President Trump and his national security team held a meeting with NATO Sec.-Gen. Mark Rutte during the 2025 NATO Summit in the Hague, Netherlands, and took questions from the media.
Interestingly, NATO Secretary Mark Rutte emphasizes the new commitment from Canada repeatedly. As one of the worst offenders to adhere to their NATO obligations, and against the backdrop of tariffs and targeted trade negotiations, obviously Canada is trying to position themselves against the Trump economic agenda.
Secondly, the emphasis is again on the damage assessment from the U.S. bombing of the Iran nuclear facilities. This is critical for President Trump to break free of the intelligence community control over U.S. foreign policy expanded in the next outline. WATCH:

In looking past this administration, it is crucial that the CIA be broken from their new position as a “fourth branch” of the Federal government. President Trump has the power to do it by identifying the rogue operatives and cutting them off. Not by “firing” them but by publicly identifying them as being enemy players. Given his particular wish to avoid violence and bloodshed, he would probably be reluctant to do that. But it is one of his jobs as President.

I believe Trump knows this 5%and NATO are totally corrupt and this will never happen. Most likely he has plans to leave NATO during his term.
And even if any of them reach the new 5% goal, only 3.5% would be for their own “key defense” needs, meaning military equipment for their own militaries and funds to support their servicemembers. The other 1.5% would be for “cybersecurity, infrastructure or resilience-building goals”, which sounds like they could include many kinds of non-military funding as toward their 5% defense goal.
And don’t forget their support for Ukraine. That will be included in that 1.5% as well. And there will be Ukraine game playing as well with the “core” 3.5%, such as, if they transfer military equipment from their military to Ukraine, they will apply the cost of replacing that equipment to the 3.5%. It is all a big game. So on paper it may look like they met their 5% goal, but in reality their own ability to defend themselves may be no better than it is now.
Also, a few months ago I read that some NATO countries were trying to say that their spending to support Ukrainian refugees inside their countries (for welfare, healthcare, housing, etc.) should be counted toward their current 2% goals. So don’t be surprised if it turns out those expenditures are counted somewhere in the new 5%. It is all a game and their defense spending in most cases is likely to be no better than it is now.
Side note: Remember that Rutte was directly responsible for the years long attack on Dutch farmers and farming, large scale implementation of “Climate Change” policies, including carbon taxes, was hand picked by the ‘invisible’ powers behind the WEF to be the regional comptroller/czar for food control in Europe (including food sources like bugs), is a long time WEF puppet, and was placed in his current role at NATO for a purpose to exert influence towards an objective of his masters.
