White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt appears on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the ongoing federal government shutdown and the current position of the White House.
As noted by Leavitt, Democrats will kill the filibuster when/if they ever take power again, as the only thing that stopped them before was Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, both of whom are no longer in office as Democrats. Secretary Leavitt also discusses upcoming Supreme Court case regarding presidential authority for tariffs.
.

Wait!……..
An officer of the court, the judge, doesn’t tell congress and the president what to do, what to find etc.. The judge is supposed to follow the law(s) that congress passes except laws that violate the US Constitution. If there is no money for the issue before the court then there is no money, period.
I’m very thankful to Sundance for watching the Sunday shows so I don’t have to.
Just get to concentrate on the important things that matter through the SD curation.
Fully agreed; very high-value-added synopses.
I can’t find it in me to watch anything on any day that ends in “Y”.
So, instead of “continuing resolutions” that quietly “continue” (hence the name …) 100% of the pork that their predecessors did, while merely adding to it … how about: (gasp!) a real BUDGET? Enacted, from scratch, each and every year.
I think that it’s well past time for a Constitutional Amendment.
A Balanced Budget Amendment was tried in the 1990s; it didn’t get very far.
Implemented by the Uniparty a “balanced budget” is corrupted from the start.
I want Shiny Object but don’t have $$$ for it. I cast about for a new source of revenue (tax, fee, etc.). I get a new “rule” enacted by the responsible agency (they get 30%) that generates revenue so I can buy Shiny Object.
Voila! Balanced budget.
Folks that say they should give up their pay have it all wrong. They should be fined, per diem. “Failure to execute one of the handful of core functions for which you are actually needed.”
Leavitt makes a good point, the Dems will nuke the filibuster when they’re back in charge, regardless of what the Republicans do today,
Too often, Republicans have “acted like gentlemen”. Let’s “reach across the aisle”, etc. Such a pointless strategy when the goodwill only flows one way.
Strength, always. At home, and abroad. Trump gets it. Career bureaucrats, not so much.
BTW, any sightings of dead-from-starvation SNAP recipients? Me neither.
Hard to feel real sorry for 4th generation welfare trash & illegal invaders not getting SNAP. TOUGH! If you want to eat, get a job or self deport. In all my 70 years I’ve never taken a dime of free government handouts
Exactly the Correct Perspective, here
I remember my parents got one of those 5# blocks of government cheese, think it was in the 80’s after Good Ol’ Peanut man was living in DC Sewer.
We’re in the same general age group Oretiredg.
Pappy put me to work in the summers for others when I hit 11 just so I would know how one comes to have money.
I worked for 50+ years afterwardsin order to earn what I have.
Quaint notion it now seems…
“There are two kinds of people, those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group; there is less competition there.” (Indira Gandhi)
But “quaint” is not a relevant concept – there have always been those who “take the credit” so to speak – manipulating and exploiting others’ work to become rich.
“When a man tells you that he got rich through hard work, ask him: ‘Whose?’ ” (Don Marquis)
Even something like owning rental housing falls in this category: The landlord indirectly becomes more affluent by the labor of the tenant(s), aided by real estate law with corporate and tax benefits. One may argue that a landlord also works to achieve this gain, but he is leveraging the work of the tenants nonetheless.
The relatively new thing may be the massive welfare programs including SNAP/EBT. It’s easy to blame “4th generation welfare trash & illegal invaders” we see freeloading, but it all got started with hardworking resourceful people literally starving c.1930s because they were not in the monied class (e.g. property owners), read Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath for a glimpse.
And nowadays some of the aid recipients are disabled by harm from military service, or modRNA shots, they truly need help in this anti-family society that has left them without a safety net. (Thank feminism together with corporatism for the destruction of the family.)
And the outsourcing of American jobs will push some to the bottom. Here’s a glimpse:
https://revolver.news/2025/10/federal-express-collierville-tn-great-overnight-replacement/
Lots of complaining about the aid programs, but if they are cut back or cancelled the destitute on the street and crime will increase. The greater problem relates to fundamentals of America’ sinking which cannot be stopped.
I leave you with that black pill.
GOP Senators are in the U.S. Senate to enrich themselves, whether directly through money or indirectly through power. Which entails performative interrogations on toothless committees and mastery of the sternly worded letter. Anything proactive is anathema to them, and, given their six-year terms and their staggered elections, they often can outlast a presidential term. I thus look for John Thune to retreat to his South Dakota mega-ranch, to hide from this call to action.
😂 no sightings of the dead from starvation. They must be hiding with the homeless Covid dead on the streets somewhere.
RATS are evil.
RINOS are their evil enablers.
RATS + RINOS = UniParty.
The democrats would accomplish very little if the “behind-closed door” republicans were not covertly assisting them.
This is exhausting, They’re keeping it shut down because if they don’t fight for the illegals benefits, they will have no voting base. NONE!
Some suggest:
They are keeping it shut down to continue degrading the US.
Veiled Controllers acting through the opaque agency based in 22101 are colluding with the rising juggernaut in the east to manage America’s decline, as part of the 100 Year Plan.
The sombreros etc. are theater.
The filibuster stands as a significant barrier to the will of the American people, undermining the foundational principle of majority rule enshrined in our Constitution. President Trump has rightly called upon Senate Republicans to eliminate this outdated procedural tool, especially in light of the ongoing government shutdown. By doing so, we can ensure that the voices of the majority are heard and that our legislative priorities are enacted without obstruction.
Getting rid of the filibuster will also expose leftist uniparty “republicans” in the senate that won’t be able to hide behind their uniparty democrat comrades.
The time has come to end the filibuster and reclaim our legislative power. By doing so, we will not only honor the Constitution but also ensure that the voices of the American people are heard loud and clear. Let us move forward with strength and determination to secure a brighter future for our nation. Let senators live or die in elections based on for what and whom they really stand.
There are five, 5, RINOs who will likely vote against doing so. Maybe more.
‘…based on for what and whom they really stand.’
Money, power, and those who offer bribes, with few exceptions.
In terms of eliminating the filibuster. It’s a now or never situation, It’s the only chance that the broad spectrum corruption that has taken place in the judicial system is ever going to be remediated to any degree of relevancy in the near future, and in terms of a long term solution.
The only backstop to the never ending corruption is putting competent people back in the courts rooms, and removing the incompetent from positions of litigating the law.
For that to happen the senate judiciary committee has to nix the blue slip rule.
Seems like that would have been a no brainier to me. Should’ve already been a done deal. They can only drag out doing it for a short time without admitting to the facts of the matter at hand.
President Donald Trump called out Senate Judiciary Committee chair Chuck Grassley while asserting that multiple U.S. attorney picks remain unconfirmed because Grassley is honoring the blue slip tradition.
Grassley, one of the worst of the worst long standing Senators in all of both parties.
You do not even want to get me started or hear about what I know as fact concerning Grassley’s morals. He’s a worthless dirt bag.

Exactly…some more made-up rule of the senate
They created rules out of thin air for their own objective of being able to consolidate all power and control into the UNI parties hands.
Loopholes made in the law inclusively for themselves to use at will and to be able to circumvent the rules that were already in place.
The only reason those rules are ever used today for is circumventing the laws that were already in place to begin with and that prevented them from having UNI party control.
I don’t see thune nuking the filibuster, remember, he is turtle spawn
I had completely forgotten about Sinema and Manchin. NOW it makes sense, and I’ve changed my opinion. Get rid of the filibuster and at least try to get something through the herd of RINOs.
Karoline is the perfect spokesman for President Trump👍👍
Does anyone have thoughts as why Dems are doing this now?
Is it the upcoming elections?
We don’t understand since the CR was passed before.
Thank you,
We are so grateful for this site and all your insight.

Two primary reasons, following upon one central premise:
The Premise. PDJT is deporting their illegal alien replacement base. The left’s future electorate model is built entirely around illegal aliens. Worse still, by his policies, PDJT is systematically removing most of the incentives for the illegal aliens to stay, causing them to leave of their own accord. Free food, free housing, and free medical care are all slowly being exposed and shut down federally. And the border is now sealed tight.
And this is before the coming effects of red state redistricting and the expected neutering of the VRA by SCOTUS, which could cost Democrats the permanent loss of over 20 House districts. In addition, the party has lurched dramatically left in the past 4 years, and has been effectively hijacked by younger communists.
The longer term national prospects for the Democrat party at the federal level are presently darkening.
The left is now intent on fomenting massive civil unrest, particularly in blue cities and strongholds, where the unrest can be best manipulated for maximum political optics. Many in their emerging leadership (who are increasingly revolutionary communists) believe there is no solution except mass unrest leading to possible succession and civil war. Stop government, and all government benefits to their increasingly violent base. They want their base to rise up aggressively. There are few better and faster instigators of mass unrest than a food crisis.
A government shutdown also impedes the progress of the PDJT Agenda, and implementation of elements in the BBB that fund it. Especially those policies concerning illegal aliens and their deportation, but also including many others that counter their globalistic communist ideology that PDJT is undoing. They are desperate to slow down Trump, and have few strategic tools left. Their lawfare campaign has nearly run out its effectiveness, as SCOTUS reaches and decides their rogue district judge attempts, one by one, in PDJT’s favor.
They are not getting their $1.5 Trillion for free illegal alien healthcare to keep their invaders here. So they will continue to cause America pain until something cracks. Hopefully they will be cracked asunder, as mass public opinion on the shutdown is increasingly against them.
If PDJT can convince the GOP to abolish the filibuster, the Democrats will be out of serious legislative weapons, including to instigate this shutdown.
Let’s not forget Cuck Schumer knowing he’ll lose his grift to AOC if he bends the knee. He’s hanging on to his position for all it’s worth – citizens be damned
Schumer is now hostage to the extreme left that has taken over NYC, and is about to elect a muslim communist mayor.
And they will politically execute him soon anyway. He’s the wrong race and from the wrong era for these political terrorists and the horde that has taken over that city. A very stupid little man, thinking they will just “eat him last” if he puts America through this ordeal for them. That’s not how communists roll.
Yes, Commu-Shumer is their latest and greatest patsy but he doesn’t care. He’s old and politically done, will retire soon. There no downside to him for this. I guess that’s why he got elevated to be the Gov. shutdown Communist-Patsy chair.
I just flagged myself accidentally.
Thank you Oldersoul for taking the time to answer.🦅
That makes sense and we appreciate the deep explanation.
Hoping they get cracked asunder soon.
President Trump is working so, so hard.
🙏🇺🇸✝️
My pleasure. Keep praying for PDJT and our beautiful Nation.
Amen.
Speedy Gonzalez is being deported faster than then the Democrats counted on, their law fare is not working, and maybe the Blue Dog Democrats want to try to rebuild and leave their socialists in the party behind…it’s really all they have left.
A Blue Dog Democrat is like hens teeth in 2025.
The only one I know of in the Senate is John Fetterman. And the Democrats are now setting up to primary him.
Yes, because the Uniparty, Rinos and Dems which are now out in the open plain Communist despise President Trump and all who voted him in.
One thing is clear to me, the CommuDems are a true monolith that never backs down. The Earth could stop spinning before they will ever agree with President Trump’s administration to reopen the Government. They see it as a defeat if they do reopen it, so they never will. I don’t know how P. Trump will get around the Uni, the Rinos and the CommuDems but I have faith that he will do so.

So the question is why doesn’t Thune end the filibuster?
How about the other R senators remove him from his position and put someone in place who’ll do this?
If bad things happen in the air with planes crashing and food riots the blood and expense will all be on him alone.
In looking at the commentartiat lately, I am noticing longer and longer comments… Am I wondering too much to maybe seeing AI creeping into our little slice of the world???
If AI ever starts quoting me, let me know. I’ll start asking for royalties.
There was a gentleman here posting very long AI outputs here a while back. At least he was plainly describing them as AI generated. And some of us here would poke fun at him for increasing our electric bills with every query.
😂😂😂😂👍👍
The filibuster is a another hedge against mob rule, aka democracy.
The United States is not actually a democracy, it is a Constitutional Republic, by design to stymie volatile mob rule easily manipulated by demagogues.
Or at least that’s the design. But as we see, no matter the design, it all turns corrupt anyway because all are sinful. (Romans 3:23) So few civilizations survive very long. One exception seems to be China, now rising to dominate as the volatile US is apparently sinking.
When you hear US political figures on the left say “democracy”, that’s code for socialism.

Leavitt’s face has gotten noticeably less pale since she started, despite a likely lack of time for either sunshine or tanning bed exposure.
The color is now similar to Trump’s on-camera face color. She must be using the same airbrush formulation applied by the same makeup crew.
Regardless of how smart and articulate she may be, the heavy cosmetic treatments detract. Just like all “cosmetically-enhanced” camera personalities – including men.
