that God is real. He believes that healthy people are happy people, and they need to be able to create wealth freely for their labor, and have the freedom to spend their money on what is good for them.
He believes the United States, with its Constitutional Republic, is the best environment in the world to enable and give opportunity for people to be happy and prosperous.
He believes that we can be a light for the world, but we must demand that the rest of the world respect us and our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
He believes the enemy of our country are the stupid, greedy American people who have been selfishly taking advantage of this country; who betrayed the trust and obedience of its people; and who diverted the people’s wealth for their own selfish gain, at the expense of the principles of this country. He’s not going to allow that anymore. He is not afraid to call out our enemies.
He has cultivated and focused the family of MAGA. Identifying those people whose goodness, industriousness, trust, and obedience have been taken advantage of and abused. He has opened our eyes to this abuse, and to the rights of freedom and self determination that have been quietly stolen from us.
He has rekindled the same healthy distrust held by our founders of government and men with too much power. He has recultivated the desire to reclaim our freedoms and rights, and is empowering us with a hope and pathway to reclaim our spiritual and economic freedom.
He wants the US to be a light of hope on the hill for all people. He will negotiate win/win agreements with those nations and countries who respect us; who respect the principles and intent of our Constitution. If you do not respect us, however, we are not going to let you take advantage of our goodness, or share in our wealth at our expense. If you as a nation are treating your people badly, you are going to be treated less favorably by us, until you show that you value your people as much as we value ours. He believes that nations who treat their people well will also be good economic neighbors with us.
He is convincing those who are very wealthy (most of whom truly earned their money), that the best economic soil in which to build wealth is in a constitutional republic, which supports the ability of the common man to earn wealth in proportion to his efforts. The economic engine of the United States is the human spirit freed to enjoy the fruits of honest labor, and that engine has more natural and raw horsepower than any other governed economy.
The Trump Train seems to be remarkably aligned with universal principles of Truth, which reflect the will and design of our Creator, and are the best standard by which we should live. These same principles were what our country’s founders used to declare independence, and framed into the Constitution of this nation.
Our founders believed that a nation should preserve the right and freedom of an individual to seek, understand, and live by God’s principles. They believed that free individuals working together in humility would make a stronger nation than a government which dictates its will on the people. President Trump professes and seeks to lead and restore this nation back to these same principles.
These principles resonate deeply within all human beings, down to our DNA in every cell, in our spirits, and produce fruit that “miraculously” multiplies. Because we follow universal principles, we see the snowballing acceleration of momentum. Lord please bring your power and might in the daily working of this sacred Nation you gave us.

I recall that President Trump had stated (during a campaign rally?) that taxes would be much better spent in private investment and charitable endeavors, many of which he has voluntarily funded over the years. And he is absolutely correct.

My understanding is that if Mitch doesn’t show up for the meeting then the next senior member would chair the committee.
In the chairman’s absence, the ranking majority member present at the meeting typically presides as the acting chair for that specific session.
That member presiding as acting chair would be John Boozman (R-AR).
The seniority order of the Republican members on the committee is as follows:
1) Mitch McConnell (KY) – Chair (Absent)
2) John Boozman (AR) – Most senior member present; would serve as Acting Chair
3) Deb Fischer (NE)
4) Roger Wicker (MS)
5) Shelley Moore Capito (WV)
6) Ted Cruz (TX)
7) Cindy Hyde-Smith (MS)
8) Bill Hagerty (TN)
9) Katie Britt (AL)
For Ted Cruz to chair the meeting, Boozman, Fischer, Wicker, Capito, and Hyde-Smith would all have to be absent.

Unless there is another R appointed to the committee as well then the committee will have equal number of R’s and D’s–8 on each side.
Will be interesting to see how votes go. Course, there have been zero votes so far in 2026 as there have been no business or full committee meetings even scheduled this year and only 3 in 2025.
As Sundance has said; ‘The Rules Committee is where nominations, legislation, bills etc go to die!’ I counted over 80 that have not been voted on in 2025, 2026.
The Vice Chair exception. “The Chairman of the Committee, or if the Chairman is not present the Vice Chairman, shall preside over all meetings.”
If Ted Cruz has been designated as the Vice Chair of the specific committee in question, he would preside immediately after the Chair, skipping over more senior members who are not Vice Chairs. This is a common leadership arrangement that supersedes simple seniority.
Cruz is another enemy within; beware snakes never truly change, but the can slither in many direction to keep hidden looking for ‘power.’

Yes. Governor Nikki Haley was quick to appoint then Rep. Tim Scott to replace the retiring Senator Jim DeMint.
Gov. McMaster could appoint Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette to fill Graham’s seat and have her in DC this week. She would serve until the midterms.
Not sure how the SC GOP will determine who gets to replace Graham in the midterm election.

Gov. McMaster endorsed Evette in her run for governor (AG Wilson won the runoff), and both McMaster and Evette endorsed Trump in 2024. In 2016, then Lt. Gov. McMaster was the first elected Republican to endorse Trump. He is not going to appoint a know anti-Trumper to that seat.
Well it is a better situation for the GOP than the one in Kentucky with McConnell.
Would Pamela Evette then run as the incumbent?
If she’s appointed, she might. She recently ran for governor (had President Trump and Gov. McMaster’s endorsements) but lost the runoff to AG Wilson (Rep Joe Wilson’s son). President Trump endorsed both for the runoff since both are Trump supporters.
Nancy Mace ran against Graham a few elections back. She just got stomped in her bid for governor. She may be looking for a return to DC.

There will also be a special election that must happen soon to replace him as the Republican nominee. Then the nominees duke it out in the general election. With the winner taking office on Jan 3.

The plane is pressurized so the altitude is not a factor. The biggest reason is that you are sitting in a small area and not moving much for a long period of time. Other health factors come into play as well. My longest flight was 16 hours. I made it a point when I got up to use the lavatory to walk around or stand for a while. A long wait line has its benefits.
Lying down doesn’t restrict blood flow to legs in the same way sitting does where you are bent at the waist and knees. Lying down can cause blood clots but takes it much longer or after having surgery. One reason they get you up right away after surgery these days.
A sitting position diminishes the flow of blood from the feet to the torso, slow flow of blood leaves time for clotting. Laying is level flow, no kinks at the hips where the major vessels go through.
Long sitting just isn’t good; kids get restless in school, there is a good reason for it. Recess is essential for all ages.
