In my estimation, medicare/medicaid could be twice as good with half the money. Put old school nurses and physicians back in charge, make the administrators support the quality health care to the patients, return high level care to rural communities.

Im not real sure, and id love to ask Trump, but I think he’s leaning towards abolishing the federal income tax. The guy thinks “big” like past horizons “big”. Once you obviously solve the problem why feed the banks more? And banks are the bedrock of our money problems. As Mike Benz has pointed out, they do nothing that doesn’t have an ulterior motive. For instance, he claims that for political reasons they funded irrigation systems in Afghanistan so the poppy crop wouldn’t dry up and heroin sales drop.

In the wake of the election of John F Kennedy, the US launched into a number of save the world projects focused on economic development and thwarting hegemony by the Communists and USSR world wide via economic as well as military assistance efforts.
In 1961, Congress passed a FUNDING BILL Mechanism for use as repository for CONGRESSIONALLY AUTHORIZED Funding to cover related projects proposed by the US Executive Branch. It was called the 1961 FOREIGN AID AND ASSISTANCE ACT, an Act to promote the foreign policy, security, and general welfare of the United States by assisting peoples of the world in their efforts toward economic and social development and internal and external security, and for other purposes.
Pursuant to its CONSTITUTIONAL Responsibility and Authority, the US Executive Branch, under President John F Kennedy, created the USAID Organization to IMPLEMENT PROJECTS AND SPEND the Foreign Aid and Assistance funds AUTHORIZED by Congress under the ACT.
Since 1961, the ACT has been “updated and amended” to unfortunately evolve into the piggy bank for abuse it is today. In parallel succeeding Presidential Administrations have either allowed USAID to evolve on it’s own with changes to the 1961 ACT or mandated changes directly…helping spend the money in the piggy bank.
Think of it, in today’s form, as a massive quid pro quo machine between Congress – Executive Branch – Foreign Entities – NGO’s.
The ugly truth of the problem 2017-202o was that President Trump did not have control over the Executive Branch of the Government and he lacked the experience as well as services of loyal advisors and congressional support to assert full control … that is the reason it was like there were 2-Executives operating simultaneously in DC at the time. Fast forward to today … lessons learned are now being applied.

I kinda realized something yesterday while watching Glen Greenwald’s podcast: as is the case with much of alterative media of his sort… analytical heavy-hitters like Greenwald and Bannon, right down to more tuned-in “pop” figures like Rogan, Brand, Dore, et al… an analytical review of mainstream news reporting is CRITICAL to their content. Not just regurgitating headlines and stories… but actually digging into them… all of the nuances and hidden meanings. In fact, without the biased narratives coming from FNYT, WSJ, WaPo, CNN, MSNBC, Fox, et. al, the analysis wouldn’t be possible, and we’d be in the dark!
Consider the pipeline:
1.) Something happens in government, at which point government actors want to spin a narrative
2.) “Officials not authorized to speak” go to their Propaganda Outlet Of Preference (POOP) to effectuate said narrative
3.) Deep, and generally unbiased, analysis proceeds on the product of step #2 within alternative media circles
The obvious media bias and narrative spinning is called out, but, more importantly, hidden betwixt and between the elements of The Narrative, is some vector pointing toward The Truth. If you become adept at parsing The Narrative, The Truth revealse itself. Sundance is an absolute MASTER of this, of course, but many others in the alternative media space have becomes very skilled at providing the same type of breakdowns for consumers.
So I say: we need to do WHATEVER WE CAN to keep those biased media outlets pumping out the establishment narratives… otherwise we lose the visibility.
The REAL problem is when the uninformed stop at item #2, and don’t think for themselves, don’t seek out any analytical viewpoints… they just take Number Two at face value… i.e., the POOP.

I swear, some people are NEVER happy. It has only been a couple of weeks and the guy has already done more for this country than any other president in my lifetime (I was born in 1955).

I understand the government employees needing to return to work. Due to a change in circumstances my husband (retired military) will be unable to return although he would like to. He stays home with my mother who moved in with us during COVID and cannot stay home alone due to health issues. My mother is refusing to go to an adult daycare. EO just told my husband he cannot have a reasonable accommodation although his boss was in support. I am wondering if any of you have any suggestions – to include other remote opportunities – he does have a top secret clearance. It seems that most of the people, including his HR are against the buyout. If he takes the buyout he needs to find a remote job – I am worried about that.
If he is retired military, he has a pension.
He took the job knowing he had to go to work.
Covid came and he stayed home and became a babysitter too.
Now he has a conflict. Go to work or quit. Lots of new mother are making the same choice today. Going to work or staying home with their young family.
Be happy he has pension. Many don’t.

My husband is retired military. The pension, and medical is wonderful, especially because we were just a one income family.
Taking care of parents can be a hard choice, but one day they will be gone. We are so glad to have had the time with ours.

You can stay home with your mother or hire someone to take care of her.
You can offer someone room and board and a small salary in exchange for babysitting your mother during your shifts.
You can work opposite shifts and opposite days off of your husband so you don’t have to spend as much money paying someone to babysit your mother.
By the way: This is what people all over America have to do everyday. They have children and elderly parents, too. They have to make sacrifices all of the time for years and years. I work in a 24 hour business and I see parents working all sorts of shifts and days off so that the kids/parents mostly have someone there.

You mother can’t be home alone but refuses to go somewhere that could take care of her while you/your husband work? Or do you not want to PAY for care for her when you were able to have your husband take care of her when he was SUPPOSED to be working? Sorry, many of us have had to make hard choices over the years regarding family/work balance and sometimes the options are less than perfect…

I am not trying to be snarky – I had two young children, one of whom was struggling terribly in school, so my husband and I had to make the very difficult decision to live on one income so that I could homeschool them. Just when I got them through high school, my widowed mother was diagnosed with dementia, and all my plans to go back to work, in order to finally be able build up a retirement fund, went out the window!
Sometimes, we have to make decisions that are impossible…if your mother is a flight risk, then she may have to be told that her options are a full time memory care facility or going to some type of “daycare” while you and your husband are at work. My mother was compliant at first but became increasingly hostile as I had to step in and stop her from doing things she wanted to do. It is not easy and I am sorry that you are going through it. I hope that your husband’s employer will give him an accommodation…
BTW, I did not assume that your husband was not working as I clearly stated in my response but I do not understand why your husband’s employer is not being reasonable to ask him to return to the office, as he should not be “taking care” of anyone during the hours they are paying him to work. I have a niece who wants to continue working from home, but she also takes time out, quite often, in the middle of the day to run her kids around to activities, or to go volunteer at their schools, while she is supposed to be “on the clock”. She says that she is still able to get her work done, so I see both sides of it, but since she works for a government agency, I wonder if we the taxpayers should be paying her for 40 hours of work when she seems to be able to get everything accomplished in only 20-30 hours per week?
That is not our situation. His office is in the apartment we made for her which basically prevents her from leaving. She has mild dementia and wants to go home. Also, they eat lunch together. He/they do not leave. If I owned a business I would expect my employees to be at work. I am not mad about it. Just trying to see if anybody is aware of any good remote options. We were not well prepared as my husband’s supervisor assured him they were exempt.

Close to fifty years ago, right before my son was born, my husband was laid off. Could NOT find another job and our funds were running low. I ended up going back to work fulltime and my husband stayed home to care for and raise our son. We learned how to live on one income, simply because we had to.
Not sure from your post, but it seems you are both working? If so, I’d figure out (together) who gets the best benefits, the highest salary, the best chances at promotion. That’s the person who works and the other cares for your Mom. Unless you put your foot down, explain things to your Mom, and just say, “Tomorrow, I’ll drop you off at the Senior Center and pick you up at five.”
Not trying to be mean here, but unless your Mom is disabled or has cognitive issues, she’s messing things up in your household.
Last suggestion: get a doctor to certify your Mom is capable of decision-making. Then get an attorney. You all sit down and your Mom’s Social Security and any other assets are assigned to you so that you can afford to hire a daycare person in your home.
Good ideas. We have a letter of incapacitation. She does have cognitive issues and it wasn’t mean – she is messing things up, but until it is too bad I feel a sense of duty to take care of her as I have worked in nursing homes in the past and don’t like what I saw. I could hire one I just don’t think it would last – she’s difficult. I should have been more clear in that I’m wondering about other remote options. I appreciate you being respectful and not assuming we are lazy freeloading whiners like others did.

Let me explain something as a former CEO: Audits are good things if you’re not crooked, but disastrous if you are. If you’re crooked then you try to make sure the auditor is someone you approved and who will deliberately not look in certain places.
Ergo the last thing I want is for the Senate (or any other inside job folks) approving who does the audit if I have any reason to believe there is something crooked going on.
Anyone who believes there has been nothing crooked going on in the US Government and its payment systems is several cans short of a sixpack.

Politico should not survive this. To take millions of dollars from the entity you are covering and not let your readers know about it is a huge breach of journalistic ethics. Hopefully, this leads to major investigations because does anyone actually believe it costs $447,998 for 37 subscriptions to a news site? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck.
