Every honest historical account of WWII discusses how the USA won the war through sheer industrial production. Heck, there is even a documentary series titled “War Of The Factories” about how the war of production is what won the war. Premiere Ford said publicly that he ran the ad to purposely split the Reagan Republicans from the MAGA Republicans and wanted it to air in all the red states that it could. Carney did not stop him even after both men were informed by the Reagan library that they were considering legal action. This is a clear act of war in a sense and at the least a diplomatic attack of the highest order.
President Trump would be within his rights to actually break all diplomatic ties over this and issue sanctions if he chose to do so. It is that serious of a violation. The tariff increase is actually quite mild.
