Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene announced on Twitter that she is resigning from Congress following her public feud with President Donald Trump. MTG will leave office January 5, 2026.
Marjorie Greene was elected to Congress in 2020 from a rural northwestern Georgia district. Prior to her surprise announcement she stood beside Representative Thomas Massie on controversial issues.

When you are on the field and the clock is running the Quarterback calls the play. The other 10 team members run their routes, make their blocks and protect the Quarter back.
Maybe she forgot that, or maybe she was never a team player? For now she’s on the bench, we’ll see where this takes her. President Trump can only play the team he rode over on the bus with.

Her event at the movie theater, and other behavior that started to show that she is less than stable. It is indeed sad, because she was an over the top MAGA warrior.

In quitting she also lied to the people of Georgia as well as to MAGA. She campaigned promising to Represent the people in her district, the people of Georgia, and the people in the MAGA movement. In quitting she Lied to everyone that she promised to represent.
No Governor can appoint a representative to the House. It is in the constitution that all representatives must be elected. Her seat will be vacant until filled by a special election.

From my perspective, there have been many on both sides not deserving of compensation, but they got it. Now just stop. Anyone with half a brain that wants to quit a job will evaluate their date based on annual raises, bonus, pension, health benefits, vacation, and even weather. If she is entitled to it then waiting a short time to quit is what 75% or more of American workers do. It is also appropriate to give your employer a few weeks notice at least so they can make the best of the situation. It is not a negative unless you are one of the Sea Island Splitters.

Correct. Her Conservative Review Liberty Score voting record is 100%, or an “A” rating. Very few Republicans score that high. However, she could have been directing her criticism more towards Georgia’s Fulton County Election Board for failing to release the 2020 Presidential election ballots that have been subpoenaed by the Georgia State Election Board. The coverup continues in her State and she has ignored the issue. Nothing matters in politics if elections are corrupted!

You have to understand that if you live in GA all you ever got was a Rhino establishment choice to pretend to represent, that is until MTG!

The majority of her money did not come from the construction company – one that resulted in her complaining about PDJT’s policy of large scale deportation and where she came down strongly on the side of the Dims.

I think that DJT presented her with her poll numbers for the gubernatorial race and she was like 20+ points down. While MTG has been entertaining on the national front, sometimes her publicity stunts have been more for her own aggrandizement as opposed to moving a particular policy forward in Congress.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep if this were Massie making the announcement – Thomas Massie represents Thomas Massie, no matter how he publicly positions himself. But Greene was mishandled.
MTG had not yet sold her soul to the Washington establishment, as so many do. She is a traditional conservative, but in the old school mode of actually thinking of the interests of the constituents that she represents, rather than the party at large. Maybe that type of representative, in these polarized times when one of the major parties has gone off the radical deep end and needs to be confronted as a unified bloc, is anachronistic, but it is not traitorous. The president gave in to his penchant for taking disagreement with his opinion personally and the guns blazing response made this result inevitable and did not strengthen the party.
Marjorie erred in going on places like The Spew (View) and DNN (CNN) to air her grievances with the Republican party. I understand, by then she knew she was on the way out. But giving the harpies, and by extension the radical Democrats, talking points, served only to sully what had been an honest, independent Republican voice. I guess when you feel your back is against the wall and too many are against you, then any port in a storm. But it was an emotional, vindictive, pig-headed decision on her part and a low point in her political career.
But the president needs to find another temperature below “blazing” to deal with these people, even if only for the cameras. I realize that subtlety has never been his hallmark, but there is a fine line between straight-talking and hubris. And depressing Republican turnout, in places where the non-stolen vote is often counted in hundreds, is unwise. He needs better advisors. He needs to be backed by prayers to God that he develops the humility to listen.

You didn’t say it, but I will — the President’s remarks were petulant, and not those of a statesman. I live in WA, not GA, but I often felt that MTG represented my interests and spoke for me.

As to this, I offer a few opinions:
One, if Marjorie was determined to make the first ten months of the administration more impactful than it’s been (The Big Beautiful Bill taking a hachet to taxes, a nearly closed border, the free trade free ride being tossed aside, etc.), then bringing up the Epstein matter, AGAIN, was a silly way to go about it. For the Democrats, Epstein is simply a talking point, one of many, on which to hammer the president, as if Democrats themselves were not the closest friends and confidantes of the late miscreant. It’s another “Squirrel!” call by which to divert attention from the president’s agenda. Marjorie has been there long enough to know better. Trump’s response to her pushing the Epstein diversion should have been predictable to her.
Two, that the Republicans got nothing done during the long shutdown was hardly the fault of Mike Johnson or any other Republican leader. That was all about Chuck Schumer seeing the handwriting on the wall and trying to shore up his crumbling base for the next election. Marjorie is there, she knows this. So to go on DNN (CNN) and criticize Republican leadership was, as I’ve posted, spiteful and vindictive and just silly. She let her emotions about being publicly attacked by the President get the better of her.
Last…and who said the Republicans have gotten nothing done??? The BBB, the border, taxes, DOGE highlighting waste, fraud and abuse which the administration has begun attacking. Iran’s nuclear ambitions set back in a major way. Immigration laws being enforced. The military buildup.. Runaway inflation being brought under control. Does she want us to believe that if Kamala had won ANY of this would have gotten done? Then who did it, the Democrats? No! Every step of the way they have obstructed, roadblocked and lawfared to keep any of this progress from happening and yet in her closing harangue Marjorie does not give appropriate credit for any of it, either to the Republicans for the good they have done or to the Democrats for the 5th column obstructionism that has been their only evidence of “governance” so far.
Marjorie began well, and I wish the President had not called her a traitor. He’s too quick on the tongue by far and has a penchant for shooting from the lip. But it’s possible to begin well and yet end so poorly that the good you’ve done is overshadowed. You demonstrate your real character by how you handle adversity. I give her credit where it’s due, but she needed to end better than she began. She didn’t.

what happened was she stayed firm on no foreign wars and the Epstein files. She also doesn’t want 600,000 H1B. But everyone here wants to pretend that somehow, we’re against those stances.
Her decision to step down will force a special election to fill the vacant seat. She is doing this at the worst possible time, just prior to the most important midterm election of our lifetime. The special election will be billed as a referendum on President Trump. The republican ticket will be split with little to no enthusiasm, the democrat ticket will be energized and united, funded with UPS plane loads of foreign cash parachuting in.

My brother lives in MTG’s district. He was never a fan of hers and would be happy with a less dramatic MAGA America First replacement. It’s a strong Red district but got a bit more Blue recently with some added area closer to Atlanta. I don’t see a Dem winning but who knows?

While I believe she is a patriot, she lets her emotions control her actions. Unfortunately, it is often a female trait. That is why I do not believe women should be in leadership positions in government nor the military. Our founders understood this, but it was wisdom soon lost. No doubt this is an unpopular perspective, but I view it as one of the many reasons why our nation is and has been in rapid decline. If women are CEOs, Congresswomen, etc., who is at home caring for the children and creating a nurturing environment for the family? I realize that there have and are women who are making valuable contributions to society, but do these contributions outweigh the value of raising the next generation?
Totally agree Nan, there are many facets to this terrible consequence. The late 60’s early 70’s and ‘womens lib’ was shoved down the throats of impressionable women. Everything she said in her resignation letter about congressional dysfunction has been kown for 15 years since the rise of the Tea Party. Indeed, it is the very reason her district sent her to DC. She knows that.
