Both the Kremlin and Trump administration release statements conveying agreement to a drawdown in combat and a 30-day ceasefire of hostilities beginning with a stoppage of energy and infrastructure bombardment.
President Trump releases the following message via Truth Social: “My phone conversation today with President Putin of Russia was a very good and productive one. We agreed to an immediate Ceasefire on all Energy and Infrastructure, with an understanding that we will be working quickly to have a Complete Ceasefire and, ultimately, an END to this very horrible War between Russia and Ukraine.
This War would have never started if I were President! Many elements of a Contract for Peace were discussed, including the fact that thousands of soldiers are being killed, and both President Putin and President Zelenskyy would like to see it end. That process is now in full force and effect, and we will, hopefully, for the sake of Humanity, get the job done!” ~ Donald Trump

(Via Reuters) – MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump for Russia and Ukraine to stop attacks on each other’s energy infrastructure for 30 days and ordered the Russian military to cease them, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
[…] “The Russian side outlined a number of significant points regarding ensuring effective control over a possible ceasefire along the entire line of combat contact, the need to stop forced mobilisation in Ukraine, and the rearming of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” it said.

The message from President Trump has been very direct and straightforward, stop the killing. The rest is details that can be worked out amid the parties involved. The blunt truth behind the message is an affirmation for peace.
Strategically, the renewal of a relationship between the U.S. and Russia allows President Trump to enlist the assistance of Putin on the issues of Iran and the middle east. Again, more peace.
Building reasonable economic ties that mutually assist each nation is another step toward stability, mutual respect and peace. Nothing about this is too complicated, yet it runs counter to traditional geopolitical approaches that create conflict within the space when talking stops.
Russia and Ukraine stop destroying energy and infrastructure. Then they stop maritime conflict in the Black Sea. Then eventually, shortly, all ground fighting stops at the current geographical lines of conflict, and talks of long-term peace begin.

If Presidents Trump and Putin make a private decision to NOT go to war, there is precious little the EU/WEF alliance can do about it.

I’ve read quite a few of Trump’s books. He genuinely cares for people in a way most people can’t grasp. So when he talks about all the people who have died in the war, stopping that is of utmost importance to him.
The last part about freezing along the line won’t happen. There’s still a lot of territory that is now constitutionally Russian held by Ukraine. Russia is winning and there’s little reason to stop. The US might be willing to agree to terms agreeable to Russia but Ukraine won’t agree. I know that the current Ukrainian regime couldn’t survive and I don’t think even Putin can survive leaving any claimed Russian territory. This is window dressing for the move towards normalization of relations between the USA and Ukraine.
Will that be enough to slap down the Europe attempt to put boots on the ground?
Germany currently can not field one battle ready division,..and Germany is probably the most militarily prepared of the EU countries on the continent.
They would have to carry out an effort comparable to what the U.S. did, prior to WW2, in terms of converting their industrial capacity to producing armaments, and they don’t have the energy, capacity or will.

This not a ceasefire at all. It is merely the stopping of Russia bombing Ukraine’s energy system which is 75% destroyed already.
Russia can keep bombing everything else – troop gathering points, vehicles and warehouses, ships in ports, headquarters, etc.
This very small bone Putin gave to Trump gives Trump some good press and Russia will use this time to rebuild massive missile stockpile. To be used if Ukraine breaks the agreement or timed perfectly for Russia’s spring-summer offensives.
Fighting will continue along the entire combat line and accelerate. Nothing stops. There is no peace. The energy bombing is not that important to Russia now and they have other more important things to bomb like UK unloading ships of weapons in Odessa.
Putin threw another small bone to Trump. 173:173 (1 to 1) prisoner exchange. Trump really lost on that one because he still thinks Russia getting massive losses. NO! Previous prisoner exchanges gave 5-10 times more Ukranians than Russians because that has been the ratio of killed/captured. Ukraine is loosing massively more soldiers and Russia has thousands of Ukrainian prisoners. Heck Russia just picked up another thousand prisoners in Kursk recently.
Trump did not agree on any of the real issues for a lasting peace that Russia wants. Russia the winner sets the terms.
The Russian readout and comments are different than in the West. Wests is all about show and narrative. Russia is all about real final total war game results.
Bottom line:
1) they are talking and talked about many general things that is good.
2) they moved the needle maybe 1% of the way to a lasting peace agreement.
3) Putin does not trust Trump, the US, or any in the West to uphold any agreements. Even Trump has broken international agreements – INS agreement his first term.
4) None of the above is valid if Ukraine does not agree or violates the energy bombing ceasefire.
If that happens Putin will come back hard – very hard because he had time to make another 400 missiles.
So Russia gave Trump a nice publicity statement for the West who cares about narrative. Meanwhile Russia is accelerating the fighting and winning more and more. Plus Ukraine will not agree to any of this as they tried to invade Russia again yesterday in Belgorod while Kursk is being cleaned up – massive dead bodies and equipment. If Trump really wants peace he needs to stop supplying weapons and money to Ukraine and Israel and tell them to behave. Show peace by actions not words.
