It has been widely reported that the FBI has been working closely with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in detecting and discovering corruption amid Ukraine officials who have skimmed money from various international aid programs. However, the Washington Post is suddenly concerned that FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino have held “secret meetings” with lead Ukraine peace negotiator Rustem Umerov.
This becomes interesting if you have followed along and noted that during negotiations the reports of Rustem Umerov indicated his concurrence with the peace agreements structured by Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Indeed, based on feedback during these meetings President Trump has said the Ukraine delegation appeared “quite happy” with the terms of the Witkoff/Kushner proposals, while Ukraine President Zelenskyy was less accepting.
Between the lines of statements following the consultations, it is easy to get the sense that Rustem Umerov is in alignment with the U.S. proposals, but Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not. Hence, Zelenskyy keeps returning to his U.K, France, Germany and EU support network for counterproposals despite his officials like Umerov working with the U.S. team directly.
This paragraph from within the WaPo (CIA) framework seems to tell a background story:

Some said they believe Umerov and other Ukrainian officials sought out Patel and Bongino in the hopes of obtaining amnesty from any corruption allegations the Ukrainians could face. The FBI working with NABU to uncover Ukraine corruption. The FBI is meeting with Ukraine lead negotiator, Rustem Umerov. A massive corruption scandal has just taken down Zelenskyy’s main aide, Andriy Yermak.

Perhaps Zelenskyy’s primary negotiator for the USA team, Rustem Umerov, has specific knowledge of corruption connected to the generous financial support the USA has provided Ukraine. Watching Yermak get taken down within the FBI/NABU investigation, might have triggered Umerov to cooperate on several levels.
Umerov reported as happy with the negotiated U.S. terms. Volodymyr Zelenskyy openly not happy with the negotiated terms.

I think there are many here that have the same questions as you do. Before the 2024 election, I regarded Rubio as charter member of the Uniparty, and one of the most compromised. I am not one who believes that leopards ever change their spots so easily, and in Rubio’s case, so conveniently.
I don’t think I will ever trust him, and especially not with the MAGA legacy. Having said that, he has performed extremely well as SoS, and that has been a welcome surprise. But I still see him as an untrustworthy chameleon.
I sincerely hope Rubio is permanently team Trump MAGA. But Sundance has said many times, they always go back to their original position. Maybe for once I am an optimist on Rubio. I don’t think I am a pessimist, I focus on solving the biggest problems and work my way down. But maybe I am a pessimist especially when the motto is “Things are go to get way worse”.
It is comforting to know that others are in the boat with me. I suppose that is why we are here – for information, understanding, & validation. My opinion, as just a follower of Sundance, is that Rubio knows exactly who Z is and dislikes him tremendously. As do I – except that I require a stronger word than dislike. Z is a disgusting person and a complete failure and embarrassment as a leader of a country. He does not deserve to be in the same room as President Trump. I could say more but will leave it at that.
Totally agree with your assessment of Z. That aligns with my opinion as well. Retired IG (who comments below) adds a lot to the discussion about how Ukraine has been used. I think what your comment & his validate for me is the extreme danger we are in as a result of the Kenyan. Maybe I’m not having trouble discerning. I doubt they would provide amnesty for any corruption, but they very likely could provide certain deals to avoid prosecution for how any US financial aid might have been misused or stolen if Umerove can provide the details on who stole it.

I agree. A peace deal is not in Zelenskyy’s interest, so he is doing everything he can to stop it. If peace is a achieved, he would have to hold the elections that he cancelled in 2023.
First, the Ukrainian negotiators are tools to keep Trump happy while Z plots against Trump.
It is possible that they are themselves dupes, except that they are dragging things out until Z is ready. Or as Sundance pointed out, quibbling over small details.
Second, It is already clear that Z is ready to counterattack Trump with rejection of Trump’s deal and release of the EU deal in just a few days.
This is Z’s pattern of Peace negotiations. Go along to squeeze out an advantage, then reject it.

If this is all true, it would be financed through line items in the Black Budget, and only a few like the Gang of Eight would know about it and preserve the secret.
So, why is the FBI in Ukraine, investigating corruption? Because they are investigating federal employees. That’s what it looks like, and the above is the only explanation that checks all the boxes.
