President Trump hosts a dinner at the White House honoring Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and the close relationship between the USA and Japan.
At the beginning of the dinner, President Trump and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi delivered remarks. WATCH:
.

I am very much liking what I’m seeing from Prime Minister Takaichi. Unassuming, humble, deferential to the US President and I do believe she likes him. Standing next to him holding her purse is just so perfect. I’m not deceived by her outward appearance, pretty sure she’s got iron in her spine and a plan for Japan’s future.
So true, we may be witnessing the next “Iron Lady”.
Also, I like her wicked sense of humor!
Prime Minister Takaichi is confident and personable.
It is easy to see why she won her election bigly.
Yeah kind of like Meloni in that way.
She reminds me of Thatcher.
Trump is embarrassing.
Ouch! Nikkei down over 3% along with Asian indices. But Europe is up.🤔
Thank you, Sundance!
An observation.
The Japanese communicate in subtle, meaningful gestures. President Trump…and our gracious First Lady…know this.
No State Dinner reserved for great allies, which would be inappropriate and ill judged while our military are engaged and under fire in the Middle East.
Instead an intimate one between friends which PM Takaichi is fast proving to be…as was PM Abe before her and as I am certain she has recognized and appreciates.
My impression of her so far is that this relationship will be as formidable as the Reagan/Thatcher one in the 80’s.
Somehow this from the land (as was) of Baroness Thatcher seems appropriate for the diminutive Sanae Takaichi…
Agree on all points.
President Trump is a realist and not a denier of history.
This small video of remarks he has makes makes the subsequent illustration even more powerful.

Kintsugi (金継ぎ)
For the Japanese, kintsugi is part of a philosophy of embracing our human flaws and life’s fragility. It is about celebrating imperfections. It offers an approach to life. Kintsugi teaches us that in life we can turn adversity into something that is beautiful and resilient. Kintsugi shows us that in time, we can heal from our wounds, embrace our imperfections, and become stronger.
The practice is related to the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which calls for seeing beauty in the flawed or imperfect. The repair method was also born from the Japanese feeling of mottainai, which expresses regret when something is wasted, as well as mushin, the acceptance of change.
I very much appreciate your explanations of Japanese philosophies, Gulag.
They tie in with the beautiful bowl, made more lovely by the repair.
Thank you.
“Instead an intimate one between friends which PM Takaichi is fast proving to be…as was PM Abe before her and as I am certain she has recognized and appreciates.“
Most definitely. In fact, last fall PM Takaichi presented President Trump with Shinzo Abe’s golf putter with blessings from the family. President Trump was deeply moved by that.
I left a short video just above, John. It was quite moving. I doubt President Trump suspected a thing. A supreme honour I’m sure both surprised and gratified him.
“男が歌い、女が続く” – Japanese proverb.
“Japan is back!” Smart, funny, & stylish. Her pearl necklace, purse, & tailored suit spoke volumes. She’s feminine yet tough as nails, I bet. This is encouraging during a difficult time in dealing with Iran. The Iran can was kicked down the road for how many years? 47 was it? I digress. PM Takaichi is a formidable and important partner! Very impressive to say the least.
Under the polished exterior, she was a drummer in a Heavy Metal band, rode a motorcycle and still listens to Iron Maiden to relax.
God bless her for that.
I love her reaction in reviewing the wall of Presidents, when she gets to the Autopen President. 😂

I can’t understand Japanese, but just listening to the sound of her voice and delivery its clear she is quite at ease and is her own person, regardless of who is in the room.
Easy to see why she won in a historical landslide. She’s got swag!
“We discovered Japan, for Heaven’s sake!”
Hillary Clinton to Goldman Sachs
That was sooo good!
They are having meltdowns on X over her hugging Trump earlier in the day
The Japanese are all upset about the Pearl Harbor comment. Bless their souls but it wasn’t meant to be disrespectful but just the opposite, respect for their ability to operate with stealth when they deem it necessary.
Japanese media. FIFY. They are as left twisting as our media in the US.
The majority of genuine Japanese people with an opinion I’ve seen posting on X were not pleased the reporter (who usually covers China matters) brought up such a gotcha question in the first place.
Good point!
Sanae Takaichi has all the class that Europe has lost.
