BREAKING. Conservative pundit and leading voice of Turning Point USA Charlie Kirk was about 20 minutes into a presentation when he was shot, a spokesperson for Utah Valley University told NBC News.
The spokesperson said, to the best of the university’s knowledge, Kirk was hit and taken with his security team away from the premises, and the courtyard was cleared. Video from Twitter below:
Kirk was sat in a tent with the “American Comeback Tour” logo when a shot is heard and Kirk physically recoils, slumping down in his seat. Blood is seen flowing down from his neck and the crowd audibly panics and begins to run.

Both .22 caliber and .17 caliber rifles have similar skinny barrels. Both calibers can be suppressed. There are four different kinds of .22 cartridges: .22 magnum, .22 long rifle, .22 long, and .22 short. All but the .22 magnum can be suppressed to the loudness of an $80,000 Lexus car door closing.
The .22 magnum and .17 caliber bullets can not be quieted to Lexus door closing equivalent. That’s because they’re supersonic. They break the sound barrier and produce a loud CRACK! in flight. A suppressor will lessen the loudness of the CRACK! of these two bullets, but not eliminate it.
I speculate the loud CRACK! we heard was a .22 magnum or .17 caliber, fired from a suppressed rifle. Whether this vid is of the suspect and the murder weapon, or a vid of another incident altogether at another time, we’ll have to wait to find out.
I find it hard to believe at 200 yards it’s a small caliber rifle!

Martin: The rifle appears to have a suppressor. The rifle itself appears to be traditional, wood-stock hunting rifle.
Its a Weihrauch HW80 break barrel pellet gun. NOT the assassination weapon.

The kind you cock by break- bending the barrel just forward of the end of the wooden stock. That provides the shooter with the place to insert a pellet and also compresses the air in a cylinder which releases when the trigger is pulled.

Yes. A long rifle has a very percussive resonance, which was not the sound heard today at the tragic event.
Videos should provide light as to who was stationed closest to Charlie, as well as those
stationed directly behind them.
If collaborators had deliberately populated a zone in which the shooter could be shielded from view
by a large huddle of collaborators, he could have been located close to Kirk with the appropriate smaller
weapon, and then escaped inside the huddle while everyone scattered, and or descended on the diversionary ‘old guy’
who claimed responsibility.
It makes no sense that the shooter would have wanted to stand out on a bright sunny day with black tactical attire.
The sound you heard was EXACTLY what a suppressed supersonic bullet in flight sounds like. And “suppressor” is the correct terminology, not “silencer”. A suppressor works by allowing the supersonic propulsion gases to rapidly expand and thus slow to subsonic speed, all within the tube of the suppressor, as affected by internal components within that tube.
While a suppressor can suppress and substantially quiet the sound of supersonic GASSES leaving the barrel, it can’t suppress or stop the supersonic CRACK! of the bullet in flight. That CRACK! is what we heard on the video, and judging by the pencil slim barrel of that rifle, and the reported sniper location of 200 yards distant, I’d say the rifle is bolt action .223 or .243, or, possibly .17 caliber.
The .17 caliber has a muzzle velocity of, iirc, about 4,300 fps; which is INCREDIBLY FAST. That speed and the bullet’s light weight make it shoot very flat, with little bullet drop at 200 yards.
No matter what caliber, the CRACK! we heard was the supersonic crack of a bullet in flight, fired from a suppressed rifle, from which we did NOT hear the louder and more profundo sound of the propulsion gasses escaping from the muzzle, because those gasses had been made subsonic by the suppressor.
In this case the suppressor did what it’s supposed to do. It hid or disguised the shooter’s location, inasmuch as the sound of the shot EXITING THE BARREL was inaudible. And while the sonic crack of the bullet in flight WAS audible, no one could tell where the shot came from because the suppressor made the rifle’s expansion gasses inaudible to the crowd at large.

This is a terrible tragedy, and I agree with all of you calling Charlie Kirk a martyr, and I also understand these comments don’t bring a father and a husband and a warrior of truth back, but I want to share a story about a similar personal experience. When I was a teenager a dear friend died in a car accident. This person was a remarkable soul, honest to a fault, defender of the bullied, almost always wore a warm smile and had a kind word, and life for him was a great adventure. He also was faithful to the teachings of God and Jesus. At his funeral, in a moment of candor, I asked out loud to a friend, “why would God let this happen?” This wise friend turned to me and said (and I paraphrase), “when a person figures out all that is Heavenly grace on this earth and has the gumption to live it honestly and by His word, God will bring that person back to His side, because that’s where they belong, and it doesn’t matter how old we are when we “get it”.”This has stuck with me for 40 plus years and I’ve come to believe it with my whole heart having witnessed many others living and dying in that time. Charlie Kirk was one of God’s warrior angels. Fearlessly spreading truth in a time of universal deceit. He lived Christ-like when he was with us, and now he’s by His side.
All that said, I am also f$&@ing pi$&ed off about this. Charlie Kirk’s life and death are inspiration to act.

No identification of sniper position, no description of subject, no evidential video beyond the horrible shooting itself, no authoritative Law Enforcement statements . . . All I see is a cold (and getting colder) trail.
Kash messed up BIG TIME by jumping the gun, but I see no viable leads or competent local police investigative activity to speak of right now.

First they say we committed suicide, after all we must be crazy. Then they say it was a random act of crime, that’s ashamed, should have worked with us on gun control. Finally they kill us out in the open in front of the world, after all we were a threat to the ordered state.
IF there was someone “running on the roof”, they were a decoy and in on the hit. No one who plans an assassination like this, in broad daylight with hundreds and hundreds of potential witnesses, would expose themselves upright and running after making the shot.
If they’re experienced enough to aim for the carotid, knowing a head shot can be survived, they’re experienced enough to make the shot from a highly concealed position, possibly from inside a building.

The roof was right by a parking lot, easy access, stairs leading up to a walkway, turn right go to a building, turn left go to the roof where the shot was taken.
No experienced sniper aims for the neck on a 200 yd shot, much less a headshot. Neck shots are common in CQB to counter body armor. More likely an amateur who didn’t properly account for ballistics when shooting down slope. A lucky shot, but effective nonetheless.
