President Trump notes the financial motives behind Elon Musk’s opposition to the Big Beautiful Bill.
[Source]
Musk has previously said his opposition to the bill stems from the fiscal spending and aggregate, unsustainable national debt issue. However, as President Trump and NEC Director Kevin Hassett have noted, the debt issue is a combination of spending and growth. The economic goals of the administration are to grow the economy at a GDP rate larger than 3%, while simultaneously using the Office of Management and Budget to curtail spending allotments from congress.

But, but.. wait! I recall Musk saying he was opposed to ALL subsidies. When pressed he answered including EV, that he didn’t care about that and a product should stand on its merits.
that was “before”.
musk before: making billions selling ev’s at record rates globally, and of course made possible by enormous sums of subsidies…
musk now: tesla is officially under water and recovery may not actually happen. the radicals took aim and poured gasoline on his money making because of his role as dark maga and doge ninja. radicals already have plenty of reasons to go after musk….it was the point where he bought twitter, fired a bunch of mouth breathers and helped expose the censorship machine operating at the highest levels of government…imagine that…a billionaire who could not win over the left radicals on the area of free speech…of course, we understand the issue was never about free speech…it was using social media as a way to manufactured several narratives that were and continue to be false. wuhan, Russia Russia, election fraud, antifa, ngo funded money laundering operations, weaponized courts, ftc, sec, FBI, doj, and the list goes on.
the musk now is ironically “stateless”…that place where he has become an island…some of it deserved…most of it the unavoidable consequences of not going along with the radical left deep state.
but on the topic of bbb, I think he is saying out loud what a lot of people are also saying but without the big bullhorn that musk has. Spending trillions of dollars with a serious national security threat that is the national debt, seems like a breach of what we had expected from President Trump, even if it works out okay. We just did not have that serious impact with saving from doge. And so this bill looks like a certain kind of failure to actually downsize government and spending.
Sure, lets all get energetic about growing the economy…but the thing is we can actually do both…spend less federal dollars AND grow economy. Seems like a very risky move that has the potential to add more the debt and potentially drive the purchasing power of the dollar down….as well this WILL LEAD TO INFLATION…spending into debt always does create inflation….you just can’t avoid that reality.
so maybe lets just say, strike elons’ name out ..and replace his argument against the BBB spending. the argument is legit.
God Bless America
Giving about $100,000 to 40 million illegals has put a dent in the budget.
I saw this morning the bill has $$ for Ukraine. *spit*
Elon doesn’t give a crap about deficits or debt. It’s just the stated public reason.
I believe Musk is butt-hurt because so much of his effort, that we all praised, to successfully expose and address horrific government fraud, abuse and waste is all but ignored in the BBB.
Trump needs to come clean and explain why he backed away from following through on DOGE cuts. As a pragmatic compromise to pass BBB. They had, still have him by the short ones. Hopefully, once that bill passes, we’ll learn of his plan to return to his promise of eliminating, proven waste, fraud and abuse.
Even after we successfully grow our way out of the BBB expanded deficit do we really want all that waste and abuse to remain? C’mon, man!
The plan is to use rescission bills to cut out the DOGE waste. Per Senate rules, the rescissions/cuts cannot be done until after the initial funding bill is passed (BBB).
Timeline:
1) BBB
2) August – Rescision bills to cut DOGE waste
3) September – Budget bill
How is 3 different than 1? Bill #2?
Rescission Bill = 51 votes needed
Budget Bill = 60 votes
Cloture for all bills in the Senate is 60 votes. “Reconciliation” and “rescission” are treated separately from other bills with the “majority” cloture rule.
Thank you. We need to keep pounding this home so that everyone understands.
Hope so. That’d be great. Can you share your source of that information please. Including Trump’s articulation that those cuts are right around the corner.
I think this is incorrect. H Con Res 14 was passed in April as the “budget”:
“SECTION 1. Concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.
(a) Declaration.—The Congress determines and declares that prior concurrent resolutions on the budget are replaced as of fiscal year 2025 and that this concurrent resolution establishes the budget for fiscal year 2025 and sets forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.”
This provided the basis for “reconciliation” via H.R. 1, the OBBB Act.
The budget, with reconciliation, will serve as the top line for the 11 annual discretionary FY26 appropriations bills. As of today, only the MILCON/VA appropriations bill has passed the House (by convention known as the “blue slip process”, all appropriation bills originate in the house). Given history, the likelihood is most of the bills won’t pass by the start of FY26, requiring some sort of consolidated or omnibus act, probably after the start of the FY and a continuation act to avoid the so-called government “shutdown”.
Note that the President’s “discretionary” budget for FY26 was submitted to Congress on 2 May by OMB. This forms the basis for the congress authorizing and appropriations committees.
Sunrei was addressing the Senate side of the process, a different set of rules compared to the House.
One can lead a horse many times, sunrei…
Is this a indication of your political leaning,
“C’mon, man!”
My comments are a direct tell of my political leanings. Stop inventing nonsense. Is your using the same quote an indication of yours? How’s this then, get a clue, person!
Give Trump time. He hasn’t forgotten. He’s playing 3D chess. This is just part of the game.
Nope. It looks more like he thought he had President Trump set for bribery take down in subsidies in exchange for his data tools to expose the fraud, fraud he most likely was already well aware of before joined campaignand thought he made a deal with PDJT. Even IF President Trump gave impression a deal was happening he let Elon know he did not reach his marketing goal. President Trump played him while he was being played.
And won.
Now Elon is desperate. He did not deliver to his financiers the subsidies. Do not be surprised if Elon’s latest veiled threat he wrote X. is connected to undetectable as AI, footage and tapes of President Trump involved in Epstein files, or other. After all, he has been saying for quite sometime AI is singularly the most dangerous thing right now.
“So, so tempting.”
“But I will refrain for now
Part of it was that the federal district court’s injunction powers were only curtailed this week!
Get rid of filibuster and elected Senators.
Filibuster rule can only be changed by the Senate. Go through the COTUS amendment process to take care of the other issue.
Keep little Ellen kicked to the curb…. MEGA “Make Ellen Go Away”.
Not only does my locale charge a “road use” tax on EV owners because they don’t pay gasoline taxes, but now they’re implementing a “charge tax.” If you use a charging station while operating your EV, you’re going to start paying extra. Wasn’t the purpose of electric vehicles to ‘save the environment’ and ‘be more economical?’
Next:
battery disposal & recycling fee.
We pay a ridiculous “chump charge” every year when we register our hybrid Ford Maverick. It costs twice as much to get that truck legal every year than our gasoline only Chevy. This is in Jackson County TN. We still save enough on gasoline to make it worth it tho
Will POTUS implement most or all of DOGE’s Phase I $200 Billion in recommended cuts via rescission?
because the recissions are a give & take with Congress, it’s not likely we’ll get everything we want.
Ouch – that hurt.
And this tweet just makes me feel even less certain about there being a true/serious schism between Trump and Musk. As Trump points out, Musk knew about Trump’s strong position against the EV mandate from day one. He also knew that Trump never changed his mind or likely even softened it a tiny bit. It makes no sense to me that they’re now publicly “arguing” about something that they must have discussed many times in the course of the campaign and afterward. Given Trump’s personality, I don’t think he never misled Musk about subsidies such that Musk is publicly stomping his feet about it. Plus they both have a strong motive to continue burying the fake news via twitter and truth social.. Idk, I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist at all, but this “spat” doesn’t make logical sense to me.
Perhaps Musk isn’t so much upset with his long known to be coming EV cuts as much as he’s upset that those seem to be nearly the only cuts that actually made it into the BBB? More missiles for Ukraine for instance made the grade.
Trumps Pragmatism and Musk’s Visionary are oil and water at their cores. Get BBB passed and let’s hopefully see the potentially highest achieving two-man team in history reunited again around We the People.
I’m counting on the two of you, fellas! So much more winning ahead!
Superficially, this conflict between Trump and Musk doesn’t make sense. BBB is the primary item on Trump’s legislative agenda. It cannot and must not lose because Trump is a fighter and a winner. Musk knows this. Is this an emotional outburst because Musk is unstable? Really? Musk wants distance between himself and Trump. Musk wants to test his political influence.
Or maybe they want to combine their political influence. Trump supporters and those who like Musk obviously haven’t historically been the usual bedfellows — not at all.
GatewayPundit is FOR Elon over President Trump. TGP is standing by PDJT while feeding readers’ minds with opposite.
look at difference:
Musk replied to Trump’s harsh remark with surprising restraint, perhaps hoping Trump would eventually cool down.
“So tempting to escalate this,” he wrote X. “So, so tempting.”
“But I will refrain for now.”
So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now.

“Maybe We Should Have DOGE Take a Good, Hard, Look at This?” – Trump Unleashes on Elon Musk in Midnight
TGP does this all the time with all the Deep State Poster Children…….DeSantis, Bondi, Kashe, Cruz. Notice they only publish a small percentage of Secretary Rubio’s daily successes?
They have click bait headlines. I’m finished with TGP.
Elon Musk = “the richest man on Earth” …
Isn’t it amazing how “rich” one can become when one is supported by “the taxpayer” and “other peoples’ money” …
To paraphrase Ferris Bueller: “It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend (doing it) …”
I’m with Elon on this one.
