CONTEXT for Los Angeles Riots: Approximately 12.3 million Mexicans live abroad, both legally and illegally, with 97% of them living and working in the United States, according to BBVA Research. Last year Mexicans living abroad sent $64.75 billion back home in remittances, largely from Texas and California to states in central and western Mexico.
According to data recently released, in April of this year remittances back to Mexico dropped 12.1%. The Mexico central bank said April saw 8.1% fewer transactions than a year earlier, that’s down to 12.4 million transactions. For Mexico this is a devastating outcome.
How dependent is the Mexican Govt on these remittances? Remittances sent home by Mexicans working outside the country surpassed petroleum revenues in 2015. {link} Oil Revenue in 2015 was 23.4 billion; remittances were $24.8 billion. Last year in 2024 remittances were $64.75 billion…. and in April of this year the remittances dropped by 12.1%.
If you don’t think there is a critical financial motive in this, think again.
CALIFORNIA – About 700 U.S. Marines were mobilized Monday to support the California National Guard to protect federal personnel and property in Los Angeles during protests there, officials said.
The mobilization of the Marines from their base in Twentynine Palms, California, is temporary, to give time for additional National Guard troops to arrive.
Earlier Monday, President Donald Trump said he would support arresting California Gov. Gavin Newsom for purportedly obstructing federal immigration enforcement actions in Los Angeles.
Trump’s comment came shortly before Newsom and state Attorney General Rob Bonta said they would sue Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for deploying National Guard troops to deal with protests over those enforcement actions.
The suit will ask a judge to rule that Trump’s federalization of the California National Guard was unlawful and to set aside the president’s order.

Around 1993 I worked for the post office in a small town (Elko) in northern NV. I would work the window a lot and there were these Mexicans that came in every week to buy a money order with their weeks pay and send it to Mexico. The constitution allows suspension of habeas corpus in cases of rebellion or invasion when the public safety is at risk. The case can be made that what is now happening in California is in fact a rebellion in support of an invasion.
But the constitution doesn’t say specifcally which branch has that authority. So the question is, can PDJT suspend hebeas corpus on his own authority without a vote of Congress?

As a Los Angeles resident, my impression is that these demonstrations are orchestrated by the DNC, purely for political purposes, because the DNC offers absolutely nothing else for “the base” to get excited about. My husband worked in the construction trades and we’ve met many decent and hard working Mexicans over his career.
Being the curious nerd that I am, I loved to talk to these guys from Mexico when given the opportunity at the summer company BBQ and things of this nature.
What the spouse and I were told by them over and over again was this: These Mexicans were not here to become Americans, to assimilate or get involved over here, they were here to work. They’d all pile into a cheap car, into a cheap apartment and live as lean as possible- we all know this.
What most don’t know is this: what many were doing was saving up their retirement money.
They’d work here for 20 years, if that, they’d start young, then they’d get into their late 30s or 40s or so and go back.
That pile of American dollars goes very far where they live.
What they were explaining to us is that they were working here for 20 years of their life then basically returning home, at fairly young ages to retire- because they could, AND they were hugely improving their lives..
So what the spouse and I would talk about following these conversations is that it takes us that live here some 40+ years of working and many cannot still even retire, and most of us won’t live high off the hog when we do, if we can- this is for sure.
BUT these Mexicans are only working for some 20 years or so here, then they go back there, quit the daily grind of ass busting labor and live a much higher standard of living..
Hubby and I used to say that apparently we’re getting quite screwed over here in our own country and that perhaps we should do be doing what the Mexicans are doing too.
We were quite shocked at how many Americans ARE doing just this and leaving the country in their 40s and 50s and moving down to South America after cashing out here to enjoy just how far their money takes them there- because it sure doesn’t go far here.
My point here is that Sundance has nicely explained the sheer scale of what is going on here with remittances, but what exactly these Mexicans are doing with all that money isn’t well understood by the average Americans here..
I think most envision a scene where the working Mexican here is sending money home to a family.. and that is happening.
BUT what is also happening is that a great many of them are also working here and then winding up retiring well off, they are living the American Dream IN MEXICO and then look at what our own lives look like here !!
We’re Americans living here and we can’t even achieve this !!
And Sundance has explained how the US subsidizes everything sold in other countries. Lemons and other such cost 1/10th in other countries what US pays. We pay for theirs and ours. The multinationals are going to get their money from somewhere and we are it.
We are being taxed to provide schooling for all these illegals. Someone figure it could be 10-15 Trillion we’ve paid to enroll and educate their kids in our schools since they’ve been invading decades ago.
Due to price undercutting they’ve almost eliminated Americans in the construction trade, a trade which was once a medium to high skilled job, and was a well paying family-supporting job.
Their families are often with them, dropping Anchor babies and signing the whole family up for welfare; no wonder they can afford to send monies back to Mexico.
Exactly! I remember back when I was in high school in the 80’s, Americans did do all the construction work, at least in the midwest. I also remember being on the old msnbc forums, back when GWB was president and found out how bad illegal immigration was and it’s been a top issue since. I remember a couple posters saying how construction companies started to higher illegals so the ones that hired Americans couldn’t compete and so it went that way. These were jobs Americans did.

You know it dawned on me that a less than lethal way to resolve some/much/ eventually all of this would be teams with big game sedation from elevated positions rifles firing high velocity Ketamine darts at the worst offenders.
They could be easily bagged, tagged (microchip implants) and rounded up for Deportation or Hard Labor. They all like drugs and I’m sure it wouldn’t be their first barndance with “Special K”.
The only problem I see is those rifles are usually single shot.. if there is a C02 repeater out there, or a bunch of them, rather, then we would be in business..
