Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will be departing London, leaving Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to finalize the details with the Chinese trade delegation.
Apparently, the talks have been very productive according to Bessent and extended well beyond the previously scheduled timeline as they get very specific with the expectations and terms of compliance.
LONDON – U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Tuesday he is departing ongoing trade talks with China because he has to travel to Washington, D.C., to testify before Congress the next day.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will remain in London to continue the negotiations with Beijing, which are still underway after two lengthy days of talks, Bessent said.
Lutnick said earlier that the parties were “trying to finish” by Tuesday evening.
The talks have been “productive,” Bessent said as he left the ornate Lancaster House near Buckingham Palace where the discussions are taking place. The remaining negotiators “are continuing as needed with the Chinese delegation,” he added.
The two economic superpowers are meeting for the second time in as many months as they seek to sort out key differences during a volatile moment in their ongoing trade war.
The discussions are expected to center on hashing out an agreement to ease U.S. controls on exports to China in exchange for Beijing committing to free up its export of key minerals known as rare earths.
Disputes over rare earths and export controls emerged in the weeks after trade talks in Geneva, Switzerland, led both sides to temporarily pare back most of the tariffs on each others’ goods.
The Chinese delegation included Vice Premier He Lifeng, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and top trade negotiator Li Chenggang. (LINK)
Apparently, the pandas do not want face time with Peter Navarro. lol
While each of the trade Wolverines have teeth, Howard Lutnick is the enforcer. The prior issue of importance surrounded promises made in Geneva to Bessent and Greer on the continuation of mined and refined rare earth minerals from China needed in batteries.
The addition of Lutnick is akin to President Trump saying, go ahead and make the promise again – only this time Lutnick will be there to spell out the consequences of inaction.
President Trump did not send Peter Navarro, yet, because Beijing hates him too much. It would be impolite to expose the Pandas to their arch nemesis. However, if things don’t go well, we might just see Navarro on the upcoming trip to China with President Trump. lolol

Supporting the thesis that Elon is under the influence of Chy-nuh!
Just the fact that hes not under the influence of MAGA
His Teslas run on lithium-ion batteries. I don’t know if Musk is buying finished batteries from China, but the lithium itself is certainly coming from there.
Chile and Ecuador have a lot too. But I don’t know where Tesla sources it from.
Somehow, in the gathering of wolverines, a Muskrat got in. You know what we do to muskrat where I live? Skin them.
Musk is unstable.

I’m always amazed at the intricate dance that has to be done when dealing with the Chinese.
President Trump picked the perfect group to handle the forced economic reset back to sanity.
Chy-nuh is like the Democrats…you can’t trust a word they say.
The Wolverine-led talks seem to be having a VERY different tone from the first meeting between Biden’s weakling State Department under Blinken and China (Anchorage Alaska, March 2021)

“Apparently, the talks have been very productive according to Bessent and extended well beyond the previously scheduled timeline as they get very specific with the expectations and terms of compliance.”
Perhaps the MSM will do a little coverage of this, since they have rotten egg on their faces with the LA insurrection riots.
Nope.
I don’t think so.
IMO the MSM is incorrigible.
Maybe even the HRC word.
“Irredeemable”
Lutnick is presidential material. His story of courage and perseverance from when he was young is very interesting.
Hard pass, the AIPAC crowd has enough power and control over DC…….
China has far more control than Israel ever has or ever will. No one is afraid to bash Jews; everyone is afraid to bash Chinese-all-are-spies. $$$$ is why.
I do not believe this in the sense that China has ‘productive’ talks. These are delay tactics as they wait for fundamental changes in our end, whether a disease outbreak, a CIA false flag in which illegal alien mothers and children are murdered and this/these atrocities are blamed on Trump supporters, nuclear bomb detonated on Russia soil by ‘Ukraine’ etc.
No, they are just waiting by engaging in ‘constructive’ talks.
Ultimately, the Chinese will not concede a single thing, in fact, they are probably waiting for the blue areas to secede from ‘the king’, the fascist, authoritarian Trump and they will be requested by the blue leaders to provide military materiel and advisors to fight for the freedom fighters.
China cannot be trusted, so any deal must come with a giant hammer above China’s head in the form of a 400% tariff and immediate cancellation of visas for any and all Chinese nationals.
Sorry – but I just don’t trust China in any way, shape or form! If they make a deal, enforcement of penalties for breaking the contract must be swift and powerful – they’ve had their chances to negotiate!
never ever Do not trust communist Chinese,
Why exactly are we gong through this charade? Everyone here in the Treehouse ( Sundance included ) knows the Chinese will always put forward their Panda face, then proceed to Dragon actions. They’ll NEVER abide by any rules, it’s not in their DNA, we need to completely rid ourselves of doing business with them. Let the rest of the world buy their C H I T T Y products…….End of rant!
‘Third Chinese National Accused of Smuggling Biological Materials into Michigan’
Another Chinese researcher has been detained by federal agents for unlawfully shipping roundworms into the U.S. for work she planned to conduct at a University of Michigan laboratory.

The Chinese are very good at talking; they have a systemic problem with following through. It’s like getting a reservation for a car, and when you show up, no car. https://youtu.be/4T2GmGSNvaM?t=39
‘Productive’, my *ss
Anyone who thinks the Chinese will abide by any ‘agreement’ is whizzing into the wind.
They will violate any and all terms before the ink is dry on the paper.
I hope that the recent instances of Chinese Researcher smuggling in agro Bioterrorism materials becomes a point of these negotiations.. As it is said, once is a coincidence , twice is a Trend, and three time’s is an MO.
Make it clear that is another instance of smuggling materials such as these two is discovered:
1) All Chinese researcher and Student Visas will be canceled
2) all researchers and students will be expelled, and
3) the borders of the US will be closed to ALL chinese travel and Trade, PERIOD.
