According to most forecasters and the National Weather Service, a significant weather event begins tonight and will likely bring extreme snow and ice to much of the U.S. mainland.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE -…Major winter storm to begin impacting the Central and Southern Plains today, before moving into the Mid-South, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast this weekend… ♦Catastrophic ice accumulations are expected from the Southern Plains to the Southeast/Mid-Atlantic… ♦Dangerously cold temperatures set to expand across much of the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. through early next week.
A significant winter storm is forecast to begin in the Southern Rockies and Central/Southern Plains today, progressing eastward through the Mid-South and into the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast through Monday. This is expected to produce large swaths of heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain, bringing hazardous driving conditions, power outages, and tree damage. The heaviest snowfall is expected across a large area, including parts of the Southern Rockies, Plains, and through the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Snowfall totals are expected to exceed one foot in parts of these areas, and widespread travel disruptions are likely.
South of the snow axis, widespread freezing rain and sleet are expected, affecting the Southern Plains, Lower Mississippi Valley, Tennessee Valley, and much of the Mid-Atlantic. Catastrophic impacts are expected where freezing rain totals exceed half an inch, with over an inch expected in parts of Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and the Southern Appalachians.
After the passing of the winter storm, a strong arctic air mass originated from Canada will continue to bring frigid temperatures into the eastern
two-thirds of the U.S. into early next week. Sub-zero low temperatures will spread from through these regions, and will be accompanied by gusty winds, bringing dangerously low wind chills. The coldest wind chills may fall below -50F across the Northern Plains, and numerous other record lows are expected.
These wind chills will pose a life-threatening risk of hypothermia and frostbite to exposed skin, and risks could be prolonged and exacerbated by power outages caused by the aforementioned winter storm. Cold temperatures are then expected to continue across much of the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. into early February according to a Key Message from the Climate Prediction Center. [SOURCE]
Take this storm seriously, folks.
Moderate to major impacts are expected from the Central US through to the Northeast today through the weekend.
– Hazardous to impossible driving conditions are expected. Avoid travel if at all possible.

Meteorologists this week!
https://x.com/i/status/2014874153711472776
It’s a tough time of year to be one. This storm system has been confounding their mathematical models for many days now. They know that it’s coming, but continue to dance around exactly what it will do and where. For instance, one model said to expect 70ºF temperatures(!) in southern Georgia, with a warm-air mass sitting on top of a cold-air mass and effectively “damming” it in place.
I presume that you also use weather.gov. Well, click on the “Forecast Discussion” tab, which is where the forecasters talk among themselves. These pages are longer and more detailed than I have seen in quite some time. (They use “jargon” and acronyms that, for the most part, are made into glossary hyperlinks on the page. Very helpful.)
Any weather Apps no matter who’s changes many time during the day because meteorology has been corrupted long ago and most good weather predictors no longer matter.
NASA and NOAA ( caught red handed) changing climate data to feed the fraudulent climate models to further their agenda.
Rush revealed this many years ago and why no actual forecast is very accurate at all.
I recommend not trusting any weather data I find online. 🙂
I just look out my window, and find this method is pretty accurate at determining what the weather for the day will be.
Joe Bastardi’s WeatherBELL Analytics site. Top notch.
Joe is one of the best and more accurate then all put together especially when the Spaghetti models of hurricanes comes out.
The Spaghetti models should open people’s eyes to how unaccurate meteorologists and weather people are.
Morning, rah.
The front is just barely finished “knocking at the door” here. (Northeastern U.S..)
~4 hours ago, Wind Chill: -33°F.
Since then, sustained -30°F.
(woooeee!)
😳🙏🏻
Blimey, this ‘global warming’ is a bit weird!
Seriously, stay safe everyone, we’ve had some nasty experiences with Mr Ice here, especially as many of the roads are bordered by 12ft deep, water-filled, ditches.
Prayers to all, especially the emergency power line repair crews.
Just breath harder and produce more CO2 and it will be alright! “Scientists say” that the magic molecule can do anything and everything. It can make it hot or make it freeze. It can make it dry and cause droughts or it can make it very wet and cause floods. It can make it rain or snow or ice or it can make it so you can fry an egg on over your asphalt driveway.
Bingo. Weather po-n! Stay safe
Wow! 12 foot deep ditches filled with water does sound more than a little dangerous!
Take extra care, Constant Peg and crew!
Yup, talked to a fireman recently, they only found a woman who’d come off into one of these at night, because the ditch was being drained and they saw the light of her mobile phone shining through the back windscreen (she had gone in nose first, not rolled as is usual). Still took them 45 minutes driving up and down the road, listening to the frantic woman who was trapped.
If the ditch had been full, and she’d gone in sideways or rolled it would have been a very different story. What makes it doubly treacherous is that we have some of the worst quality roads around here (quite literally crumbling) or they sag and droop, causing temporary loss of control (last week I watched a tractor bounce into the other lane).
Still the billions we’ve spent on Ukraine, illegal migrants and destroying local farmland for ‘Green’ projects is well worth it! Spit! So jealous of you Treepers, who’ve got a leader fighting for you, not against. It’s why I get particularly annoyed with whiny posters, at least something is being done to make your lives better, all we have is Trump’s ball squeezing to alleviate matters (Chagos deal and removal of juries now suspended). As I said to my wife last year, do you think Vance really came here for a holiday?
Where the heck are you?
That’s why they started calling it climate change. Now they can encompass anything from extreme heat to extreme cold. 🙄
Prayers go out to all who are affected. Be safe!
God sends winter for a reason; every season has a reason by his design. Enjoy it.

If FEMA is activated liberals, remember to make sure those, ‘I voted for Kamala’ signs are hidden away, (sarc).
I knew Pierre Carney would punish you Yankees for upsetting him – keep warm folks.
The last time all 50 states had measurable snow cover simultaneously was Feb 11th, 2010.
Weather patterns are looking more and more like it could happen again before this winter’s end.
I can hear it now. What about Hawaii?
The summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa get pretty frequent snows most winters.
I think Florida will escape the snow this time..
But does Hawaii get snow?
Yep, Florida is likely to be missed this time but that may not be the case a week or so from now. At this time indications are there will be another storm coming the weekend of the 30th.
People ski in Hawaii. The high summits on the Big Island get snow.
You left out the sarcasm symbol
PRICELESS! I LOVE IT!
Brave AI, on frostbite:
Frostbite progresses through three main stages, each indicating increasing severity of tissue damage:
Frostnip (Stage 1): The mildest form, affecting only the outer layer of skin. Symptoms include redness, numbness, tingling, and a prickly sensation. The skin may appear pale or white but is not permanently damaged if treated promptly. Rewarming in warm (not hot) water for 15–30 minutes is effective.
Superficial Frostbite (Stage 2): Deeper layers of skin are affected. The skin turns white, grayish-yellow, or waxy and feels hard. After rewarming, painful blisters filled with clear or cloudy fluid typically form within 12–36 hours. The area may swell and feel warm, but underlying tissue damage is occurring. Medical attention is required to prevent further injury.
Deep Frostbite (Stage 3): The most severe stage, involving all layers of skin and underlying tissues such as muscles, tendons, and bones. The skin appears blue-gray, black, or mummified, and the area feels numb and hard with no sensation. Large, blood-filled blisters form after rewarming, and a blackened crust (eschar) develops. Permanent tissue death (necrosis) and long-term complications like chronic pain, numbness, and loss of function are common. Immediate emergency medical care is critical, often requiring surgery, amputation, or specialized treatments like tPA to improve blood flow.
tPA is a ‘clot buster’…
How many of us have experienced “Frostnip”?
We called it chillblains when I was a kid in the UK. The boarding school nurse had to have a lot of little feet soaking after we’d finished our hikes across the South Downs in the damnable cold!
One has to be totally “stupid and or, ignorant”, one and the same, to look at, or listen to “weather forecasters” run by the same “people” that say that “global warming/climate change” exist as a natural reality without taking into hand the amount of “Patents” that have been acquired by those that have developed means of “Weather Engineering”, HAARP, Chemtrails, etc, not to mention the amount of engineered destruction of towns that have suddenly burnt up and been acquired by real estate developers and on and on.
When are there gonna be conversations by Adults in the room about this rather that accept it as normal parlance, hmm
A year or two ago there was a weather event going on, it was yet another widespread tornado outbreak.
Looking for Ryan Hall Yall Live, who hadn’t started his broadcast, I came across this Max Velocity guy.
The people in the chat started talking about weather warfare, the commentary was calm, educated, and factual.
When Max read the chat he lost his mind and said there was no such thing as weather manipulation and anyone who thought there was such a thing was ignorant and a conspiracy theorist.
He went on a crazy rant and as the pitch of his voice got higher in octave the redder went his face.
I thought he was going to stroke out right there live on yt.
He’s a disappointment that one, being a weatherman and all, you’d think he’d know better.
0.o
Weatherman Plus on YT talked with his viewers about 13 months ago or so toward the END of one of his excellent weather forecast videos about the fact that Weather Manipulation DOES exist and all forecasters are under strict instructions NOT to acknowledge that fact.
That’s Mark Gremillion, my personal go-to weather guy. He primarily uses the data from oscillation patterns to predict forecasts that are more accurate than the models that are only used to show how there are many different opinions out there. EURO, GFS, CANADIAN, are a few examples. He does not hype to get clicks and he tells the truth. He can back up all his earlier forecasts because they’re all on YouTube for those who like to differ. Plus, he is a born-again Christian that will always conclude his broadcast with a verse from the Holy Scriptures.
We’ve got a local guy, Bobby Martrich from EPAW (Eastern PA weather) who does a fine job with none of the hype of the regular weather forecasters. He and his team are the best I’ve seen in my 69 years of watching the clouds around here.
For national real weather situations, Ryan Hall Y’all is my goto as well.
I like Ryan more than Max, They may have separated ways, 2 separate you tube presentations for each now…..Ryan is a much better commentator …. less geeky maybe?
Ryan had 15K viewers on his location app posting commits last evening….Cool
And the sheeple go out and clear the shelves of………water.
Ice accumulation that can snap power lines and freeze water sources.
it’s a hedge against frozen pipes.🥴
If you have a well and no electricity, you have no water.
I remember this from childhood in coastal NC.
You all stay safe! I am gratefully out of the storm, but I have lived for 50 years of my 81 years in New York State and rural NC so I have many ‘cold’ memories.
Please know that I will be lifting you all up to the Lord in prayer for protection from this storm. HE loves you all! In JESUS’ MIGHTY NAME……AMEN!
As a Canadian we have our share but respect to those who are blessed to survive and thrive in the northern realms.
Kids are full time missionaries at Queens college. So proud of this Texas couple. They love it there. The only problem is my five adorable grands are 1700 miles away. I amen your prayer and also ask for revival in this great land of ours & justice for the evil swamp (blob).
Up here in Alaska, we have a special name for this…
Winter.
Hahahahaha!!! SO TRUE!!!
Been there. Never, ever going anywhere near forty below again.
Done winter in Alaska and summers in Houston. Virginia is Heavenly weather.
I though you were going to say Spring!
We’re all very impressed. Thanks for stopping by.
And can you imagine if those “out of country” folk had to deal with the absence of sunlight for 3 months combined with Old Man Winter?
The Left might go into hibernation and never come out…..Oh Please God make it happen!
In MN it’s not even a special name. We don’t even capitalize it.
Third to fourth week of January practically every year! Plug in your car!
I have lived in Alaska and other states receiving plenty of snow…BUT…
those of you who have never experienced freezing rain have no idea how dangerous and destructive such an event can be and how long-lasting and paralyzing it becomes. Trees snap off by the thousands. Power lines are destroyed. You cannot stay on your feet outside, even while holding onto a car door. Driving is impossible. You can’t even OPEN car doors when a vehicle is covered in a sheet of ice. Freezing rain becomes a thick sheet of ice the moment it touches metal of any kind.
NOBODY IS COMING TO HELP. THEY CANNOT GET TO YOU.
I like your last sentence. Ultimately, we will all stand before God to account for ourselves. No one is coming to help, but Jesus is always at our side, and God will help if we ask.
That’s cheerful. But I would rather have three feet of snow than an inch of freezing rain.
Driving in snow is treacherous. Driving on ice is insane.
Saw this in TN in the late 90’s. Amazing for those of us who don’t mind snow!
Winter, 2009, Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
1/2 inch of clear ice, followed by 3 inches of pelletized ice collected on everything.
As you noted, thousand of tree limbs fell. We were out of power for five days, and we were in the city.
The sounds of limbs cracking and falling under the weight of ice, were the only sounds. It sounded like an old western with the crack of guns. All traffic was stopped, no HVAC sounds. Almost serenely quiet.
Outlying folks were out of power for 3 to 5 weeks before the power lines could be repaired.
Lots of people decided to install whole house propane generators after that storm.
This storm has been only 1.5 inches of powdery fine snow. No ice, but darn cold at 5 degrees on my back patio.
Stay warm, stay out of the wind. Get the crock pot going and stoke your fires.
3 degrees here in Texas. Us homeless are mostly surviving but very cold.
Pammipoo: Are you currently HOMELESS?
The 8 days of Feb 2021 in Dallas area FREEZING inside my house (no heat for days) gives me some idea of what you are SUFFERING.
i watched a newscast yesterday and it looks like warming SHELTERS are available to the HOMELESS in Dallas County and elsewhere.
That horrible Feb 2021 experience is what caused me to move to South Florida a few months later.
When I try to imagine what that actually means. Being at home for days with under 30 degree temps.
I hear you about Florida…we are in Atlanta just about where there is a thin line between moderate & major life disruption.
What did you do while you were in your house with no power? Did you have lots of clothes on with blankets?
Did you have to eat canned food. What about your fridge? it didn’t have power, but the contents? did they stay cold b/c of the temp inside your house?
SilverSunday: My 2 refrigerators and 3 freezers had enough insulation to continue to hold the cold for all those days.
I have frozen, cooked meats (I’m mainly a carnivore) and ate those — defrosted on my front sunny porch.
Yes, lots of layers and blankets … and I sat on my sunny porch for a lot of the day. Although it was cold out there, the SUN warmed me beyond staying inside my house.
I grew up in So Cal so none of this experience was native to me.
I could have had a generator, but never really needed one til then.
I spent 29 years in Dallas County and NEVER experienced what Feb 2021 was.
I live in my car so yes, I have no home. My health is bad and I cannot hold a job for long. I survive on my VA disability but I have never had to beg for money. Pride, ya know. 🙂
Pmmipoo – so are you planning on going to a warming shelter?
So, you are a Veteran on disability?….this scenario ‘ain’t right’….!
May God Bless you and Thank You for your service!
Please find some sort of shelter where you can be warm. This is not a time to be concerned with ‘pride’. This is a catastrophic weather event.
Churches…Salvation Army…Local warming centers…find somewhere safe and warm! Can the local fire departments direct you somewhere? Homeless shelters can direct you?
Dear God, please keep this Treeper safe and in your care!
Amen to that Aggiegirl.
Sorry folks. I am not in a very populated area. Rural doesn’t quite cover it. When I get more money, I will buy gas and move more to the south and west. I avoid shelters because of safety. Some of the homeless are…unsafe. One went off his rocker last year and murdered another man. Most churches are overnight shelter only.
My water and canned foods froze overnight. I put some in my sleeping bag with me to thaw out so I can eat. Two more days of this to go!
Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. I appreciate them.
It’s good to see that you have a very reliable internet/cell phone service.
My (prepaid) cell phone is what keeps me sane! 😀
I filled the wood box last night. I have -5 with a 15 mph wind in central NH. House is 68 with just a Mama Bear(Fisher wood stove).
There is no “Bad” weather, just “Bad” clothes. 18″ of snow predicted here. That will insulate my house further.
I lived through the Blizzard of 1978 so I guess I will make it through this.
Wacky Weather Hysteria has become a big dollar grift. Don’t give in to the manufactured alarmism.
Use common sense. Stay indoors if possible. Bundle up, dress in layers and cover exposed skin if you go out. Help your neighbors. And warm yourself by thinking about summer, when the “climate” will “change” once again.
So did I here the state was shutdown due to the snow…but we survived it.
I remember that one! We were in Boston at the time. I remember people going down Massachusetts Avenue on skis. The news was full of dire warnings banning people from driving into the city. If they dared, they would be put in jail for a year.
Now the weather people freak when a cloud cover moves in.
I don’t want to think about summer…..better to enjoy what’s enjoyable about winter…. because the more you try to enjoy it the quicker it goes by.
I have a large vinyl collection and listen to music seasonally. The more “winter” albums I acquire, the less winter days I have to listen to them all!
In 78 ranchers lost herds of cattle. Today they are using different strategies, with hay bale windbreaks, herding to wooded areas, high fiber products to give the cattle internal heat, bedding to stay off ground, bringing in newborns.
If you are interested in wildlife, windbreaks are good. Birds are at highest risk as they burn through their fat reserves to stay warm overnight and can starve in 48 hours. Heated bird baths are helpful. Even putting out warm a bowl of warm water is helpful.
Northern Minnesota here. -30 F this morning. Very little wind. This is nothing new for us. We always seem to get a week , or 2 of sub zero day time temps in the winter. My 20 some years of living up here the coldest i’ve seen was -44, My block heater was plugged in on my truck that day and I went to work.
Number of years ago, 2005 perhaps, I remember my mothers home, Las Cruces, New Mexico, experienced sub zero weather. All of the cactus bordering her property died. It was a smelly , rotten mess that had to be dealt with when it warmed up.
This is a reminder for everyone to think about how you will heat your home if the power goes out, or at least have a plan. I have a back up generator large enough to power the bare minimum of the house. Use an heavy gauge extension cord to run from my generator to breaker panel for emergency heat and well pump. Filled propane tank before the cold came.
Be safe everyone.
n.w iowa -6 this morning.years ago i wanted a standby gen but didn’t feel i would use it enough.house is all electric.wife still smokes on occasion and all my cars fit in my shed so we converted the garage to her she shed so to speak so i added a propane furnace into the 3 car attached garage that is plugged into a 110 outlet,if i lose power i wheel my 5k portable gen outside run a cord to the furnace and fire it up then open the door between house and garage.nothing fancy but it works in a pinch.
my parents retired to Las Cruces, and lived there for many years
my Mom, ever the handi-crafter, knitted “cactus-covers” for the cactus in her garden, to protect them from frost
they worked, too
Wisconsin here. Rural. We are used to cold. Using round bales for food and windbreak for the cattle and horses. Horses come into the stalls at night – sheltered from wind. The hard part is getting water to them. Spent a fortune a few years ago to run pipes for heated waterers. That makes life much better. Worked a whole year to pay for triple insulation on the house, and boy was that worth it. Made one last run to the grocery store before the super cold came and stocked up perishables. We stock up everything else in the fall. Boring and simple but survivable. Wish you were closer Pammipoo – I could offer you a place to park inside.
I lived in my car for quite a while. It’s pretty much an occupational hazard for pilots who get moved around all the time and cannot afford an apartment near their base airport. New York was tough. I was forever looking for a place to plug in an electrical cord — then I could run the heater and other stuff. Some Walmart lots let me do that. I lucked out with rest areas in some locations. Or truck stops. 2 or 3 hours in a locked handicapped bathroom was enough to wash up decently, spread a bedroll on the floor and get a little sleep. God Bless you and all the Treepers.

Many chemtrails in the sky this morning in PA…time for this destructive practice to stop.
Same in SW Florida … daily including today.
Wasn’t DeSantis going to stop that?
See my other comments on these two pages. I address that.
Every day and every other day in my IL ‘hood…we have had many cloudy days where they are not visible but one early morning, while out with the dogs, the cloud cover was high and those trails were visible at zero dark thirty.
It seems they do it more now when people cannot see them. If one pays attention, at sunrise, the clouds/trails, as they dissipate, you can tell the difference between a normal cloud and the trail.
I personally experienced the ice storm of January 2009.
Out of 120 KY counties, 90 were under disaster declarations. Power lines came down. Power poles snapped. The fracturing of trees was one of the eeriest sounds you will ever hear and then a second later the crashing of the ice covered tree canopy hits the ground. It sounds like tons of shattering glass. What follows is pure silence.
I was out of power 8-days, many people several weeks.
This is serious.
This time frigid temperatures will follow.
You need:
Water
Stable food
Cash
Gasoline
Gas cans
Keep the kids indoors.
If they get hurt sledding, etc you can’t get them to ER.
I pray for safety to all.
Best advice here is anyone (kids) get hurt you can’t get to an ER!!!!
We experienced that same 2009 ice storm in Arkansas. Challenging and memorable.
I remember that, was living in Kentucky. People with Amish neighbors were so grateful for Amish help
Greenland has moved into the USA. Cool!
Hey, it is -27F here in central Minny and just about to head out to cook breakfast for my son’s weeding crew! Good training!
Hoodie weather… with gloves and a hat. Criminal paid activists are nowhere to be found. Glorious.
Have a wonderful day!! Both vehicles started so…
Their Soros bucks have been frozen!
God will be our comforter in this great winter storm about to hit. Blessed are you lord our god, king of the universe for you have done all things well, and thank you that you have mercifully restored my soul within me, great is your faithfulness.

The cold has arrived here in CT waiting for the storm to hit tomorrow morning
but did all the necessary things that need power like laundry and charged everything
although they don;t think power outages will be widespread. Bought my dog some
toddler socks it one thing to either walk in the artic cold or the snow but both she
hate wearing her jacket which we rarely make her wear but today thru at least
Monday it will be jacket and socks..
-18 here on the farm this AM. Gonna warm up to -6. Heat wave.
Those extra 12 degrees are a help during a frigid cold day. : )
p.s. What happens when the water, within a cup of water, is tossed into the frigid air?
Does it meet the ground as water, or ice crystals? : )
If you spit on the ground and it freezes before it hits the ground and bounces back then it’s really really cold.
When we were kids this was your typical January. Why all the hype?
I agree. The problem with winter weather around here (northwest Georgia) is that no one knows how to drive in it. We are expected to get rain and freezing rain, with single-digit temperatures on some days which will freeze the roads solid. But they now say that we are unlikely to see (much) snow from it, and the predictions of daytime highs are generally just above freezing. (Which actually makes the road-ice worse.) Nonetheless, we’re going to see a lot of traffic accidents. It’s a wonderful time to prepare warm soup . . .
Here in Buford, we are more concerned about the ice causing power failure, which is what we are prepping for.
Big shout out to the busy solar geoengineers who have been spraying aluminum oxide in the lower atmosphere and sulfer dioxide in the upper stratosphere, looks like its working.
We somehow were able to survive the end of Net Neutrality.
I think we’ll all survive a bit of snow this weekend.
-25 deg F this morning in central WI and has not gotten above 0 deg F for the past few days, won’t today either. Our friends to the north are happy to share!
Retired Magistrate here: Here in Delaware County, Ohio this morning it is 5 degrees. It has been very cold for the last week or so but nothing that unusual for January.
We are expected to get anywhere between 6″ to 13″ of snow which at the higher end would be a lot for this area. Thankfully due to the artic cold it should be light and fluffy snow. We have an older ranch home with old windows; some are insulated and others have storm windows. Where there are drafts, I use painters tape to seal out the drafts; its cheap and it works.
We have an old wood burner in the back of the house which can keep about 3/4 of the house at 55 degrees or a little higher. So, we brought wood in along with various forms of kindling. Tonight I will fill up the bathtub with water because we have a well; no electricity, no well and no water. I can heat soup up and other food items on the top of the wood burner if necessary. We do have numerous trees on our 2 acres; however, we keep them trimmed and with light and fluffy snow it should be OK.
Our driveway is steep and winding and you don’t want to go off the ledge or you literally go through the woods and end up in a overflow pond from the river. We have a snow blower which will allow us to clear most of the driveway once the snow is done. Thankfully, it is snow and not ice. In 2009 we had a severe ice storm which left us without power for about 6 days. Both of us were very ill at the time but we were still able to keep the wood burner going. Of course we were younger then; we are now 78, and my husband 76 with health issues. But, we will get through this.
Everyone in the storms path, stay warm and safe.
Stay safe and warm Marcia! Praying for the best for everyone in the storms path !

I can never see a headline or article like this and not immediately think of Helene.
Every time we get an ice storm, it doesn’t matter how intense the weathermen get with their warnings, there will be fools a-plenty in all the roadside ditches. I’m not saying that I wish it on them, but it does look like natural selection in action.

That’s the kind version.
Yes it’s going to be a serious natural event as there are every year in Winter … no doubt … but it never ceases to amaze the disaster tropes spewed by the media before, during and after … instead of simple warnings a few bits of advice on precautions to follow.
The media need to spread panic and the “message” that these events are just sooo rare and unique in the face of obvious global warning. Then spread additional side BS to smear unpopular politicians (especially Republicans) that they have NOT prepared services to survive events those politicians cannot control.
Oh my … it’s going to be “the Winter event of the century” … gee just like other the “Winter events of the century” for the past 50+ years during the era of Global Warming.
The Washington Post has a headline of “Why the Power May Not Go Out Until After the Storm Passes.”
Which is eerily reminiscent of the “Why Trump May Appear to Have Won the Election When the First Results Come In.”
After Helene, Suspicious Cat is my family pet and my constant companion.
At least in and after a hurricane, if you didn’t drown you won’t freeze to death.
Taken in this light, the Chris Wright announcement about using the data center generators under DOE emergency orders is veeeerrry interdasting.
It also just so happens there is a major sewage spill into the Potomac River.
Pure coincidence, of course.
And, for those who haven’t really thought about it, during his first term POTUS signed an order requiring nuclear power plants to have an emergency stock pile of coal and coal generation capabilities on site (this too caught blowback from the WEF crowd, imagine that)
Most nuclear power plants in the US are reliant on the power grid for cooling. In a cyberattack that would take out the grid, absent an emergency backup power source, one of the biggest concerns would be nuclear energy plant meltdowns. Most of the population of the East Coast is downwind of those plants.
I get the sense that DHS and DOE are now on top of those threats, which were left unprotected against in past decades – deliberately so, in my opinion.
Central US: MISO is scrambling to stay on top of it. Latest advisory which includes
Lower energy use to a minimum using conservative measures.

AL GORE – WHERE ARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On “his” internet.
And don’t tell me this storm caused all the car crashes we will hear about. If you drive slower and leave more space between yourself and other cars it is doable.
Driving too fast for conditions is not a storms fault. Do you know how many times I have been driving down nasty winter affected highways to see someone flying ahead and then down the road, there they are, in the ditch?
Or……just stay home and couple of days.

Is the average person aware of the grand solar minimum of 2020-2053 and its role in global cooling?
It’s a timely topic for discussion, especially with regard to anthropogenic climate change.
The average person is not aware that plants convert CO2 to Oxygen –they have a long way to go to get to that level.

While we all hate what the Democrats have done to our beautiful California, they can’t mess with the only reason to live here. High temps in Coastal So. California: Sat/64; Sun/68; Mon/72. Everyone stay safe.
Bill Gates sure wants to try though–
Gates wants to inject sun blocking particles in the atmosphere to cool the earth. Sure needed this week in the US. What a warped ego!!
As usual, NOAA predicts disastrous weather for 2/3 of the country. I think you people in Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland and DC should be sure to drip the faucets for two or three days. The prediction that there will be massive power outages should be concerning, because our Government decides when to blackout an area due to possible ice storm damage to power lines. This smells more like the catastrophic hurricane predictions we had back in the Fall.
I finish by saying that normal precautions should be taken for your own water lines and faucets. I like to open the cupboard doors under the sinks where the water lines are sometimes found on exterior walls, I also like to run a small stream of water at my faucet farthest from where my outside water line comes in. If you suspect the Government is messing with the power grid because it costs them less money to shut it down than properly protecting the outside power lines by burying them, you are probably correct. The experiences of the unfortunate 70 million Americans NOT living in the high danger area should be seen as an example of what might really happen.
If you have an electric heater try setting up a generator that runs independently of your electrical service. Or, if you have a fireplace be prepared to use it if you need to. A decent supply of candles and flashlights could also help, no?
I hope our experience comes close to last Fall, when no hurricanes even reached landfall anywhere in our country. That way, none of us will have to rely on the Government’s FEMA program for help.
God knows that DC area has been dripping our bank balances forever!
I hope everyone is taking into consideration their pets and farm animals.. Give them shelter and keep them warm. So cold my crew had enough after a bathroom break and look around. lol
Waiting on the lull to pass. More winter white on the way.
Any chance we can figure a way to blame President Trump for this? No? I think he’s doing it to get us ready for when he gets Greenland. Just a thought.
Winter weather event followed by Carney’s revenge. No doubt the wind will blow hard.
100% tariff on Canadian weather!
Something I learned because of my camper, but forgot the exact physics:
Under a certain temperature, the vapor pressure of propane in the tanks reduces a lot, so the flow rate to your heater can drop below “enough to run the heater.”
This effect gets worse as the tank fill percentage drops.
Iirc at 10F, a half full propane tank becomes a problem for my camper.
Insulating the tanks makes it worse, because propane absorbs heat while expanding; even at 10F the tanks need heat from the air to *warm up*.
Hot water bags or electric tank heater blanket can help get the gas flowing again. Heating propane tanks with a blow torch is a very bad idea.
Power Strategy:
I have enough lead acid trolling batteries and an inverter to run my oil furnace for several days.
LiFePO4 and small inverters for the cable modem, computer, TV and lights.
That way, I only need to run a generator part of each day to charge batteries, and run the well pump and water heater.
If you are in a populated area, be careful someone doesnt steal your generator. One storm a neighbor found an old lawn mower sitting where his generator was when he went to sleep.

Nothing to see here, just massive nucleating attacks.
About 30 years ago, Ted Danson testified before the House of Representatives that 21st century children from New England would be unable to recognize a snowball as a result of global warming. As an actor who portrayed a Boston tavern owner on a critically acclaimed television series, he was apparently more than qualified to explain the intricate science of climatology. Leftists absolutely love celebrity spokespersons.
Where Al Gore? His quote will be: We will now begin having record cold winters and a soon forthcoming ice age due to man-caused global warming…uh…I mean climate change…America will be covered in a layer of ice by 2000…I mean…2030 if you don’t give the federal government more tax dollars.
