First the cliff notes version: There’s an important detail to remember. People are laughing at the long-range Russian bombers being left out in the open, vulnerable to attack. However, the bomber visibility is required as part of several nuclear agreements between the USA and Russia (SALT and START). Our U.S. long range nuclear capable bombers, covered under the same agreements, are also visible.
Ukraine President Zelenskyy is playing with fire by targeting them, which also explains why Zelenskyy never told President Trump in advance.
The U.S and NATO have provided the means. However, #1) did Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy just exploit a vulnerability by targeting Russian long-range nuclear capable bombers? and #2) was the CIA and NATO intelligence community a willfully blind participant knowing they would benefit?
Both the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT) and the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), call for U.S. and Russian long range nuclear capable bombers to remain “visible and observable by national technical means of verification.” That open visibility creates a mutual vulnerability as well as a method of surveillance and verification for both the USA and Russian Federation.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and by extension his NATO enablers, just exploited that SALT/START vulnerability and used drones to attack Russian bombers covered by USA-Russia treaties. There are reports (and videos) now surfacing from inside Russia showing the Russian Federation moving strategic long-range mobile missile launchers into position for a counterattack against Ukraine.
This situation is obviously very fluid and let us all hope that President Trump and President Putin are in communication about this escalation as created by Zelenskyy and his enablers, even if -and probably especially if- our own intelligence agencies are part of the enabling.
Think about the ramifications of NATO enabled Ukraine targeting major Russian military assets which are vulnerable only because they are part of a previously agreed U.S-Russia negotiation to remain vulnerable. In essence, an argument can be made by Russia that NATO -and by extension us- have targeted nuclear capable missile systems, and those systems were protected by the SALT/START treaties. How would we respond if an adversary launched a strike against our strategic long-range nuclear capable bombers in the USA?
I cannot imagine how President Trump would address a phone call with President Putin when the leader of the Russian Federation confronts him with the reality that it was NATO and USA military support, actual hardware and technical capability, that has provided Ukraine with the ability to target strategic nuclear weapons.
If President Trump did not know of the strike target in advance, which is the element being reported and confirmed by multiple media outlets, this would indeed put Trump in a very difficult position. That reality is likely the motive for Ukraine never to have informed the White House.
Keep in mind the SALT/START treaties are between the USA and Russia only, not necessarily including NATO or European countries. However, the U.S. govt has publicly and openly been sending military hardware and technical resources into Ukraine.
If President Trump or his National Security Council were made aware that Ukraine was going to strike at nuclear capable targets covered by strategic defense agreements, I strongly doubt President Trump, or any member of his administration would have approved or consented to any participation or support. This is just too strong a provocation to enlarge the conflict and draw NATO into it even deeper.
What happens next is unknown.
President Barack Obama negotiated New START, a successor to President Ronald Reagan’s 1994 START I Treaty. START I cut long-range, or strategic, nuclear arsenals by 30-40 percent. New START slashed accountable deployed strategic arms by another three-quarters. In 2021, Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin extended New START until next February 2026.

Well it depends if you believe that Trump did not know about the attack. He did say that “very bad things can happen” didn’t he. The attack had to be done with the assistance of U.S. targeting systems and intelligence assets. Yes, all of the messaging is stating that Trump did not know. I for one do not believe that.

The Russians recently pointed out that “Z,” lacking real military strength to resist, is trying very hard to play the media. He is trying to do showy, disruptive things and to grab as much media attention for them as he possibly can. Zelensky et al. undermined an important treaty between the U.S. and Russia. One designed to protect the entire world. That is an adverse, i.e. enemy, act against both countries.
There are not necessarily only “two sides” in any issue.

Lindsey had to know that this attack by Ukraine, if backed by USA Senate, was breaking a treaty. Here’s my projection of a path to a major war on multiple fronts:
1. Israel attacks Iran’s nuke facilities, something which should have been done LONG ago, because of the recent UN report on the incredibly suspicious increase in just a few months of their inventory of highly enriched uranium and the quick breakout capability to nukes that gives them. That turns the Middle East into a total quagmire in which the US WOULD get involved, even with Trump in charge. Oil prices will skyrocket.
2. Sky rocketing oil prices will greatly help Russia financially and their refusal to end the Ukrainian conflict will then pay off as they get even more aggressive there, taking advantage of the above.
3. The CCP has recently been getting much more aggressive in their military taunts against Taiwan. Their existing economic problems will be greatly exacerbated by high oil prices and as a patriotic diversion they’ll invade Taiwan.
4. North Korea is a tool of BOTH Russia AND China. They might cause problems in an increasingly CCP compromised South Korea.
5. Our open border allowed invaders might cause “behind the lines” problems here.
US forces are designed to fight a 2-front war. It will be a a “come as you are” war because of the lead time to produce modern weapons. Our conventional weapon inventories have already been somewhat depleted by supplying Ukraine, defense of Israel from Iranian attacks, and actions against the Houthis in Yemen. A better time for the above sequence would be hard to come by.

U235 gun type weapons are so foolproof they don’t even need to be tested. The Hiroshima bomb design wasn’t tested before it was dropped. You might recall a week ago, Chancellor Merz declared that Germany gave Ukraine “permission” to carry out long-range strikes into Russia. Smooth move, Friedrich. He is, apparently, unaware that in so-doing he automatically gave Russia permission to strike deep into Germany as well, which Russia has not yet done. Instead, it replied with missile strikes against Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyiv, little more than a routine smack-back, but perhaps an ominous prelude to worse in the offing.
You understand that things are escalating steeply now in this conflict. A lot high ranking officials in Russia have lost patience with Mr. Putin’s slow-moving, on-the-ground grind and refusal so far to inflict more serious damage on the Ukrainian capital, which he could turn into an ashtray on a half-hour’s notice, if required. You might suppose he has sought strategically to avoid the total destruction of this cousin-country so that it would not be a failed state in the aftermath of war. It would be to Russia’s advantage if Ukraine could function as a neutralized, sovereign, self-supporting buffer state rather than an ungovernable basket-case / money pit region harboring non-state terrorists of various stripes. The former outcome is surely still preferable to the latter, despite the most recent provocations.
All of this puts Mr. Trump in a bind. His efforts to negotiate peace are on-the-rocks for now, as is his (America’s) ability to control the maniac globalist warmongers of NATO. Many in the US, and Mr. Trump himself, make noises about backing off the big mess altogether and dissociating from a NATO alliance that has lost its purpose and meaning, becoming, in fact, a menace to our interests.

It’s why the only answer is for Trump to announce that the U.S. no longer backs Ukraine in the war. Use our treaties with Russia as the reason. The war won’t last long after that; the EU is all talk. Why? Because all Russia has to do is cut off oil and gas.
Trump merely has to pull the power cord. If he cuts off the money and the arms, and shuts down access to “Starlink,” this entire Ukranian operation will sputter to a stop very quickly.
Then he wouldn’t get his peace deal.

Serious questions but some I never saw answered in any detail enough for my study which is probably my own fault for not searching more, but why is Russia being targeted in the first place? Why are they the designated enemy? Who wants them contained and controlled? I understand their incursion and claiming UKR territory but that has been explained and Russia does have some real reasons for what they did. Why the escalation? Why the threat of WW3? What does the EU and UKR want Russia to do to stop the conflict? Why is America even getting one foot into this conflict besides their NATO membership, which can be negated apparently. Russia is being targeted and world war is being threatened and waged against them. Why? Why isn’t this being settled instead of being pushed into even higher levels of war? Who benefits the most?

I know someone who bases his blame of Russia for the Ukraine war on what he calls Russian Imperialism.
Many people say that Russia today is being mistakenly equated with with the old Soviet Union, which is true to some degree, but as you make note of it goes back much farther, and it’s somewhat short-sighted to see this conflict in terms of what is happening with NATO today.
