Two people close to the administration, overheard the brother of someone who works at the White House saying something about tariffs. Therefore, it has to be Howard Lutnick’s fault, or something.
Another source “familiar with the situation,” because he looked up The White House on Google to see a map of the area, said it was “100%” accurate that annoyance with Lutnick is growing, reiterating concern about him talking too loosely in public as well as inserting himself into the administration action.

Just curious here. Has anyone interviewed Wilbur Ross recently to hear his views on these tariffs? Where he had such a prominent roll in economic policy in Trumps last administration, I wonder what his opinions might be.
Wilbur was interviewed on FOX Larry Kudlow a few days ago. He was lukewarm on the tariffs.
Ross was solidly in favor of the broad tariff of 20%. He felt reciprocal tariffs could be gamed like they were with USMCA.

I heard an interview with Howard Lutnick, and I was very impressed. He seems a very smart guy, a happy warrior who was devastated when his company was wiped out on 9/11. His people were in the top floors of tower 2, and none made it out.
He also described going to Bethesda Naval hospital and meeting with wounded troops. He would bring CD’s and walkman players to give to the injured, and his wife would quietly take the family members aside and hand them a check for a year of their mortgage.
I found him very likable.

Though I disagree with his conclusions, the above excerpts from Gerry Nolan at TheIslander seem to me to be quite astute.
My conclusion is that in order to save the US from a false and precarious globalist economy, President Trump is pulling down the western system and getting the US back to realizing in fact the nature of wealth and reviving the means to accumulate it – through energy, minerals, and manufacturing here in the US.
I think that there will be some very difficult and chaotic months ahead economically, but I am hopeful that in a year or two, there will be noticeable differences that portend a more stable, grounded economic future for the US.
Trump will be vindicated as he always is. It’s sad to see so many small minded people who can’t see past five minutes in front of their faces.
I don’t even think the following months will be that bad, honestly. Many countries like Vietnam are already pulling back or even erasing tariffs and more will follow. Trump is the shock to the system like Milei was for Argentina. It may be uncomfortable, but we already lived through hell with Biden.

Lutnick is going to become an ethical nightmare for Trump as Lutnick continually oversells his investments, i.e., his $billions that he brags he owns in Bitcoin and crypto which he is pushing to include in the sovereign wealth fund. Lutnick does propose half-baked ideas that are not only unethical, but illegal, such as the government strong-arming any corporation that wants to win a federal contract into issuing preferred stock for the benefit of the government. The potential conflicts of interest are enormous. His company stood to profit if Britain can execute its scheme to clear ALL U.S. Treasury futures contracts in London. Lutnick’s company was applying for the futures license to run the operation. When Sen. John Cornyn raised this London scheme at Scott Bessent’s confirmation hearing, Bessent agreed that would be disastrous for the U.S. as Treasury would cede control of the largest, most liquid bond market in the world to London and vowed it would not happen on his watch.
Lutnick is a carnival barker and I hope Trump dumps him before it is too late.
