Simultaneous with the German economy contracting and Chancellor Fredrich Merz saying the expansive entitlement programs are no longer sustainable, as if on cue the German Bundestag is now promoting conscription to make their military much bigger.
The compulsory military service plan is being decided amid two options. Option #1 is compulsory service reinstated only if the Bundestag vote for it. Option #2 is mandated military service becomes automatically law if voluntary conscription targets are missed.
This new military service requirement is coming on the heels of Germany pledging to lead the coalition of the willing on NATO spending. Remember, CIA operations in Ukraine are based out of Germany.

Did I read this correctly, a six month conscription? Why bother? I have a thought, the unemployed musslemen will sign up for the 6 month training on weapons handling and firing. What could possibly go wrong?
The objective at this time is not to build up a large standing force …. that may come 3 YEARS from now, when a new administration enters the White House and new session of Congress starts.
The objective over the NEXT 36 months is build up a trained pool of people with basis Military Training augmented by drill periods to teach advanced individual and small unit skills based on evolving doctrine as well as equipment needed for that doctrine.
Terms of enlistment go beyond the 6-months of initial service.
Also, don’t be so sure those conscripts are necessarily meant for use outside Germany or possibly as emergency forces inside the EU (deployed upon requests for intervention). During the Hitler era … even the Brown Shirt and SS street gangs-enforcers received basis military training as well as indoctrination.
European Nations and Russia have experience and very long histories of this type of conscription.
This is something your average US Citizen and Politician never grasped after demobilization following the US Civil War with respect to conscription. Our “volunteer” US National Guard is a much more lavishly equipped version of this concept … a potential force in being.
The other problem is demographics … if the native citizen population of a nation is declining and historically only so many citizens are inclined to be “volunteer warriors”, especially if being a warrior is NOT a popular occupation … a nation’s armed forces WILL have a manpower issue. The US is having issues now for more than DEI and WOKE reasons.

I was stationed in Germany twice, in the ‘70s and 80s.
Both times I was there, Germany had mandatory service. A German friend of mine told me that if you jumped through the right hoops, your service could be working in a hospital or other non-military related service. (That was mostly for people with moral issues about killing, which covered most of the younger Germans I knew. They thought they were 60s hippies, lol.). And, it was for two years.
I served in exercises with German troops. Although the younger ones were mostly draftees, the NCOs and Officers were professionals. Their Bundeswehr was well- equipped and we respected them.
Apparently, mandatory national service stopped there in 2011.

If you are only supposed to be cannon fodder, then all you need to be is “barely trained.”

6 months might be enough training for brown shirts to go house to house in the civilian population, arresting and harassing those who resist tyranny, but it’s more likely imprinting young minds to follow orders whether to round up civilians who are concerned that tyranny has taken over or to use young men as cannon fodder in a war that is already planned or underway. It is certainly not enough training to send them into serious combat unless the goal is to slaughter these men. Freedom can be so easily taken away, but it is oh so difficult to regain.
End result, an army made up of mostly muslim non-native Europeans. Perfect to control a defiant and unhappy native population, in case they get fed up with the ruling class in the future.
