Reading this story today made me wonder… given the billions involved, the multiple tentacles involved in the crime and the money laundering charges…
How much of an impact on our economy will there be by the sudden stop of trillions of dollars being laundered through “legitimate” businesses whose main purpose is not necessarily making profit, but to provide a means to launder money through the business.
There businesses that do this from restaurants on up to big businesses in probably every large town in America.
Given the sudden stop, it will have to have a huge impact.
I can’t help wonder if this story is an example of a major money laundering operation that suddenly the lost cash flow from drugs or trafficking or USAid or whatever.

Yeah, I have to sort of agree…in the sense that 1). If you sell your home for, say, $500,000, you have to have a place to live, and you are going to spend at least that much for a new home and get less land and less house
2). While I don’t know the property tax rates in all 50 States, homeowners end up paying sky-high property taxes on this inflated value.
3). How exactly does this help new home buyers if their interest rate is lower, but that amount saved is ate up in property taxes.
4). With the value of your home being inflated, your insurance rates go up; i.e., replacement costs..new roof is going to cost you big time.
The housing market is overpriced big time. This in no way makes homeowners (who have lived in their home for 30 years) wealthier.
There is a way for them to keep the value of their homes stable.
If salaries go up because there are jobs created by new factories, removal
Of H1B in tech and illegals getting removed, there will be inflation from increased salaries.
What will make the housing prices fall will be blackrock selling holdings, a glut of homes from MILLONS of illegals leaving the country because their taxpayer funded housing, welfare, medical and SS come to an end.
This will cause a temporary decline in the cost of homes because of the sudden massive increase in supply.
However, inflation will help buy down the debt and give young people relatively more money to purchase a home.
Yes… I’ve given a highly simplistic example, but the glut of excess housing will cause falling home prices due to the sudden excess supply. That will primarily hurt those who are retired on fixed incomes and plan to use the equity in their home to funds their old age planning.
I think that I’m seeing lots of empty properties that are bank owned without signage (to prevent break-ins by homeless) and kept well groomed so nobody realizes they’re empty. They’re using large property management companies to hide that the banks own so much. They have an agreement to keep the rent high or keep them empty. State attorney general is sueing 9 companies for this and it’s taking years. Meanwhile I keep hearing horror stories about homeless seniors and veterans right here. It seems to me that they could easily lower the rent if they can afford to keep them empty? Greedy global banks inhumane. Homelessness can kill.
PS I might be wrong but in this situation the only homes available that are fixer uppers aren’t worth getting into because they’re money pits. I think the banks let the money pits go for suckers that don’t know what they’re doing and keep all the good ones for themselves.
I must not understand what you are saying. Why would banks keep the good ones for themselves if they just intend to hold them empty? It’s very expensive to hold an empty house and it is very hard on a house.
Maybe those are second homes or homes not making good profits as airb&bs
What you say doesn’t make sense.
MANY Illegals and immigrants were receiving federally funded housing. Once the illegals/immigrants leave, they would simply replace the lost tenants with seniors and vets and others living in cars or with friends.
There would be no reason to leave them empty.

We don’t have free markets anymore.
They all made an agreement to keep units empty until they got their price and they’re doing it. There’s many foreign owners here and when they own properties they don’t follow our laws. They do insane things that destroy property and since our government made it easy for them to acquire it’s no biggie for them. Easy come easy go. Commercial property, residential property. They own giant apartment complexes and allow drug addicts to pack 30 druggies into a studio. When a place gets trashed they don’t fix it they just don’t rent it anymore. They don’t pay their employees for months and when they leave there’s always another sucker to take the job. They are predatory on female tenants and raise the rent too high so they can force her into sex acts. Even if she is married they will show up at all times of day to try to catch her alone and terrorize her into sex to keep the rent down. Nobody does a thing about it. None of it.
Even at my age they try to force me into sex with my husband just a few feet away. Absolutely disgusting. Good church going men is what people think of them. And yes they never miss a week going to church.
That is horrible! Insane!!
Interesting article. Free markets are not good for those who have the power to control markets!
Totally out of touch with John and Jane Doe Middle America, not to mention those of us who never grossed 100 grand per year. And no, Mr. President, the latter was not because we didn’t work “very hard.”
It is totally in touch with anyone who owns a home and has earned equity in it. That is A LOT of people nationwide.
If y’all were not so blinded by your hatred of all things Trump you could see that Trump is trying to find a way to make home ownership possible for everyone without wiping out the equity of millions of hardworking current home owners. There are ways to do that.
As it stood with Biden, Blackrock was making the homes unaffordable by snapping up supply. Not to mention importing tens of mills of foreigners You would own nothing and be unhappy.
But now you stamp your feet and demand that you deserve a home …. if everyone else has to lose their equity to make it happen, you are good with that. Right? That’s what it sounds like to me
It’s not either or.
IDK how many of those people are left. In my neighborhood there were homes that snowbirds owned but it’s their season to be here and they aren’t and the homes are empty. The house across the street from me is for Columbians only and it’s been empty for a couple of years now. The condos down the street used to have some snowbird owners and there was chain link section for them to keep their RVs but they are all gone now, chain link has been removed and it’s just an empty lot now. Lots of sketchy people live there now. I take the dog to walk in there to avoid traffic. Many empty units but only one for rent. Asking price is too high. They’ve had a sign out for a month or more so now I’m thinking that it’s some kind of marketing test. This is supposed to be a desirable area but the grade school will be closing due to not enough kids – this neighborhood always had LOTS of kids. It’s still ideal for kids so why aren’t they here?Trying to figure out what is going on. Massive numbers of empties that I can’t even find sales or rental information for.
I was offended by that remark as well. Not only that but there’s many ways to go to prison on a lower income position. You don’t have to do anything wrong. They just frame and blame for what someone else did. There’s attorneys who will take the case because they have already been paid by the employer to make you lose and you dumbly pay for it and go to prison anyway. Same with when you are physically harmed because your employer was too cheap to follow the law. Seen it.
Just trying to say that the lower wage job still has too much stress and BS going on.

No wine but they have apple cider vinegar.
The interesting thing about the Somalis is that don’t seem to worry even a little bit about getting caught in these money laundering ventures. They just make sh$t up. They get an address, website and a bank acct and viola! they are in business! No employees, no inventory, it’s all on paper.
If there was any reasonable oversight they would NEVER get away with it.

Oh Canada!…
Well, if people aren’t showing up to work, is it gee just possible they’re here illegally?
Without illegals they don’t have as much work at the hospitals. So less jobs available. Another rice bowl busted.
Virginia Code § 24.2-233 states acceptable reasons for recall when it has “material adverse effect upon the conduct of the office” include:
Neglect of duty
Misuse of office
Incompetence in the performance
Other acceptable reasons include:
Conviction of a misdemeanor relating to drugs
Conviction of a misdemeanor involving a hate crime
The petition for recall must be signed by at least 10% of the number of people who voted in the last election for the office being recalled.
Who are we going for? Can’t be Abigail. Lying isn’t an acceptable reason. Can you be incompetent with less than a month in office?

At least three foreign agents from hostile regimes have met with both Walz and Frey on multiple occasions. Multiple. Not accidental. Not incidental. Not a one-off handshake at a conference. Multiple meetings. (From substack article linked in twitter post)
“My GPS investigations. (my partners and I have access to the IP address of every cellphone on the planet.)
Real foreign bad actors, physically present, meeting in person, repeatedly, with the governor of Minnesota and the mayor of its largest city.“
Not even remotely “organic”.
With a rough estimate for the supplies alone (signs/sticks/vests/u-haul/delivery crew compensation) you’re looking at about $2500. Add in a rent-a-crowd for a couple hours and you’re dropping about $10K for a single-point, two hour protest.
While the cost may seem small, I want you to think about how you would make it all happen.
Could you do it?
Have you planned a similar type event or even a 5K road race?
How much effort did it take?
Did you have help?
A staff?
Planning meetings?
A budget review?
This is not something that “simply happened” because a couple of people got together at Mary’s house last Friday night.
Roughly 100 people are at a physical spot in the city, at a specific time, and a specific place, and the signs showed up like clockwork…and it happened relatively seamlessly.
