Merz and other European leaders demand that Putin first agrees to a ceasefire before any peace talks or land swaps between Moscow and Kyiv can take place. They have also made clear that any potential territorial exchanges must be balanced and agreed with Kyiv, and that Ukraine should receive firm security guarantees to protect it against further aggression.

Keil WP in Germany has tracked the amounts donated by all countries since the start of the war (and try to push for more) and per their most current numbers the average DAILY funding to Ukraine since the start of the war is approximately $225 Million (almost $300 Billion total aid). Is Z getting 10%, like the big guy? If so, that’s $22.5M/day.

1) EU does not have the material to keep Ukraine going or the will to commit EU forces.
2) Putin is probably meeting as a delaying tactic. That tactic will terminate any goodwill from PDJT.
3) Zylinski can be part of the land swap or not. Think he knows only the Baltic states may back him. Poles have the only capable land force. They did not build it to further EU policies.
4) PDJT has degraded Russian allies capabilities. CCP is in fiscal chaos. Iran can’t absorb another stealth bomber operation. India will scale down buys of Russian oil. Russia is in a war economy with a declining income stream.

Having followed this conflict since its inception, I don’t understand the psychology of these EU leaders. From what I’ve read, most EU nations have already delivered most of their weapons into Ukraine over the past 3 years, leaving their stocks at an all time low. The militaries of each of these nations is nowhere nearly as powerful, even if combined, to continue the conflict without the US. The ‘German industrial complex’ and its manufacturing base, are suffering as they no longer have access to Russian gas, and must pay 4x as much for US LPG. Other than saber rattling, I don’t see any way forward for the EU and UK, without US continued intervention.

There’s little dispute that USA was a starter of the war. Rubio stated it was a proxy war of ours. However, President Trump has made it absolutely clear he does not approve of this or any wars. Who started it has been established, who wants it to end has more strongly been established. NATO, minus US and some others, wants Ukraine for their own purposes in their strive to hurt Russia. Not so President Trump. In fact, it might be said he considers Russia to be more like America than any EU nation along with UK.
The CIA/Deep State decide what the policies are, Presidents have always played along. Time will tell if President Trump can break free. Annoying to no end, Zelensky gets the first say before a meeting between President Trump and Putin. Just once it would be nice to read that President Trump declined to meeting with such people until after he has spoken to Putin. No wonder the war continues when it seems to be the warmongers get to make the first moves.
