Okay, this is a very big win. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen outlines some more details of the U.S-EU trade agreement. The parameters fall similar to the Japanese deal, without the banking aspect.
The EU will face (and accept) a 15% tariff rate for most exports to the USA including autos, that’s huge, even with some zero-for-zero tariff sectors outlined. The primary motivating factor was to avoid the 35% tariff rate scheduled for August 1st and provide the EU corporations with certainty in their tariff rate as applied by the USA (15%). WATCH:

He wants to release the Epstein files now to show that he wasn’t involved in it but now another court won’t let him do it to keep protecting the democrats, and to keep it a mystery so they can keep accusing him of being involved, at so many levels this is really simple stuff, but the situation is constantly changing – this is why President Trump (like any intelligent person) is always flexible.
President Trump is fighting like nobody else, only an inert neurotic complainer (or troll) could sit on the sidelines and bitch.

Don’t you think the previous administration, once Trump got elected in 2024, started shredding documents regarding Epstein? Interesting story I read yesterday. Epstein had a mansion in Manhattan. Seven stories, and I think I remember 19,000 sq. ft. In 2019, the FBI raided the house. The brilliant FBI remembered to bring a crow-bar to get in the front door, they remembered to bring a power saw with metal cutting blades to break into Epstein’s safe, and they remembered to bring a nice 35mm camera to photograph all the DVD’s, films, and photos of everything that took place there. Oops, there was one thing they forgot. A warrant to seize the evidence. Oh, just a minor mistake! We’ll go back and get one. Two days later they came back with a warrant. Oops, all the DVDs and evidence were gone. The brilliant FBI didn’t leave anyone to guard the house. Can you say– on purpose. The FBI didn’t want anyone else to get the evidence. They probably stole it themselves to keep as blackmail material on others. Chris Wray was head of the FBI at the time.

Why a 15% tariff? The terms disclosed on Sunday suggest that 15% is likely the new tariff level for America’s trading partners because…

Good points. But he used the threat of continuing tariffs to get von der Leyen to argue that 15% is a lot better than 27.5% or higher. So he has used them skilfully no matter what some Court somewhere has ruled.
Exactly, and the EU also knew that President Trump has authority for 15% tariffs so that’s what everyone agreed to! In a way, it was good that everyone involved knew about the CIT decision and obviously the appeal which is being heard this Thursday before the entire panel of the Court of Federal Appeals in New York. It gave everyone involved in the negotiations a good reason to be reasonable and we come out the winner!

The repaying of tariffs in the USCIT has already been blocked by appeals court. Also, the National Emergencies Act has no limits on the President’s ability to declare what is a national emergency, so it is unlikely the tariffs can be stopped according to IEEPA on the basis that the President’s use of national emergency is not legitimate once that goes up to a higher court ruling, even SCOTUS. At any rate, hundreds of thousands of fentanyl deaths is hardly a capricious use of a national emergency declaration.
The court issued an administrative stay because they wanted the tariff policy to remain consistent during the appeal process instead of bouncing between collecting and refunding tariffs. We’ll have an idea what the court decides on Thursday during the oral arguments.

Well, that’s the heart of the problem because under the Constitution the power to impose tariffs and taxes is reserved to Congress not the President. It stems from the British tariff on tea and other goods being imported into the United States. The authors of the Constitution did not want the President of the United States to have the same powers as King George.
Look at this way. Would you want President Kamala Harris to have the power to declare a national climate emergency and put a $10 per gallon tariff or excise tax on gasoline? You have to look down the road.

Once a bilateral Trade Agreement is signed I would assume the emergency was over by mutual agreement and the Judges can once again fold up their black robes and chill. Would like to see the list of all products exempted from the tariffs. I vould not follow the names as she read from notes. But it sounded like a large number with the great majority being products we sell to Europe and few they sell to us.
Also, I would like to know if Europe is going to be allowed to harass our tech. Companies with ridiculous monopoly claims and lawsuits which saddle our tech companies with billions of dollars in fines and attorneys fees.
I would have been happy with leaving the 35% tariff in place on all products and 100% tariff on all products if the euroweenies sue one of our tech companies over unfair marketing practices.

What was originally to me called the Truman Plan was named changed to Marshall, as the team leader, David Rockefeller, was concerned that “Truman” would appear political and Marshall being a “respected” WWII General would be a better “sell”. The whole shebang was to use the American working men and women in footing the bill while the Anglo-American oligarchs and their European “friends” would reap the profits. CNBC as a column about this right now and I read it. It’s very upsetting and I pray to God this does not happen. This column goes on to state that Trump will likely lose in the Supreme Court as well. If anyone has any information on this, please let us know. Surely the Trump administration will argue fiercely at Scotus!

The US Court of International Trade just issued a unanimous ruling in the case against Trump’s “liberation day” tariffs filed by Liberty Justice Center and myself on behalf of five US businesses harmed by the tariffs. The ruling also covers the case filed by twelve states led by Oregon; they, too, have prevailed on all counts. All of Trump’s tariffs adopted under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA) are invalidated as beyond the scope of executive power, and their implementation blocked by a permanent injunction. In addition to striking down the “Liberation Day” tariffs challenged in our case (what the opinion refers to as the “Worldwide and Retaliatory Tariffs”), the court also ruled against the fentanyl-related tariffs imposed on Canada, Mexico, and China (which were challenged in the Oregon case; the court calls them the “Trafficking Tariffs”).
It is worth noting that the panel include judges appointed by both Republican and Democrat presidents, including one (Judge Reif) appointed by Trump, one appointed by Reagan (Judge Restani), and one by Obama (Judge Katzmann).
Here is the court’s summary of its ruling, from its per curiam opinion (issued in the name of all three judges together):
The Constitution assigns Congress the exclusive powers to “lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises,” and to “regulate Commerce with foreign Nations.” U.S. Const. art. I, § 8, cls. 1, 3. The question in the two cases before the court is whether the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (“IEEPA”) delegates these powers to the President in the form of authority to impose unlimited tariffs on goods from nearly every country in the world. The court does not read IEEPA to confer such authority and sets aside the challenged tariffs imposed thereunder.

Thinking back over the last 6 months it is ASTONISHING what Trump 2.0 has already accomplished. Woke is dead. The border secured and the bad guys being removed. Illegals self deporting. DOGE cuts. Trump tax bill extended and improved. New trade deals galore. Inflation down and stock markets at highs DESPITE tariffs, which even I expected to lead to higher prices in the short term. Now I read of a DOGE program to intelligently use tech to scour the tens of thousands of regulations and cut regulatory capture and waste. Rosie and Ellen gone and Colbert a few months away from a basement podcast no one outside the crazy bubble listens to. What am I missing…so much!
