McCaul notes he is happy for the House to receive a sanction package against Russia from Lindsey Graham that will likely be voted on in the Senate tomorrow. Last week the Senate met with Ukraine officials in a closed-door session, where the after-activity review was never outlined by media. DC is pretending the meeting never took place.
After discussing his advocacy for enhanced U.S. conflict against Russia, the Texas republican notes he has just spent 3-days in a strategy session with the leadership of Israel, specifically Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the topic of Iran. But there is a terrible alteration here. This man McCaul was in Israel about two weeks ago, not just now. There is zero relations between his views on Europe and this meeting that he had. The subject was not discussed. Israel is not interested in this conflict. This war in Europe is bad for Israel for more than one reason. It makes the Iran/Russia alliance stronger and it divert Western munitions towards Ukraine that may be needed for the war in the Middle East. What we do know is that when the people protested that the West and President Obama did not speak up about the Iranian Green Movement 2009 protests and publicly shame their leaders. You are absolutely right with one exception. If it was like Iraq Israel would have destroyed it long ago.
Their site in Fordow is 260-330 feet deep in rocks. Their site in Nantaz is less deep but still deep. Only the Massive Ordinance Penetrators MOP 30,000lb is capable of reaching so deep, probably a couple or three. They are carried by the B-2 bombers. Israel doesn’t have this capability and munition. For Israel to do a successful attack it will need to drop something like 50 of the bunker buster bombs that it does have on the same spots.
Or it will need to drop Special Forces on the ground. Therefore this operation would be super high risk and complex and therefore Israel has waited so long. It needs the US also to counter a massive retaliation.
In any case Israel is waiting for Trump to make his own decision.

Pat, I am Israeli. Israel is neutral on this war. On one hand Ukraine has a history of antisemitism and pogroms against Jews and what you said. On the other hand Russia is traditionally the arms source and consultants of our enemies.
I don’t know the level of Nazism in Ukraine in present time but I have someone close in my family who opened an international computer services company in Ukraine (before the war) and he is telling me that they changed and he didn’t see any antisemitism in his operations in Kiev.

These are two entirely different situations. Those who fail to recognize that distinction are either rationalizing personal biases or lack the capacity to grasp nuance.

There is no agreement to be made. No diplomatic outcome to be had. Only one variable matters: does Iran possess weapons-grade uranium? If so, strike immediately—without hesitation. If not, monitor closely.

Ukraine has lost the war THEY instigated with the help of the CIA and NATO. They thought that Ukraine could defeat a run-down Russian army, depose Putin, and break the Russian Federation into its constituent republics. To that end, they armed Ukraine to the hilt, stationed NATO military advisors inside Ukraine to support advanced NATO weapons and gather intelligence, and supported Ukraine’s ethnic cleansing of Russian-speaking oblasts in Eastern Ukraine. Ultimately, they wanted to surround Russia with NATO bases in all the former Soviet republics, including the largest, Ukraine.
The Russians have a long memory of prior invasions from the West, the most notable being WW2, in which the Soviet Union lost 24 million people. They remember that and swore, never again. We only lost 400,000 in WW2, and now our youth cannot even tell you who fought who.
NATO propaganda painted the conflict as Putin invading poor, little Ukraine for no reason except to recreate the Soviet empire and threaten the whole of Europe with the same fate. Obviously, it had nothing to do with resource deficient Europe eying the vast resources of Russia and Ukraine. The Russians see it as an existential threat on the scale of Napoleon’s invasion, the Crimean war, and WW2.
It turns out that Russia was not so weak as NATO thought. While the US had invested in stealth fighters and bombers and naval battlegroups, the Russians had invested in offensive and defensive missile technology. Russian has Kinzhal (air-launched) and Iskander (ground-launched) hypersonic missiles. They can’t be intercepted, and the US Patriot missile systems have proven that (despite Ukrainian/NATO propaganda that the WSJ swallowed hook. line and sinker).
Russia still had a massive number of artillery pieces left over from the Soviet era, and the ammunition to sustain a 5:1 to 10:1 advantage over the Ukrainians. It still had the industrial base to produce hundreds of thousands on shells every year. NATO is struggling to produce 10% of that number and is desperately trying to rebuild its own stocks, let alone supply Ukraine. The result of this mismatch is obvious. In a ground war, artillery inflicts 80% of the casualties. Ukraine is running out of men and is even considering conscripting men over 60 and under 23. Russia has no problem recruiting volunteers.
Both sides employ drones. In many ways, this war could be called the drone war. Drones see everything and can hit anything within 10km of the front lines. Fiber optic cables make FPV drones impervious to electronic defenses. The result is both sides dig into defensive positions. Tanks and APCs cannot be formed into attacking formations because drones will see and destroy them beforehand. Unlike WW2, where vast armies of tanks fought on the steppes of Russia, this war is a static war of attrition like WW1. And that suits Russia just fine because one of its initial objectives was to destroy Ukraine’s military. Do that, and the territory is there for the taking. Medvedev has already said that “those who do not want to acknowledge the realities of war in negotiations will receive new realities on the ground.”
The best we can hope for is that the US recognizes that Russia has won and negotiate a deal that recognizes Russia’s vital interests and stops the bleeding of men, money and munitions. Unfortunately, we have the likes of McCaul and Graham who want an unwinnable war to continue to the last Ukrainian. Zelensky is trying to keep us in the war with stunts like attacking Russia’s nuclear bomber bases in Siberia and the Arctic Circle. The schizophrenic Europeans want to keep Ukraine fighting while simultaneously importing cheap Russian oil and gas to keep their sputtering Green economies alive.
