I cannot give all the particulars to backstop my perspective, however, Vice President JD Vance has traditional training and perspective on leadership within massive organizations, enhanced by his military service. Essentially, ‘never compromise your leadership‘.
Vice President JD Vance would not publish the following message on social media, without previously approving the entire statement through President Donald Trump. If Vance did not discuss this with Trump, Vance would stay quiet. That said, here is the message from JD Vance:
“Look, I’m seeing this from the inside, and am admittedly biased towards our president (and my friend), but there’s a lot of crazy stuff on social media, so I wanted to address some things directly on the Iran issue:
First, POTUS has been amazingly consistent, over 10 years, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Over the last few months, he encouraged his foreign policy team to reach a deal with the Iranians to accomplish this goal. The president has made clear that Iran cannot have uranium enrichment. And he said repeatedly that this would happen one of two ways–the easy way or the “other” way.
Second, I’ve seen a lot of confusion over the issue of “civilian nuclear power” and “uranium enrichment.” These are distinct issues. I’ve yet to see a single good argument for why Iran was justified in violating its non-proliferation obligations. I’ve yet to see a single good pushback against the IAEA’s findings.
Meanwhile, the president has shown remarkable restraint in keeping our military’s focus on protecting our troops and protecting our citizens.
He may decide he needs to take further action to end Iranian enrichment. That decision ultimately belongs to the president. And of course, people are right to be worried about foreign entanglement after the last 25 years of idiotic foreign policy.
But I believe the president has earned some trust on this issue. And having seen this up close and personal, I can assure you that he is only interested in using the American military to accomplish the American people’s goals. Whatever he does, that is his focus.” (source)
Accepting what JD Vance is saying here (emphasis mine) the most Occam’s razor implication is that President Trump is going to authorize U.S. bunker busting bombs, the 30,000/lb deep penetrating bombs [GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP)] that only the USA has in the arsenal.
This approach takes the USA activity from “support”, to active operational engagement. Hence Vance saying “take further action,” and the following message from President Trump, “nobody does it better.”
My opinion:
I do not specifically know of a country or religion that has as its goals: “death to America”; “death to Israel”.
I do not specifically know of a religion, save Islam, that has as its goal: “death to the infidels”.
Christianity does not call for the death of “unbelievers”. In fact, it calls for repentance and forgiveness.
That’s my bottom line in this conflict. The folks who want to kill and/or rule over most of the civilized and uncivilized world want nuclear weapons to do so, and their goals are to kill everyone who does not comply with their religion. NO. They cannot have them. Hard line.

It’s important to differentiate between a MOAB and a “bunker-buster bomb” – they are two different things.
Our best bunker-buster is rated to penetrate 200 feet of earth, or 60 feet of reinforced concrete before exploding. Our only aircraft which can deploy it are the B-1, B-2 and B-52 bombers. MOABs can be deployed by turboprop C-130s.
The Massive Ordnance Airblast Bomb, or “Mother Of All Bombs” is a surface weapon; the MOAB is not a penetrator weapon and is primarily an air burst bomb intended for soft to medium surface targets covering extended areas and targets. AKA a “daisy cutter,” meant to take out troops and surface structure. Yes, it can wreck entrances, but doesn’t go deep to blow up the bunker.

The Israelis have a way, that would take longer, to get at Fordow that does NOT require using the bunker buster bombs. They would send commandos down there. I’d expect the Israelis to push this solution (may be underway now) while they are destroying all of Iran’s offensive capability elsewhere. This would provide cover to the US to NOT participate in any attack on Iran.
The real issue is who will the US talk to after the current regime is neutered? The people will have the one opportunity to assert their voice.

There comes a time when military action is warranted, and that doesn’t mean we are going to war. If we can’t support our allies, what good are we?
I’m with Trump and Company. The previous administrations have had us at constant war, forever. Let’s stop Groundhog Day and try to break the grip of failure.

God spared you in Butler,PA to be the most consequential President in a century-maybe ever. The decisions on your shoulders I would not want to be made by anyone else. You have many voices speaking to you Sir, but there is only ONE voice that matters. HIS voice.
I am your appointed servant in this land and am available for you but I do not try to get in your presence often because trust your instincts. No President in my lifetime has been in a position like yours. Not since Truman in 1945. I don’t reach out to persuade you. Only to encourage you.

Several things have converged over the last 24 hours for me.

Also the back drop of current State of Dept spokeswomen talking about Americans abroad in Middle East has everything to do with the warm Egyptian welcome by 6 years olds with cane rods that forced the wack-a-doodle Gaza gate crashers to seek protection of the Egyptian State and now need to be repatriated via Cairo.
It’s been a foregone conclusion if the U.S. is going to use bunker busting bombs to attack Iran’s nuclear capabilities. The timing was based on when the U.S. had air superiority over the skies of Iran. Air superiority is now available to the U.S. enter the U.S. Airforce to send in the MOAB.
YUGE DOGE cuts. Deport Milllions. No New Wars.
That’s What I voted for.
I’m more concerned about the severe thunderstorms that may hit my area tomorrow.

Sigh! ! Been through the same with Bush. Reading all I could re. Iraq, concluding that Bush et al were full of it, being accused of no longer being conservative, etc, that I did not know the inside information.
I support Trump’s domestic agenda, and paying a high price in my marriage for it, but he will screw it all up because of his stupidity on the foreign policy side.

It is naive to assume that if we drop the MOAB that the Mullahs are going to come out of hiding waving the white flag. Might set back their nuclear ambition but won’t result in regime change. They will fight to their last breath and there are millions of Iranians that support the regime.
To end their threat, you need regime change. Viet Nam, Iraq, Afghistan, etc etc tells us what comes next.
Some of us here are smart and know a few things most of us don’t know. So I’ll just comment on what I do know.
People from Iran in the USA usually call themselves Persian. They don’t want to be associated with that government. Most are Muslim so that always leads to a question in my mind. But whatever. Most people of Iran are just people and many manage to live a nice clean life — most cleaner than people right here in the USA when you look at how indulgent some people are. (I used to be indulgent myself… actually got bored with it and I’m now rather fond of having a boring life. It’s all “Dad jokes” from here on out.)
Iran’s leadership is dangerous and I don’t think that’s even debatable. (If you think so, let’s schedule one at a time and place of your choosing. I probably won’t show up.) If the leadership of Iran is replaced? I think I’d be OK with that… except for one thing.
Power vacuums. Oh boy do those things make a lot of sand fly about. I’m not seeing “a plan” here. What happens AFTER?

What is Trump’s definition of “surrender”?
I hope Trump limits his objective to eliminating Iran’s ability to produce nuclear weapons,
not to the more expansive goal of some, namely regime change in Iran.
How Iran is ruled is none of the U.S.’s business.
You know? With all of the “war things” going on, if Sundance is right about this, why aren’t we seeing “hey, pass that BBB so we can focus on this war over here!” It would be a great thing in my mind if it passed and then Trump yanked the rug right out from under the warmongers.

I don’t know what to think. How much longer was the status quo with Iran sustainable? Even without nukes Iran has been a constant troublemaker in the region. What’s the alternative when negotiations fail? Sanctions? Do nothing? Withdraw from the region and cede influence to Turkey and China and Russia? Its a tough decision.
