I agree. It is an impressive transformation. If the election was today I would fully support Rubio for President. He has the experience and leadership that comes with many miles and age. I don’t see that yet in JD.

So trying to force these 21st Century conditions into a 17th Century frame of reference is ridiculous. No, what is being created needs its own name. Interesting side note: One of the “additional duties” I held as an Assistant S-3 Operations Officer was Cavalry Squadron Chemical Officer. At the time … it was popular for soldiers to get a “medical profile” that allowed soldiers to NOT SHAVE.
I would imagine unshaven GI’s may even be more prevalent for even more “cultural” reasons.
It was always fun to conspire with the Squadron Command Sergeant Major to schedule a Protective “Gas” Mask session at the local “Gas Training Building” …. and use CS Candles in place of Camphor Candles.
Point being … even with just heavy facial stubble … a Protective Mask WILL NOT SEAL. Breathing CS Gas is not a pleasant experience.
A Mask that does not seal = Incapacitated Soldier or much worse
