Israel’s strike on the South Pars gas field was a very smart and calculated move.
About 94% of Iran’s natural gas is used for internal consumption. That means that the strike will directly impact Iran’s power plants, industries and military- all critical for its war effort.
However, as opposed to a potential strike on Iran’s oil facilities, taking Iran’s gas offline will have a far smaller impact on China and other Iranian energy customers.
