A government shutdown, and big reductions in the size of federal agencies and the number of fed employees, are very popular issues. It is what most MAGA voters are expecting, and much of the TEA party energy was focused around reducing the extent size reach influence of an overreaching expensive overbearing redundant bloated federal government.
I say enough of the trolling, get Vought and OMB in there and start shutting down and eliminating entire federal agencies, and making significant cuts to the others. They all need a haircut.

Actually it’s probably more simple than this. The US government was founded on some revolutionary ideas. Among these are no “classes” among the people. ALL are equal. There are no “commons” vs “lords” in our system as much as they would like it to be. And the acknowledged respect for the rights which come from God, meaning powers which CANNOT be delegated to the government at any level, shall not be infringed.
It is these powers, those which belong to God alone, which they want to assume. They don’t believe in the after-life consequences but no one needs to. This is the basis for defining limited government whether or not you are a believer and this is critically important to our body of law. After all, it’s still a matter of opinion what we believe exists. But it’s NOT a matter of opinion that law says “government can’t do this to people.”

I’ve heard some speculation on the idea that this is actually an intentional way to stop deportations.
So this may be a way to handle this issue.
They desperately want those padded census numbers. They desperately need those names on forms accidentally appearing in voter roles. They NEED these midterms. Trump will deny them their cheating as much as possible.
If this speculation is even close to true, we can expect to see law suits filed about the operations and pay of ICE and other law enforcement and adjacent employees during this time.
So you don’t think it is even reasonably possible that Democrats, Independents, and a lot of traditionally-Republican voters show up in record numbers to vote a straight-Democratic ticket in both 2026 and 2028?
