Seems to me Danielle Smith should be Canada’s Prime Minister. Not because she is a patriot which I believe she is. No, because she is an economic nationalist trying to get Ottawa in line to enable Alberta and the rest of the country to exploit the vast natural resources it possesses. A prosperous Canada is good for Canadians and good for the USA. It is insane that Alberta has almost as much oil and gas as Saudi Arabia and somehow Canada things its economic future should be based on “green” energy.
As for “looking to head elsewhere” if I still lived in Canada I’d be hard pressed not to be moving to Alberta if moving to the U.S. wasn’t in the cards. I’ve lived in the Canadian Rockies as well as outside Edmonton and south of Lethbridge (on the way to Waterton) and have yet to meet an Albertan who wasn’t down-to-earth and the kind of people Treepers would like. Whatever happens to Canada, Alberta seems to have a bright future.

As for not being from the East, after her speech yesterday I think the balance of power is going to shift to the West. Alberta is as good as gone along with their oil, gas and other natural resources if it doesn’t.
