Within the Executive Order modifying the April 2nd global reciprocal tariffs [SEE HERE] section #4, we note a massive increase in the duty fees for mailed products from China formerly shipped under ‘de minimis’ rules.
REMINDER: The de minimis loophole comes from back in the 1930s. The idea back then was, say you went on a vacation to Paris, you shouldn’t have to file customs paperwork or pay taxes if you decided to ship some little Eiffel Tower statues to your friends back home.
Congress in 2015 then raised the de minimis threshold from $200 to $800. However, the e-commerce world exploded, and Chinese companies began using the de minimis loophole to ship cheap goods (ex. Temu and Shein) into the USA direct to consumers without paying any customs duty.
On April 2nd, as part of the global trade reset and tariff structure, President Trump revoked authorization for Chinese goods to transfer to the USA using the de minimis rule. The de minimis exemption was cancelled for all products coming out of China. The rule change only targeted China and Chinese shippers. No one else. [XO HERE]
Yesterday, as part of the modification to Executive Order #14257, President Trump has increased the baseline tariff for product mailed from China [de minimis tariff] from 30 90 percent to 120%.
Mailed products from China now face a 120% tariff. Additionally, minimum tariff amounts increased from $75 to $100 effective May 1st, and from $150 to $2oo effective June 1st. [See Section #4]
Example: If you order a $20 shirt from China effective June 1st, you will pay $220. $20 for the shirt, and $200 minimum tariff.
There is no way Chinese E-Commerce can survive this level of tariff/duty fees.
♦ SUBVERSION – The only way for the Chinese e-commerce to maneuver this, would be to extend the delivery times and transship through alternate mail and distribution centers, in other countries. Example, mail your $20 shirt to (Vietnam or Mexico or Canada) and have a distribution center then repackage and mail it to the USA. Or, far less likely, the Chinese e-commerce company can set up manufacturing centers in the 3rd party country (Vietnam, or Mexico or Canada) and make it there, not in China (not very likely at all).
President Trump is setting up bilateral free trade agreements (FTAs) with each of the nations that China might attempt to use as a transshipping hub. Within those pending FTAs, there will certainly be no transshipping allowed, and trade sanctions in the FTAs as punitive punishment if they did it.
Keep watching this mail-order pressure point, because it’s likely to be more substantive -albeit less visible- than the manufacturing tariffs applied toward China directly.

does that include mail order brides?
No, unless she’s made of life-like rubber.
In D.C. those are mail order bribes.

You’ll pay much more than $200 on a $20 china mail order bride! 🙂

wabvn: Divorce not included.
That’s $20 for the bride, $200 for the import tariff.
You won’t care after you hear the amount of the Chinese “bride price.”
Russians mail order brides are better. I prefer a good Christian woman! 😛
only the extremely minimal ones
Yes
Can you prove I paid for my mail order bride? For there to be a tariff you must first prove there was a transaction. Asking for a friend
Actually that was not a response to deadleo.
I was in the process of editing, when someone replies to a comment the editing feature becomes disabled.
So I had to add my edit addition to my original post.
I think if you have to worry about the cost of a tariff on a woman, you cannot afford one in the first place.
I had come across some executive matchmaker services for Russian and Philipino women about 25 years ago.
I have forgotten what publication they were advertised in.
Adam says to God, “I’d like a woman to do all the housework, do the dishes, and wash the clothes, have kids, and maintain a professional job.”
God says to Adam, “Oh, that’ll cost you an arm and a leg.”

I heard that before, but thanks again. I have never had a memory for remembering jokes.

Those days are gone. Now sometimes I will go down to the basement or garage, come back and realize I did not get what I went there for.
Welcome to Club Senility!
Thanks, but I prefer to characterize them as “senior moments”.
Not quite dementia or “Covid brain”.
Apparently, this happens to everyone over a “certain age.” A friend told me when someone asks her a question, her answer is “when do you have to know?” Eventually you will remember but it may be too late.

That is one I will have to [try to] remember & use!
Me, too!
You’re doing better than Biden. When he went to the basement, he didn’t even have a clue where he was!

Been there!
“Mailed products from China now face a 120% tariff. Additionally, minimum tariff amounts increased from $75 to $100 effective May 1st, and from $150 to $2oo effective June 1st.”
Until I read about it here, I could not understand how those products sold on eBay, etc. could be sold and shipped here for next to nothing.
When it costs me $10-12 to send a small parcel to the next county or across the state. NY is not even that large a state, comparatively speaking.
So we are subsidizing the flow of imported junk into this country.
I am not rolling in dough, but I bought an American made product for $950 instead of a Chinese import for $350 about 18 months ago.
https://zenpergolas.com/
All done on purpose to destroy our nation “suck it up, foreign takeover of all manufacturing is inevitable”
Also sounds similar to the “inevitable” takeover of American citizenry by foreign infiltration.
Both loss of jobs & manufacturing & illegal immigration were only “inevitable” because policies deliberately encouraged them.
The US postal system also subsidizes China Shipping. A china vendor pays less to ship a package across the globe than you do to send the same package within your own town. So wrong.
President Trump has this whole situation gamed out. Brilliant!
For Trump, and the rest of us, this is not a game.
“There are trillions at stake…….”
Another billionaire apparently thinks so as well.
“…China has been isolated as a bad actor and every American company is immediately moving their supply chains out of China back to the U.S. or to trading partners of the U.S. who are likely to make favorable tariff deals with the U.S. Time is not China’s friend.
As more time goes by, more companies find other and better alternative suppliers outside of China. So China is incentivized to come to the table soon and to be reasonable in their negotiations.
The countries that showed up first and offered zero tariffs will now be rewarded with more business, motivating them to complete their deals with us promptly. All of the above was accomplished with only a few days of market turbulence….”

China has been a pariah to the entire world. It’s about time they were treated like one.
He has exposed China to the world. At the end of this, China will have lost so much revenue to other countries that it may even collapse the regime. No one will want to hold hands and do business with them. They will become isolated quickly, so they really have no choice but to come to the table. I guess they could unleash another pandemic on the world, but most now know they started COVID. Doing it again would ruin any standing they would still have on the world stage.
If they decide to be reasonable, the challenge will be getting them to the table without them “losing face”. Trump has said he will be gracious.
They didn’t start Covid alone
Beyond MAGA, I believe that VSGPDJT is on a mission to Make China Broke Again. The CCP cheats, steals, lies, destroys, bribes, controls, manipulates, and oppresses.
I feel very sorry for the Chinese people but they will never be able to crush their communist oppressors without some help from a MAGA country and a VSG.
The rest of the world looked the other way while they made $$$$ off of Chinese slaves.
They decided that they wanted to go to war with a WARRIOR!! Along with pretty much the whole world they tried to take down our LION. They are finding out what happens when you fail!
it doesn’t mean they won’t try again!
And we certainly didn’t need to become a “service economy”. How’d that work out? Record breaking homelessness, drug addiction, broken families, dilapidated buildings, and so and so on!
What enrichment in so cal now looks like. Just following the emperors orders….
No doubt. All part of the NWO’s plan for our destruction.
Someone throw us a lifeline! We’re drowning in “polite society!”
Grew up in a house with no lock on the front door. One of the adjustments I had to make when going off to college was to remember to take the keys out of the ignition when leaving my car in the student parking lot.
The challenge is that those crafty Chinese will try to find a work around:
1) Chinese national sets up a US business:
2) This business imports 1000 t-shirts from China;
3) Avoids de-minimus tariff;
4) Pays regular tariff (which is still a lot but not getting crushed per t-shirt).
5) Sells one t-shirt at a time on e-commerce platforms;
5) Profit! (although less because of the other tariffs)
We will have to be crafty as well. And diligent. Until China trades like a first world nation.
That’ll never happen, they been around, what,2000+ years and they are still living like sardines and have slavery basicly, how old a nation/dynasty etc are doesnt mean they will ever really evolve
That’s essentially how the bicycle business works, though the US businesses aren’t Chinese. So today you could buy a Chinese wheelset for $800 or get the same from a US importer for $3,000. Even at $1,600 the direct from China wheels might be a better deal.
Then there’s components, typically made in Taiwan and sold for much more in the US compared to Europe. I guess these won’t be affected so much. The big two (SRAM and Shimano) already have cut off the Euro route by threatening to blacklist any Euro retailer selling to US customers.
As a cyclist, I would not trust any wheelsets or frames that were make in china.
Ohio Cyclist: Back in the 1970s and before, the French and Italians dominated, along with Raleigh (British) and Schwinn. Earlier in the 1900s, there was also Humber and Enfield–old line British companies. Enfield was the same brand as Enfield Rifles. Companies such as Enfield and BH (Bestigui-Hermanos Brothers) used to make firearms. I still have my late father’s Enfield 3-speed, circa late 1940s or early 1950s, with Sturmey-Archer gears.
Today, I ride Scott, BH and Pivot. My best wheel sets are Reynolds carbon with Chris King hubs. I have always preferred European tubes and tires (Continental, etc.) These days, you have to be vigilant and read labels to know the country of origin for parts. Taiwan and the PRC dominate. Shimano was always the outlier, being Japanese, although they probably outsource, too, although I have not been in the market for any Shimano products for some time.
They think that doing this makes them look strong. It doesn’t, it makes them look weak and foolish. The same can be said of Canada that appears to be owned by the Chinese Cartels
Importing anything from China would trigger the tariffs, so that business would be a nonstarter
China is already trying to establish their own coalition. Too little too late as there is already a queue for countries to negotiate new direct fair trade agreements with the US having the preferred consumer market.:

BRICS better take heed of PDJT’s warnings. It’s no time to piss off the boss!
Yes indeed MC! PDJT is laser focused on the goal. Absolutely no time to piss him off and they would do so at their own peril as POTUS and the US consumer market has the leverage here!
I worry for his safety, cornered rats and all
Me too. I’m fine if he never goes on a foreign trip, particularly to 5-eyes-UK! They aren’t his friend!!
Yank their visas and deport them back to Chyna!
clever thing he could do is give a bridge to some companies that were simply only profitable by using the china loopholes…
or they only existed thru subversion via china…
Hopefully this is happening, now’s the time

I like the fact that Tulsi does not spend all day getting ready for her nightly appearance on Fox.
“it’s likely to be more substantive -albeit less visible- than the manufacturing tariffs applied toward China directly.”
That is very important, because there are a lot of spare parts that we need and use on a regular basis that are currently only available from China.
Such as thermocouple sensors for natural gas ovens, water heaters and boilers.
The quality is not what it used to be, according to our boiler repair company.
The technicians routinely replace that part when they are out on a service call, even if it is working fine when they are there.
They do not want to burden the customer with a $150 service call for a $15 part, because the thermocouples do not last like they used to.
That puts a kink in their one belt / one road.
China will just blackmarket through EU, Malaysia, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand , Indonesia, maybe even Brunei, no problem
Bye bye Alibaba.
Too ta loo Temu…
Thanks SD for the deep-dive into an international trade factor which eludes many (me, for one). Very much appreciated.
The $64,000 question is what will Chyna do next? And will 47 allow Tim Apple to have a special wavier to reduce the cost of importing Apple products from Chyna?
Article: “Apple airlifts 600 tons of iPhones from India ‘to beat’ Trump tariffs, sources say”
[begs the question, who are the sources?]
FTA: NEW DELHI, April 10 (Reuters) – Tech giant Apple chartered cargo flights to ferry 600 tons of iPhones, or as many as 1.5 million, to the United States from India, after it stepped up production there in an effort to beat President Donald Trump’s tariffs, sources told Reuters.
The details of the push provide an insight into the U.S. smartphone company’s private strategy to navigate around the Trump tariffs and build up inventory of its popular iPhones in the United States, one of its biggest markets.

January 2023, Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) sent a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin expressing concerns about Chinese-linked companies purchasing U.S. Private Schools with Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs
Lloyd Austin did nothing about it… Can Pete Hegseth give us an update?
• China stated them purchasing these US military academies were just a “research project” that blew off course, & they express their “deepest regret.”
• These acquisitions could be a part of the CCP’s Belt and Road infrastructure and global influence initiative in the American education sector.
• The New York Military Academy, Donald Trumps forms alma mater, is owned by the Research Center on Natural Conservation, backed by a Chinese-based Fang Holdings Ltd. which has an Army JROTC program and an entire promotional webpage in Chinese!!!
• Florida Preparatory Academy, in Melbourne, Fla., has an Air Force JROTC program and was purchased in 2017 by Newopen USA, a subsidiary of the Chongqing, China-based Newopen Group.

‘Cutesy names’ for these Chinese Companies who are invading our Country.
I think they are already doing so.
Almost every single Democrat in the House of Representatives recently voted against a bill to require proof of U.S. citizenship before registering to vote in federal elections.
Let that sink in
Trump hear our prayer.
Wrong thread.
I believe the bribery of our government is a key part of the China problem, sorry
New text message reveals Hunter Biden proposed meeting for dad, uncle and Chinese exec in NYC

So what? Many might not see this important revealing of how truly anti-American D’s really are if Seth didn’t post it on the “wrong thread”.
Good we dont want their crappy stuff anyway.
Exactly. With a little bit of research it’s easy to find things that are not made in China and I’ll bet it’s going to get ever easier.
I sure hope we can figure out how to make the fabric that goes into a T-Shirt you cannot see through.
Isn’t that the truth? I want to wear casual lounge pants around the house but the fabric is so thin that I don’t dare do anything more strenuous than sit in them.
Maybe we should all think twice before going to a Chinese restaurant or take out place.
Who knows what they’ll be flavoring their food with.
A local Chinese plance here has a category on their menu: Low Cat Specialties.
Um…. Can I get Cat Free instead?
Well, it’s probably more of a concern that 90% of pharmaceuticals are supplied by our “sworn enemy”. Who sets up this kind of situation? Prosecute Big Pharma.
Good point.
Good! Knock Temu and Shein out of business. No one needs their cheap, toxic clothing. Most of the customers probably have no clue these are Chinese sweat shops. They see ads on Tiktok and think this is a harmless, trendy brand.
I understand all the economic impacts of resetting our global trade balances and how economics are a national defense issue. My question is, in the case of Communist China, is there a deeper motive? Are we really looking for regime change?
There are too many Chinese people who exist in their version of the middle- and upper-middle class due to the unfair trade situation for this not to have severe consequences. When their quality of life is threatened and/or destroyed, who will they blame? Us, or Xi?
Who cares who they blame? I want their entire country to collapse and for their economy to go into a complete freefall. I’m not worried at all about what effect that has inside the country. Not my problem. I’m worried about our country. Does China care about us when they lie, cheat, and steal? What about when they flood the market and knock all of our industries out of business? Are they worried about the lives of our middle class that they’ve destroyed?
You’re mistakenly assuming that the communists will allow the country to collapse and they will cede power peaceably.
Just the opposite. I have no expectation that they will cede power or that it’s peaceful. In reality, I know they’ll transition from one tyrant to the next, but the freefall will destabilize them considerably. That’s the type of action we need to be taking…not this nonsense about trying to negotiate a “deal” with them. One that they won’t abide by anyway.
I’ll take a deal with teeth and a president determined to hold them to it over ChiCom leadership thinking this would be a good time to move on Taiwan to focus their people on something besides their internal problems. Its a classic move straight out of the tyrant playbook. Just ask the little rocket man to their south.
Sounds good on paper, but they won’t honor it. Mark my words. And then once President Trump is out, they know they’ll be able to do whatever they want. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
They’ve never once kept their word on anything, but this time will be different (/sarc).
They’ll simply outlast us.
Cornered rats may launch WW3.
I’ve noticed that President Trump mentions “China” as the target in his tariff applications.
While at the same time speaks of Xi as someone he knows well and has respect for.
He separates the two, never conflating them as one.
A small but significant point I think…
“Build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across.”
~Sun Tzu~
I agree, this is where I think Trump is brilliant …we used to call compartmentalization, and in my decades of observation the truly successful leaders, businessmen, etc. had that ability. (And, sad to say the men seemed far more adapt at it). First time I really was aware of this was when serving on a Board of Directors as the only female. The men could have heated discussions about issues while in the Board room and then go out for a drink afterwards. And, they could go home and get a perfectly good night sleep, leaving the issues in the Board room.
I had previously worked with an all-female Board and, oh my, the hurt feelings, the “ sides that were taken”, even tears at times over silly things and harboring over it forever, Over the years, females in positions of power have generally toughened up in that regard, but Trump is definitely the role model, IMO.
I have always thought of it this way, Teagen, as a general observation from high school onward.
With men it’s not personal.
With women it is….very.
Thank you for unwittingly supporting my view.
(I suppose I should hasten to add, lest someone presents a contrarian view, that this axiom is not universal but generally true.)
So true. Thanks for saying this Betsyj.
We’re just built differently, CN.
In every way.
A man I knew well framed it like this…
Boys/men will beat the crap out of one another, shake hands after, and move on.
Girls/women (especially in high school) will nip at one another’s heels and keep on keeping on.
Yep.
Anyone who has driven carpool with 5 teenage girls will immediately grasp what you are saying. 😉
Been there with my oldest, sis, once upon a time. I must add she was the target, not the one dishing it out. In the end I had to pull over and eyeball the miscreant who, believe me, got the message.
Amen.
Sweet….
Most women fear losing an argument more than death. It is the way we were built and most likely protects our children.
Is that why everything is Hubby’s fault?
Remember when PDJT & Melania during term #1 entertained Xi at Mar-A-Lago and Ivanka’s little girl sang to Xi in Mandarin?
Then after dinner one night, while eating chocolate cake with Xi, PDJT told XI that the MOAB was being dropped as they spoke. Wonder if anyone has that photo of that event? PDJT had a funny little smirk.
I believe that VSGPDJT is also puffing up Xi so that Xi feels important. Saving face is part of their culture.
Xi will be spoken about as though he is an important, intellectual leader but, in the end, Xi cannot bend to Trump because he would lose his honor.
China is a British Crown colony since the Opium Wars.
I note that in the EO Hong Kong is specified, but not Macau. Does anyone know why?
Interesting. Way back when Chyna was taking over HKG some bad stuff was happening, but Macau was left out of some of it. I can’t remember the details, but I remember that one. Something “special” about Macau.
I’m no trade specialist but I’m glad DT watched the horrific reactions to the tariffs and reined it in. Perhaps that was always the goal but if he loses the investment community he’s lost retirees as well. I was hating watching a tariff tit for tat causing a meltdown.
Perhaps his plan was a good one but you can’t go it alone. You’ll lose the House if you get too headstrong and then it’s all a lost cause.
Keep China as the focus of correction and not the west.
“Loses the investment community.” – The investment community is primarily Democrat. He has a few here and there (Bill Ackman comes to my mind), but in general, they are your typical New York liberal.
Here is the latest from Mr. Ackman (👍) for you:
https://alexberenson.substack.com/p/billionaire-investor-bill-ackman
Greg, I don’t think Pres Trump reined in anything. The reaction that he got was exactly what he hoped and planned for. Having spent my working life negotiating deals you cannot be afraid. You go for it. You don’t win every time but when you do you learn from it and move on to the next deal a little smarter.
AI explains The Art of the Deal:
Lana, As a former deal maker I can add one more.
After asking a closing question, the first one that talks loses.
When President Trump upped the tariffs on all the worlds countries, he was in essence asking a closing question
Everyone of them spoke first. They burned up the phones calling to make a deal. They were the first ones to speak. All their bravado is gone. Please make us a deal.
Love it.
Works like a charm! And people still go crazy over it!
.
Deal negotiating is an art. One technique is for (usually) the lawyer to go irrational and emotional on some point, so that the “calmer heads” can overrule him and prevail beyond what they otherwise could have got. Sowing a little chaos and getting things worked up in order to then calm things down can work well. But… haha… sometimes that’s not what’s going on. Keep the opposition on edge.
(As for the little guys: Trump and co. have been quite upfront about saying hold on. No sympathy for the Trump doubters, or, for that matter, the puerile who demand instant gratification.)
.
At about 3:25….”Hold on I’m coming…”
I remember the first time that song was subtly played in a playlist during a rally during 2022/23? We all commented here of how hopeful it was to hear.
China is now in the monkey trap. (de minimis tariffs eliminated)
They have their hand grasping the nut inside the jar and the hunter is coming.
The globalists greatest weapon was China/EU and unfair trade…….will the monkey let go the nut and live?
(or will they attempt to keep dumping cheap products into the US and anywhere else they can?)

This thread is about de-minimis tariffs eliminating China dumping cheap products into the USA.

Thank you for saying this, as it is getting out of hand, myself I have been hitting the the red flag.
I think Gen Z’ s parents are irate already. Colleges will have to trim DEI courses and ‘studies majors’ can’t find a Government Job.
Thanks to Trump’s Free/FAIR Trade, China based TEMU’s revenues will soon be ‘de minimis’!
Et tu, Walmart, Amazon???

I order stuff from china sometime and they always declare value as gift or a few buck (mostly gift). How would USA enforce that?
It won’t matter… if the postmark is from China, you will be paying extra.
Assuming Amazon has stockpiled in advance. This could completely crush them. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing.
It is time to scrutinize a products point of origin. Purchasing items from Amazon has forced me to do this starting about a year ago. For the most part Chinese products are inferior and sub standard regardless of were they are purchased from but Amazon has managed to seek out the cheapest junk they could find to sell for a profit. (Just my opinion)
This is not about badmouthing a particular mail order company but it has made me look at what I purchase and where it has been made, and also forced me to look at other items or options that are not from China.

The de minimis loophole comes from the 1930s. Who in the 30s could afford a vacation to Paris?
Re “The de minimis loophole comes from the 1930s. Who in the 30s could afford a vacation to Paris?”
Those who deliberately caused the Great Depression and greatly profited from it?
Anywhere losers are found, there will also always be winners…
Btw, in the 30’s first and second class passengers had different customs declarations.
Among prohibited import items were “contraceptive devices” and “pugilistic films”.
China has used that transship evasion tactic for years, sending “components” to Mexico for “final assembly” then export to the USA.
I’ve read the (probably Chinese CCP) propagandist’s posts on X.com, laughing at the “stupid US citizens who are gonna have to pay $4000 for their new Iphones ’cause of Trump’s tariffs”. Well, but the stupid Chinese and/or their American counterparts are engaging in static analysis.
Yes, there WILL be a period where supply chains will be interrupted, causing product shortages, much like … hmmm … lemme recall, yes, I remember that period – COVID 19, the Chinese manufactured and exported VIRUS!!! However, “dynamic analysis” tells us that manufacturers and product selling middleman will change their product and materials sourcing, and manufacturing locations, to supply a hungry US market with things like I-phones, for much less than $4000.
Perhaps even, much less than the average $1000 smart phone cost today. With the Chinese market monopoly broken, truly FREE enterprise will (or can) replace the manufacturing cartels (and yes, I’m looking at you, too, Apple).
Both the market and supply chains will adjust to a world without unethical and/or illegal, Chinese market monopolies. Quite well, too. However, will the Chinese economy? Not so much, I believe. While there is almost an infinite potential supply of “things” made by people and companies who employ them, there’s a very finite number of people in this world who can and will pay to consume those products. Short term for the Chinese, very bad. Longer term, and they may actually achieve a free country with a free economy. Then, look out world!
4,000 dollar iPhones. iPhones are somewhat of a cult. 🙄 Wonder what will happen when people realize life goes on, even without the latest iPhone.
Sung to the tune “One Night in Bangkok”
“One shirt from Shanghai and you’ll be shucking Benjis.
The stuff’s expensive and the junk’s not free.
You’ll feel a bump in every Trump Time order
Can’t be too careful with your duty free.
I can feel a tariff slidin’ up to me.”
Includes Amazon as well.
I studied products (mostly vitamins, supplements and face lotions) I buy from Amazon. I asked their chatbot Rufus if each product was Made in the USA. The vitamins and supplements I use were Made in the USA, the face product line is keeping it a secret. No info. Uh oh. I will contact the company directly. No prices raised yet.
At the grocery store, from what I can tell Walmart is all China or Canada or Mexico which may really be China too.
I am trying to do my part by buying as close to everything Made in USA as possible. (I also like to buy secondhand so then it doesn’t matter who originally made it but of course if its made in USA its better.)
I dearly love my gangsta smart 🫏 president!
His response to a reporter questioning him about China only allowing in four American films as retaliation for increased tariffs:
“Well, I’ve heard of worse things.” (All the while wearing one of his infamous, 💩 –eating, grins!)
Gosh, how are people going to get their Chinese-made analogue drugs?
Melania needs to have a little chat with Donald. She should explain to him that he needs to calm down and take more steady actions with less bombast and swagger. Foreign countries will stop trusting him if he cannot conduct his policies in a stable manner. And, he should not be bragging about killing civilians at Houthi tribal meetings. It is not a good look for the rest of the world.
Oh please.
I specifically voted for bombast and swagger.
You should watch the movie about the local sheriff , who carried a big stick, this is the real life version ,meet President Trump.

We are watching right hear right now the greatest President in the history of the United States. President Trump will go down in history as a top three President. Book it. God bless President Trump. He is saving America.
I have a confession to make- I occasionally buy cheap crap goods from China’s Temu and Ali Express and have been doing so for many years. These purchases are a very small portion of what I buy and maybe it’s only once a month if that.
For the most part I am very satisfied with the stuff I buy- all sorts of things from jewelry to shoes to household stuff. If I bought from Walmart or Amazon I would pay twice as much because there would be third party fees.
I am MAGA all the way and totally support our President Trump- but I have to say that I am not thrilled about having to “take one for team” yet again.
I’m not talking about buying a car or anything that costs more than $10 or so.. Of course I’m not the only one either.
I think that there’s a lot to be said for having a very small minimum amount that isn’t affected by the tariffs. The only people who are going to get hurt by putting a $10 tax on what are essentially dollar store goods are the poor and middle class people who buy these products.
Middle American MAGA people have been bearing the brunt of all the depredations from the FJB years. I know that our great President Trump is moving as fast as he can, but I wish they would take another look at these smaller items and realize just who is going to be affected. It sure isn’t the people who are buying the big ticket items and luxury goods.
I understand your position, but I respectfully disagree. The last thing we should be doing is encouraging any kind of nominal trade with China. Your logic is shared by many, and it’s part of the problem…”I’m only buying a small amount.” Multiply that by the 270,000,000 other people doing the same thing, and suddenly, it’s not such a small number. If these are such cheap items, do you actually need to buy them in the first place? Can you go without them? It’s amazing when I’m in stores and see people buying knickknack imported junk.
I have had difficult times myself, but the last thing I’m ever going to do is buy from a military dictatorship on Alibaba, Temu, etc. I don’t want to purchase from China at all, but for many items, it’s presently unavoidable. I shop online from a company that makes all their clothing in America. It is slightly more expensive, but the quality is much better. I can’t imagine ever ordering something from Temu, I don’t care how cheap it is. Go online and read about all the toxic chemicals/PFAS found in their clothing. That’s what you call the high cost of a low price.
That stuff is cheap because it’s made from toxic materials with slave labor. Trump is literally doing your health a favor by cutting off your shopping addiction.
Exactly. They’ve found toxic chemicals/PFAS in clothes from Temu and Shein.
This article warms my heart
I suspect a late delivery from amazon (where the ghost of the product) says receive in 2 days. It’s been a week and i don’t have it yet. Tracking says not into the USPS system yet. Lets see if i get it repackaged from the transship scenario.
i paid for 1 day shipping and that’s out the window. I am all good with abandoning Amazon for the China Junk stream. But this item is something i needed. It appeared to be locally sourced but I guess not.
Let’s hope this includes all medications. 🙏🏻
If China’s economic model is to make and sell, not buy, there is going to be hunger and famine in China if this model stops abruptly. There will have to be a transition period while they change their economic model. Can they do it overnight? Also the loss of ‘face’ is a very big thing for Xi.
I think the gloating over China’s predicament is inhumane and cruel towards the actual ‘peasants’ who will be impoverished and starving. Their only pressure they can use is their 2 + million army (who will get the available food), and their weapons. Are we so unfeeling or arrogant that we think they won’t do this? Desperate people do desperate things.
China is the fastest growing Christian nation. Let’s hope their prayers will help them because I don’t see too many Western Christians praying for them.
I am not gloating, but I don’t care in the slightest what happens inside China. As I’ve mentioned repeatedly, I want the country to collapse and for their economy to go into a total freefall. Whatever happens as a result of that is their problem. Does China care about us when they lie, cheat, and steal? What about when they flood the market and knock all of our industries out of business? Are they worried about the lives of our middle class that they’ve destroyed? I’m praying for my own country, and I don’t feel the least bit guilty about it.
I see your point, Chris, and I feel much the same. But it is unfortunate that those who would suffer most in a collapse would be the low and middle classes. From a humanitarian standpoint that would be hard to watch. It would be nice if there was some way to resolve these issues without penalizing the poor in either country. I think Pres Trump is a fair man and will negotiate a solution that both nations can live with. At least I hope so.
I’ll be completely honest and say that I don’t care how unfortunate it is. If we fret about that, we don’t have to worry about ever solving the issue. There is no way to “resolve these issues without penalizing the poor in either country.” Negotiating a solution that “both nations can live with” sounds like code for another bad deal. We already got a bad trade deal in President Trump’s first administration. It accomplished nothing, and they didn’t abide by any of the terms. Surprise, surprise. We can negotiate another deal that “both nations can live with,” and I’ll tell you the result. Nothing positive will come out of it just like the first time around. How on earth do you do a deal with another party who lies, cheats, and steals, and doesn’t honor anything they sign? I’ll never forget listening to Ed Rollins on Lou Dobbs. He always said how China would tell you what you want to hear and then do nothing that they promised. This happened again, and again, and again. Some things never change.
We can always help with humanitarian efforts if it ever came to that, but we should never be negotiating based on concern for the other side. That is deeply disloyal to the citizens of our own country.
And extremely foolhardy. Didn’t see any Chinese despondent over the job losses in the USA. The little Princes and Princesses studying at UK universities took full advantage if their privileged status in China. Parents were always CCP.
Interesting that you would bring Christ into the conversation. Gamaliel said when the Jews were persecuting the early church: “But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.” If China is becoming a Christian nation and the USA is getting more and more Godless, you shouldn’t have to worry about the Chinese “peasants”, God will handle it.
Good grief.
So you think that barely scraping by under the Boot of Communism is honoring the God who made them? You think that Chinese people deserve less, much less, than you living in the USA?
The Chinese people are hostages, kept as slaves, forced into abortions, welded into the apartments, punished for their religions, and housed in buildings like they are lab rats.
But you think that breaking communism in China is worse than what they are already suffering through? Reagan broke communism in the USSR. Why not let VSGPDJT do the same in China? We have food. We can feed them when the CCP is in ruins.
My goodness. You would rather them suffer than save them. They need more than prayers. They need rescue.
Do you think a single Chinese person went “Boo hoo, think of those poor Americans we’re taking jobs from” as our economy was being crushed and our towns flooded with Chinese fentanyl?
Heck no. They never gave Americans that level of consideration. You’re a chump if you give them what they never gave us.
Like Sundance has said repeatedly, now is not the time for delicate sensibilities.
Praying for Chinese Christians? Or for the non-Christian Chinese who persecute their fellow citizens for being Christian?
China has no real domestic market. Traditionally, saving rates are extremely high.
I don’t want to see the country collapse on its people either, but at the same time, the US simply cannot keep playing the game of saving the world from any and all consequences.
The only thing that will ever fix China, and I do mean the only thing, is the money getting cut off and people there finally being motivated to take matters into their own hands. Nothing will get better for the Chinese people until they take action for themselves en masse.
Isn’t that similar to de Winnamis…
The wimpy material poorly made discount clothing industry is going to eat it. They won’t be able to afford their catalogs.
About time this happened. The cheap tat falls apart after very few washes.
Ya know,
i think we will survive!
theres some good stuff from china, but overall a lot o junk
” If you order a $20 shirt from China effective June 1st, you will pay $220. $20 for the shirt, and $200 minimum tariff.”

META exec says META collaborated with the Communist Party of China,I have always blamed Nixon for starting it,That president leaned on the idea that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. If China was on America’s side, the Soviets would be off balance.
Nixon had another reason for wanting to get close to the Chinese: He wanted to enhance his own reputation and to go down in the history books as the man who made peace with China. How’d that play out ? https://x.com/i/status/1910339549940589011
I say all the time that Nixon/Kissinger starting relations with China was the worst foreign policy blunder in US history.
Sir Henry Kissinger was a British spy.
