I watched some of this live and thought to myself these reporters are really silly now.
One of the questions was asking President Trump if he planned on getting $230 million from the DOJ for targeting him. Trump had no idea what the “journalist” was talking about and asked them to repeat the question three times because it didn’t make sense. Essentially, he laughed it off. Then the New York Times comes out with a story headlined: “Trump Said to Demand Justice Dept. Pay Him $230 Million for Past Cases,” according to “people familiar with the matter.”

Trump said any money he gets from the settlement he will donate to charity. I think he should subtract the money he had to spend on lawyers out of pocket and donate the remainder to charity.

This is why people need to be reminded that free speech comes with a responsibility. Our Founding Fathers understood this. Come to think of it, the Alien and Sedition Acts dealt with newspapers and their treatment of the sitting President (John Adams), among other things. We have a tendency to view this act and its implementation in 1798 as a blot on our history. However, the journalists of the day, the same as today, take “free speech” for granted.
Read Chapter LXXIV: Sections 1-4 of the Sedition Act. They cover some very interesting ground and are much different than the common modern argument that Adams was solely using it against his political opponents, opposing newspapers, etc.
