At a topline review the demands of the EU are pure hubris. However, when you review the underlying background of the EU state actors, the events are more appropriately considered pathetic.

China is making massive economic moves inside and around Europe as an offset to lost position in North America. In case you haven’t noticed, Europeans are starting to drive BYD’s (Build Your Dreams), while Merz angrily eats his strudel. Xi’s industrial capacity is much stronger than Brussels’ ability to withstand it.
To keep the pitchfork proles from noticing the mounting economic losses, Macron, Starmer and Merz have been pushing Ukraine/Russia shiny things. Gaza presents another opportunity to cloak the naked European emperors.

A little more context as to why the EU is worried from a different angle.
The current efforts in Gaza and likely to be extended to the “Jordon West Bank”, if things in Gaza hold-up, are based on efforts by major signatories of the Abraham Accords. (Egypt, Saudi, Jordon, Qatar, ISRAEL…).
That’s right Qatar who likes to play bot side of the fence and that is why the warhawks in the US Senate want a major investigation into Qatar over funding terrorism in the US. Of course Qatar puts money onto their campaigns as well and these Senators are just creating another shiny object chasing the obvious.
