Well I’m disappointed.
Anyone who has been here should know that I’m rather a troglodyte when it comes to technology. I refuse to use a cell/smart phone (GPS tracker), wireless anything etc. which I won’t rehash now.
I also am a lawyer who has offered to draft legislation and lobby it to alleviate issues and concerns. So for months, every time this subject has come up, I have requested examples of specific concerns that, under the constitution and laws of the United States (we are not China, we are not the EU), would create new harm to innocent individuals. I also have spent considerable time attempting to explain what surveillance already has been out there for decades (apparently news to many), and requested information regarding how AI and speeding this up will cause harm. I asked for something concrete.
I have received nothing. No help. No suggestions. No encouragement whatsoever.
Best as I can tell it’s bitch and moan, be fear-mongering negative fatalists, complain about the Tech Bros (primarily Palantir and Vance, ignoring the rest), offer vague and/or uninformed and/or unrealistic commentary and refuse to engage, or else allude to Mark of the Beast.

I agree with you that it is inevitable. So then the question becomes:
Would we rather develop this under the Trump administration and at least attempt to enact protective laws and regulations (as well as gaining the economic benefits of efficiency) — or just leave it to private industry or foreign governments to be put into place via a smattering of contracts with state and local governments and ultimately the federal government under the auspices of dingbat or corrupt Dem administrations.

The problem is half of our commenters are either not using smart devices and the ones like me who do are technologically deficient while using them. This big brother will scoop us up for saying or doing the wrong thing when our freedom is stolen again. I can’t even begin to comprehend the enormity of it all. Like under Covid, being shut in my home because I wouldn’t take the jab, couldn’t wear a mask, therefore wasn’t allowed to go anywhere except a small grocery store. Even there it was nasty looks and comments. That was a lonely few years. Now it follows us into our homes and everywhere. Stopping it seems an insurmountable task while feeling completely invaded.

That said I do have a point of issue and that is of privacy. The constitution guarantees us a right to privacy. I hear many say they avoid all technology, and I think they do not realize that unless they live alone in a cave their faces and friends and activities are uploaded whether or not you join socials or don’t participate in any way.
Walk down the street and you are on multiple ring doorbells and security systems. Go to a ballgame and some takes a photo you aren’t even of and you are on the internet.
Your grandkids come very and FaceTime their friends. If you talk near anyone I suspect they can identify your voice print and match it to those around you just like a photo.
I think people should be blurred out unless they have specifically consented to be on Facebook or whatever software is uploading to the World Wide Web.
If you don’t specifically consent, how can they not be invading my privacy when they upload me onto the World Wide Web without my permission.
I don’t see any other way but to make it illegal for the tech giants to sell, capture, stalk, my pictures/purchases/life onto the World Wide Web without obtaining permission first.. or a warrant.
They can put that AI to good use blurring everyone and anyone who did not give them permission.

Define searches; Frisking somebody? Going through a desk, a safe, a purse or wallet? A data base of information about someone?
Define seizures; Taking physical possession of any object or property? Retrieving personal information from a database?
Far too much personal information already gathered about everyone and far too easy to access.

4th Amendment requires “warrant issued on probable cause” or an exception, e.g. exigent circumstances (you were in a car accident, bleeding; police can search for your ID; e.g. search incident to arrest.)
Courts continually have grappled with where you have an expected “zone of privacy”.
When someone is in public, that’s not considered to be private. (What’s in their pockets, yes; their face, no. Public commentary, yes; letter to their mother, no.)
Information that already has been given to the government (licensing, tax and information returns) is not private from the government, and without specific privacy laws, in large part to the public as well.
This is why I have been asking for suggestions regarding where “firewalls” need to be placed.
As I see the issue, the complaint boils down to not wanting a government official or law enforcemement officer to be able to access “everything” simultaneously (or just be alerted when conflicting information appears in separate databases), versus being able to pull the very same information over the course of a few minutes.
I remain confused regarding what the new fears are over having one’s picture taken at airport check-in versus: cameras already are up everywhere there, pictures are on driver licenses and passports, a fingerprint or signature is akin to “biometrics”, most people are walking around with their GPS trackers (phones), and the X-ray machines people seem to not mind going through and which at least temporarily store images electronically, are not only a health risk but also equivalent to naked pictures (to me more intrusive than a pat-down).

Far too extensive, complicated, and possibly different for each individual to define where one has an expected zone of privacy. When certifications (birth) and benefits (SS) with specific numbers along with privileges (driving, hunting, fishing, etc.) came about, it all went down hill.
Well again, I’m no legal expert but what I am wondering is if a distinction can be made between servers that share to public.
I realize that it would be impossible to keep public spaces “private” but to limit the ability to upload onto a server that shares data.
For example, I can log into my ring camera and see who is on my street or door, but that information is limited to my account. But ring cannot share that with anyone other than me, the account holder or police, etc.. uploading to a sharing server infringes on my right to privacy.
So for example, CBS could broadscast the game with faces onto TV. I can take pictures and put them in the yearbook or newspaper or on a wall.
But each individual cloud server connecting to the World Wide Web would be responsible for blurring out faces that do not consent to them showing their face regardless of being in public or private.
It would not prevent the collection of data, just make it harder to package and sell.
Anyhow. I’ll leave it to the legal minds to give you more realistic suggestions than taking on the world’s cloud servers. Thanks again for your efforts.

I need clarification. I’m not clear what servers you are referring to. Are you saying that it’s okay for Amazon to have the information from your ring doorbell camera (and also share/sell this to other private companies) but not the government?
Not sure how this is accomplished given that these devices operate via wireless internet and go through umpteen servers. People on the street are in the public already. (If you are in public, there is no privacy expectation — ditto for being at the ball game, etc.)
I have only one suggestion: don’t get these devices. If you need to document intruders to protect your valuable business or home when you’re away, use old-fashioned closed-circuit cameras, and/or use intercoms to ID who is at the door when you’re home but may not want to answer.

Depending on Sundance’ article, there are as many kudos as complaints. Some say “I’m tired of winning”. I’m not.
As President, Trump has to surround himself with staff, cabinet members, and make appointments to agencies. As seen in his first administration, he had as many enemies in those positions as allies. It is much better now, but not perfect. That is what many if not most of the complaints are about.
I myself have complained about AG Pam Bondi because of her involvement with the George Zimmerman case in Florida where I live. She has proven herself to be untrustworthy, and regarding the Epstein Files, a liar.
As the President said, Epstein is dead, (murdered, my words not his), and he can’t be prosecuted, but the files would reveal who of our elected official specifically has been compromised and susceptible to blackmail. We should know who these people are.
The evidence that was fought over in he Ghislaine Maxwell trial proves there is/are files that the DOJ doesn’t want released.

“AI” as a RAPID, Near Real Time database management tool (SOFTWARE) has existed and been in use for at least the past 30+ years.
In the 1990’s … I used to play Chess and War Games vs Built-In Machine Opponents on my HOME PC that had a “DEEP THINK” FUNCTIONS …. these FUNCTIONS were actually running simulations of possible outcomes of machine decisions as well as my likely responses. I could actually set “WAIT TIME” for the Machine Opponent Response … Based on that was based on the processing power of my PC.
There were even online APPs one could access in the 1990’s to “converse” with a Computer driven respondent … again wait times were based on Computer processor Speeds.
“AI” is highly complex software logic and the complex machine driven math it includes has existed for 20+ years as well. What has been lacking is the Processing Speed and associated Firmware to actually implement the software. That implementation allows for near real time evaluation of millions of “potential” decision path’s …. then “deciding” on a solution based upon HUMAN PROVIDED decision criteria metrics.
It is the “speed” of the response by AI Software that makes it seem “alive”.
