NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte delivered a direct reminder to the EU in Brussels. Brushing aside criticism after Donald Trump published private messages between them and telling EU lawmakers, he did not mind the disclosure. Speaking directly to the EU nations at the European Parliament, Secretary Rutte defended Trump’s NATO record, warned Europe cannot defend itself alone, and rejected claims linking Greenland talks to Ukraine.

NATO bombed Yugoslavia during the Kosovo war. Beginning in 2003, NATO led the ISAF as part of the war in Afghanistan, and it was a NATO-led “coalition” that intervened in Libya in 2011. Yes, we are by far the largest component of NATO, but it was NATO the organization doing those things. NATO should be liquidated.

As I recall the Europeans began the attacks against Libya. (Europe wanted to take the oil supplies.) But in less than a week the Europeans quickly ran out of munitions and fuel. The Libyans were still holding out. So the US had to rush to join in so the Europeans would not be totally humiliated. After that the US provided all the fuel, replenished munitions for the Europeans and the US ended up flying most of the combat strikes.
In the Balkans, the Europeans were providing troops to monitor the very shaky ceasefires after the former Yugoslavia broke up. There was a huge massacre in Srebrenica, Bosnia where Serbians killed thousands of Bosniak Muslims (aka “Ethnic Cleansing.”) The Dutch peacekeepers stood by and watched but did not intervene. That led to the escalation of US involvement, particularly against the Christian Orthodox Serbs.

NATO was invented after WWII to combat Soviet communist aggression. The Soviet Union has not existed for almost 40 years. The entity that was putting missiles in Cuba, installing communists in Nicaragua, invading Angola, fighting us in Vietnam and Korea is no longer in existence. Russia, as bad as it is, is not the USSR. Its Navy is nothing. Its single aircraft carrier was totaled in dry dock when a crane collapsed during service. It cannot project force around the world as the USSR did. Putin has now spent 3 years on an invasion of Ukraine that has captured territory the size of Pennsylvania. He has lost tens of thousands of tanks and they are pulling antiques from the museums to replace the ones lost in battle.
Russia is a threat to Europe, and Europe should deal with it.
NATO should be over, or relegated to a cultural exchange society.
Ukraine is also the E.U. outhouse. Ukraine was sacrificed as a tool to weaken Russia sufficiently so as that the U.S. with NATO assistance could finally break Russia’s spine and then pilfer the vast natural resources.
Ukraine is by its ethnic makeup and language largely Russian. The pre-CIA (OSS) began infiltrating and developing terrorist networks within Ukraine with the full intentions of weoponizing Ukraine against the then Soviet Union. Eventually the entire country became under the control of these wicked forces developed over decades via an American sponsored regime change operation in 2014.

I’ve seen videos (which I can’t find via google) where they’ve pointed out that Canada is moving off Defense items onto the Defense line of the budget to meet their 5% pledge. This would include things like Border Services Officers (BSOs) of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) which have never been included in Canada’s Defense Budget. It falls under the Minister of Public Safety (part of the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness portfolio).
There will be little actual increase in their Defense Budget. Bet on it.

Well, if the EU cannot defend itself, then why are they allowed to have such generous welfare/social policies. Either the US funds their defense so that they can fund free medical care and the dole or they need to spend less on social programs and more on self defense.
