Rick Santelli has been known to call the baby ugly when needed. During an epic panel discussion around the motives and intentions of President Trump’s trade reset, Santelli gets passionate when describing the valid reasons for Trump’s tariffs.
The CNBC panel, mainly Steve Liesman, tries to downplay decades of the working-class being diminished by economic panel, and Santelli was having none of it. Video prompted, WATCH:

Don’t worry, President Trump is implementing shock treatment, that’s exactly what a good economist would do. Just keep fighting inflation, don’t let corporate america raise prices.
Make corporate america work to keep prices down or lose their ass! – they won’t be getting subsidized this time!
They’re not going to be able to sustain monopoly prices in the environment President Trump is creating rapidly, this is our last big hurdle against the idiots.
This will be easier than the election and take less time, it will also come naturally to all of us – just only buy what’s necessary (that’s a good way to live your life anyway: “only what’s necessary”), and think out of the box to find better products at cheaper prices, and if you’re not satisfied with any of their crap use your imagination and do without.
This is a philosophical, theological, patriotic duty, – our last big fight – Hurrah!

Why the US Can Impose Tariffs and Still Remain Attractive to Trading Partners
https://ceobloc.com/blog/why-the-us-can-impose-tariffs-and-still-remain-attractive-to-trading-partners?twclid=217ujlkj6du7bmxyhzdxifae3w
If we can understand that the US has over 7 trillion dollars of debt coming due THIS YEAR, it becomes understandable why tariffs are on the table. Will the stock market crash? Probably, who knows how much. But the Fed has to get their butt whipped so they’ll lower interest rates to the satisfaction of 47. Then when we get this behemoth of a sovereign debt crisis landed we can get on to the next phase. In the process, IMO we’ll see the money printer go BRRRRRRRR again and debase the USD much further. Not good but if anyone can make a deal to help our middle class (me) we got the right man on the job.
CBDC is not on the table. Trump has said this and I take his word on that. SBR, all the Bitcoin ETFs are in play and now they’re looking at a Bitcoin backed bond that has some very interesting upsides, both for the govt and the holders.👀
Keep the powder dry, stay humble and stack sats if you know how. If not, put some time to learn bitcoin! I’m screaming it from the top of my branch over here. 🫡
As other countries debase their currency, to absorb and offset the tariffs, a “strong dollar” actually hurts us, because our products are more expensive to sell into other markets.
So, a little devalueing if the $ is just fine.
All politics is local. All economics is also local. What helps your family and your community is what matters. Nobody but the globalists care what benefits the worldwide trade system or workers in another continent.
I was just thinking; if we had a situation where Wall Street made out like bandits while we stagnated, couldn’t we also have the flip side, meaning middle class doing OK if we’re thrifty and cautious even if Wall Street is taking a bath?

Liesman is a well-known tool
Name says it all.
Fed is always right lap dog. Insufferable.
Why the stock market calamity? It’s because all of these US companies out-sourced their manufacturing over the past 50 years in order to maximize their profits on the backs of the middle class. How about we get the middle class off of public assistance and back to work? Personally, I like Trump’s tariff implementation because they are not truly reciprocal and rather than protect American business and labor, they tend to provide enough of an incentive for them to attempt to compete. Many are approximately half of the tariffs faced by American goods in foreign markets. As an engineer I firmly believe that American ingenuity can make up a lot of the difference and certainly more than enough to compete globally, even against slave labor in many cases. Forward thinking US companies will make technological adjustments to capture additional market share even in markets where there are tariff barriers in place.
So-called American companies were falling all over themselves to move factories overseas so they could make more money. Life has been great for the 1%ers. Particularly with all the deficit spending and inflation over the past 5 years with most of the money landing in the pockets of the 1% . Trump tries to unstack the deck against middle class working Americans, just a little, and the RINO class, limousine liberals, and other globalists are crying out over how bad the economy will be hurt. God forbid their wealth is not growing at an obscene rate and middle class people might actually have a shot at quality jobs.
You mean robot labor?
How does that help the majority of the working class?
The robots need to have people set them up to run their tasks. People need to make the tooling these robots run. Maintanence is high on robotics, need people for that. The face of the jobs change as technology marches on. You always need competent people no matter how much automation comes into play.
Think horse and buggy to automobile. I’m sure many thought the sky was falling then.
The more automated something is the brighter the repairman has to be.
Robots are overhyped. They are still basically dumb machines that can do some sweet tricks when programmed. I wrote code for one that worked on the shuttle. The robots at a McDonalds kiosk still need someone to fill the ketchup, mustard and mayo dispensers and clean them periodically. The fryer needs its oil changed and the burger, chicken and fries need refills. In addition to cleaning, somebody has to go fix the messes created by unexpected power outtages and electronic glitches. The more complex the machinery and electronics, the more frequent the faillures. Surely, you have heard sad tales about anti lock brakes, self driving teslas and rear view camaras failing in some situations or before mechanical parts do. Yes, there will be automation and lots of it. It will not be the human free world the globalists have envisioned.
Theis panel sans Santelli are morons and they cannot even pretend to be smart.
I am bored with their mental vacancy.
This is disgusting! He should be crushed!
Hedge Funds are part of the Wall Street parasites that have sucked the life out of the American manufacturing base. They all need to face the music of the schemes they created and not be bailed out. If they go bankrupt so be it. Returning our country to the people and Main Street means Wall Street and their ilk need to be the ones who pay the price for their Ponzi schemes.
One of major Ukrainian volunteers, Madyar, said – as soon as the war is over, he will grab all of his money and leave the country, because he does not see his future there. So basically people like him took Ukraine, turned it into a kamikaze state, crashed it into Russia, turned it into unliveable wasteland and now plan to leave. This is all you need to know about the kind of people that lead Ukraine right now. Another person – Arsenyi Yatsenyuk – he said on Maidan square in 2014 – “if its bullet to the forehead, then its bullet to the forehead”, as he promised that in case of a war with Russia he would go to the frontline. Where is Arsenyi now? He now lives in the US and gives interviews. This is all you need to know about people that are currently running that “country”. During USSR Ukraine was building helicopters and cars, ships and nuclear powerplants, it was one of the most industrialised countries in Europe and had 50 million people with population going up, now its a Call of Duty map where western pharma tests their products on humans and where people are shoved into mini-vans like farm animals.

Santelli deserves a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Wasn’t he also the “You Lie!” guy?
I have a vague memory that he stood up at some key moment way before PDJT and pointed out some scathing truth…
Wait – handed my question to the Brave browser’s AI guy Leo, pretty good:
Rick Santelli is best known for his famous comment made on February 19, 2009, on CNBC. During a live broadcast from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Santelli criticized the government’s plan to subsidize homeowners who were delinquent on their mortgages. He accused the government of “promoting bad behavior” and suggested the possibility of a “Chicago Tea Party” to protest these policies, which many credit as igniting the Tea Party movement as a national phenomenon.
He said stuff later that more directly got the tea party rolling, but hnwas 100% reght about enabling people to buy and stay in homes through fraudulent mortgages.
Thank you, Sundance!
Global corporations followed cheap labor. Supply vs. Demand. American companies could not compete with cheap ((fill-in the blank: Chinese, Indian, Taiwan, Vietnamese) labor and were forced to off shored labor or disappear. We lost our machinery, know-how and creativity to make things. Stunningly, we lost the manufacturing of things we need for our national defense. (Think chips and medicine). Combine this strategy with a central bank (that is neither federal nor reserve), whose a monetary system is based on debt (selling US’s bonds to foreign countries) and based on fiat currency (debt notes) not tied to gold, silver any commodity under US control(yeah that petro dollar didn’t help millions of Americans in the 1970s-I remember the odd-even license plate days standing in line to get gas). Perfect system for those who set it up to steal the labor energy of those involved. And, that doesn’t count the immoral laws, policies, rules and regulations or the “off the books money laundering of USAID.
Yes!
And don’t forget steel.

What I told everyone (including here) before the election is Both Sides had a visible TRACK RECORD.
Trump had his first term and Biden (actually Obama) had his.
Trump put tariffs on Iron, Steel, and Aluminum in his first term ands everyone screamed inflation, Inflation, INFLATION>
When Trump left office inflation was 1.4%.
Now he is putting tariffs on everything and everyone.
We shall see, but I can see both track records.

The absolute erosion of moral hazard in the financial world has unveiled a dark underside of the human soul. These “Experts” have all been programmed to optimize production for the maximization of consumption. In a vacuum, this is the essence of true capitalism. however in the modern reality of mega corporations its a recipe for bifurcated society. The true strength of our capitalist system is small business not big business as many globalists believe. The US is a consumer nation and without those small businesses the consumer base erodes and dies. This is the key metric the experts keep overlooking. Since the 1960’s the middle class in America has absolutely been the beneficiary of a raw deal from the “Experts” at the federal reserve. They’ve essentially been inflated out of their standard of living and forced to abandon the traditional American family life and have both parents enter the workforce. This started a real transformation of the electorate as subsequent generations were raised differently all the way till today where kids are raised largely by technology. IN the end the biggest thing we’ve lost is community, and strangely I believe Covid was engineered to make that permanent.
There is no way to predict the effects of Trump’s tariffs, there is no way to know whether it will be a success or a failure, but one thing is absolutely certain. The current trajectory of the USA is 100% unsustainable and will lead to an economic civil war in short order. So bravo President Trump for having the courage to try.
Your appreciation of the current situation and atmosphere is well considered and accurate. This response is essentially an effort to say thanks for sharing.
Perhaps a paraphrase of F.A. Hayek can be provided where he summed the attitude of those who believe they know better —
“Democracy cannot be allowd to ‘interfere’ with the plans of the administrative state. The key objective will be disrupted and undone by such meddling. ‘Progress’ will be stopped. The coercive powers of the state must therefore be unleashed to insure that ‘progress’ and attention to ‘threats’ are maintained.”
Trump’s Golden Age
Back to the Gold Standard ?
Just asking .
Maybe, maybe not. There are reasons the world moved away from the gold standard. Some of those reasons are no longer valid, others remain so. Digital transactions have many strengths, a gold standard keeps countries honest.
This trade reset is EXACTLY one of the reasons I voted for Trump. This whole process is what the US desperately needs if we are to survive and thrive into the future. My life has been made pretty damn hard by the globalist parasites. I’m glad to see this outrageous theft put to a stop.
Also, and I cannot possibly stress this point enough: screw communist China.
Nearly four decades ago I lived in a small country where locally made jeans were more expensive but these were good quality and were passed on from the older to the younger and my sister-in-law also passed on clothes from her older children. Then cheaper clothes were imported from the far east. Not only did this destroy the local manufacturing but the quality was much poorer and they wore out quickly. We had a local expression that cheap products were costly. This did not matter to the wealthy experts but it sure did to poorer people.

We are in a paradigm shift. Trump is dismantling the globalist economic order that has failed our nation for decades. Whether Trump does it or not this system cannot last much longer with the untenable debt levels we’re in.
Liesman is a member of the progressive “dislike America, more government spending” globalist gang. He is so ignorant that he can’t even understand that once more things are made/sold in America, that sales/property/income tax revenues will more than make up for the reset in tariff income that Trump is “currently” using to make America wealthy again by reducing our debt/deficits, government spending, and interest rates.
Average folks simply don’t get what Trump just did….
The entire Chinese business model (Communism) is to steal IP and use slave labor to control the means of production for the world. That’s it…
Trump’s Tariffs just put a stop to that …..COLD.
China’s big problem is they don’t consume anything(relative to production), they only produce and as such their entire business model is dependent on exports. Trump’s Tariff plan just leveled the playing field for the rest of the world.
In short, no other world leader has done as much to combat Slavery since Abraham Lincoln.
I laugh at the people who turn around and say Ronald Reagan is rolling in his grave as Trump levies tariffs….Then I remind them that Reagan beat Communism using Economic power, not military power.
Santelli was a leading voice in the beginning of the Tea Party. He has the chops.
