Here is the game plan that the forces against Trump will be using for the foreseeable future.
They will attempt to get you to make the perfect the enemy of the good.
Be it the freedom clowns and spending, the immigration hawks with H1B visas, the peace doves with timing, the cultural warriors with total bans of DEI/CRT, the neocons with war fighting, or the swamp dwellers with draining the swamp.
All of them will attempt to get you to believe on whatever issue is the issue of the day that it doesn’t go far enough or do enough.
They will try to make you think that some sub issue of that issue is more important and should be handled first, that since the issue hasn’t been handled yet it won’t be, that we can’t do more than one thing, that so and so is a plant to stop the draining of the swamp, or that because it wasn’t 100% Trump lied. On every single issue, one or more groups will attempt this strategy.
You can’t allow them that power over you. If Trump secures the border and deports 2 million, don’t allow them to reduce that good by them saying well he didn’t deport 2.5 million, so he failed or lied.
You can’t allow them to use the perfect to void out the good in the coming months.
They will try. They already have with the CR and the H1b visa debates. It works, that is why they use it.
You have to keep it in the front of your head on everything about to occur that half a loaf or hopefully in most cases 7/8ths a loaf is better than no loaf.
Do not allow them to gaslight you into thinking the good is the enemy of the perfect.
In the real world, most things are never perfect, but if we try real hard, we can get plenty of good accomplished in the coming 4 years.

Don’t know about the federal employees unemployment system, but when I have been unemployed in Oregon, they want a list of your weekly applications and detailed information about said contacts.
I don’t know about feds either. But what I wrote is how it should be. In years past there were random phone calls from the unemployment office to inquire about the alleged job search.
I know because I once had a roommate who took off on a three week vacation. When that office called I answered with the truth.
My roommate dared get worth at me haha

It will take a large effort to sort through the deception but it will happen.
I know Florida has a pretty strict rule for doing job applications in order to qualify for unemployment.

This is problematic for stocks independent of any crash potential. Inflation has persisted, energy prices are back up to interim highs, unemployment is going up, job hiring is frozen, and the manufacturing sector is contracting.
Federal reserve rate cuts won’t help. They do not provide “stimulus.” Rate cuts are a sign of economic weakness, not strength. The Fed is not leading the interest rate market. They are following the market down.
Of course, a recession could trigger a market crash. But even if it does not, recessions are typically associated with 30% declines in stock valuations over a year or less. The investment strategy for a recession is substantially the same as the crash strategy.

Not sure why you say this. The article by Rikards is right on. The stock market is enormously overbought, meaning that stocks are trading well above their fair market value. The current stock market average is 3 standard deviations above its historical mean, signalling an over valued market. Hence, the stock market is fragile right now and susceptible to any large economic event.

Gently, softly, calmly, let’s talk about what’s happening in DC right now. Friends, have you ever been through a ZBB process? If not, let me give you my take. So, in a corporation where expenses are out of control, you have to put the entire company through a zero based budgeting process.
It is one of the most painful things that people in a company experience. You basically have to justify every. single. expense. And you also cut a bunch, and then only add back after you’ve gone through a proper ZBB cycle. The US government is going through a ZBB right now.
And that is necessary because spending is out of control. The complexity is so vast that I expect it will take AI to decipher. You cannot tell me that a government that accidentally wires hundreds of millions of dollars to the Taliban has its finances in order. That signals an underlying disaster. That signals bad stewardship of resources.
In fact, it is a disaster. Over the last 20 fiscal years, the US government has made ~$2.7 trillion in “improper payments,” according to the US Government Accountability Office. Trillion! With a T!
That financial management disaster was not caused by @elonmusk. And there is no painless way to clean it up. Elon is doing what any executive would do walking into a giant mess. You ZBB and then build back. So, I don’t believe that America is going to be on the wrong side of global right and wrong, as some are saying. I don’t believe that America is going to be permanently isolationist. I do believe that unwatched finances will get out of control in any human system, and that the GAO has been trying to ring this bell for years, and that scaled complexity requires scaled financial management.
Because the US has the largest budget in the world, it will now go through the single most complex ZBB ever undertaken in the history of the world. Some states do ZBB, but it’s never been done at the federal level.
President Jimmy Carter tried, but the bureaucratic systems were too complex, and President Ronald Reagan abandoned the attempt. So, if there is one person in the world chosen to lead this Grand Canyon of projects, we would hope for the president to choose one of the best capital allocators on the planet. Better if that human is also one who can leverage AI and technical talent to manage the massive complexity.
Anyone who has lived through a ZBB at the corporate level will tell you that it’s hell and everyone hates it. This is why I feel really bad for federal workers — I have a lot of empathy for civil servants and people doing a great job every day for the United States. No doubt, the uncertainty is trying and stressful for many. It’s an unfortunate situation. So, that’s my take. I don’t want to speak beyond what I know and can observe from the other side of the country. I’ve worked both in the private sector and the public sector — the cultures are different.
And an Elon-Musk-style culture is going to be the most hard core of them all. No doubt, it’s jarring. It’s gonna be a lot. But what I also know is that every time I have ever doubted Elon, I ended up being the one who was wrong.

I appreciate your perspective. Having been in the private sector my entire working life, I have been at the mercy of employees in the public sector, e.g. the SSA. I have disdain for those who abuse their duty of service, and I am grateful for those who were/are stewards of the public trust. As a retired management accountant (aka Controller) I was never in doubt that my job was to safeguard the financial condition of the company that employed me, & to also safeguard the wellbeing of the employees who depended on their paycheck. My specialty was saving companies whose owners had run their own companies into the ground financially. It was a challenging & fulfilling career, but sometimes very painful.

Well, that is an interesting take on what is happening. But having experienced *some* of the inefficiency of government workers who really don’t know their job, I feel that there must be a problem in the hiring of more knowledgeable people who can actually tell you something instead of making you jump hoops, file more paperwork by fax, stay on hold for hours (or waiting by the phone for a call back), and doesn’t refer you to another office who then tells you that you have to get the first idiot to do X with some more paperwork completed and faxed before she/he can do anything.
One problem is how politicized the government bureaucracy is.
You have incompetence and nepotism and so forth in private industry as well, but bringing partisan politics into it makes it much worse.
Good people don’t get promoted if they don’t “know somebody”.
Some people think the civil service prevents this. That doesn’t reflect the reality.
And what about the SES? From all I’ve read, I hope they get rid of it.

I would add that the Marshall Dillion approach here is correct. This is not just an organization gone amuck in inefficiency. This is an evil institution, “Mordor on the Potomac” and this is a long time coming. “Following the money” is a time tested method of finding the crime, and these are very real crimes.

So I did take a job in the private section (with a pension) where results matter. Can’t remember the last time I dealt with a bureaucrat who had a “how do we make this happen” problem-solving attitude. I don’t see them as evil just it seems like they took the easy path. Most of us are looking at low-level functionaries when we interact with a federal bureaucracy.
I could argue this all day, but there’s my point- the us versus them resentment, based solely on job choice.

Oakdale school in Waukegan Illinois stopped teaching in English and sent some paperwork to all parents.

The most important factor I’ve seen in the school district is the support of the parents.
And the corollary, classroom discipline. Too many students cannot behave for literally 2 minutes straight, and disrupt constantly and even create danger, and nothing substantial is ever done (because of fears of racism and other concerns). THAT is destroying our schools.

I have my doubts about that. Or, I’ll state it in a different way; the consequences are too grave to allow Bondi to have free reign.

Before every flight the pilot needs to get a signed weather report. I drove to flight-line and the weather was fog zero zero visibility. I went in the windowless “weather shack” and the weather man gave me a clear to go report. I told him step outside and see it for himself. He refused and gave me a go.
I walked to the flight line and found my assigned aircraft tail number in the fog. I started my “bird” and contacted tower. Tower obviously cancelled the flight instantly.
Pilots use the phrase “Wild Ass Guess” (WAGS) when it comes to weathermen. Pilots use “PIREPS” for accurate weather conditions. PIREPS are inflight weather reports by other pilots. “WAGS” have gotten a lot of people unintentionally killed over the years.
Anyone talking about “vital weather service” is a “bullshitter” and part of the problem, IMO.

One of the comments is about something called Maximus Inc. The guy who posted it says it is tied into numerous agencies like VES, DHHA, Census, SEC, DoD, DoE USAID, Catholic Charites, and NOAA.
He says they get billions in no bid contracts and the company was started by some guy named David Mastran of DARPA.
He says that NOAA decided to stop printing paper ocean navigation charts leaving no backup for compromised satellites.
He goes on to say that this Maximus Inc has had very serious data breaches going on for decades and despite warnings nothing was done about the risks.
Maximus Inc went public in 1997.

They’re the ones that have altered historical data to show cooler temperatures before 1940-1960 to make it look like there’s “global warming.”
Has anybody else noticed that their weather forecasts have gone in the crapper in the last 10 years or so? Back in the 1960’s the 1-day forecast was OK, the 3-day was a guess, and the 10-day didn’t exist. Around 2010 the 1-day was rock solid, the 3-day was as good as the 1-day back then, and the 10-day wasn’t bad. Then it went downhill to where when they said we’d get 1-2 inches of snow, we’d get 10. They’d say 6 inches, we’d get none. (I have to admit that for this last “atmospheric river” they were pretty close – they said we’d get 11-21 inches and we got over a foot and not done yet.)
I hope DOGE finds all kinds of malappropriation going on.

We are celebrating the 230th anniversary of our beloved Constitution — the oldest constitution still in use in the world today.
This timeless document has been the foundation of peace, prosperity, and freedom for the Americans and for countless millions around the globe whose own countries have found inspiration in its respect for human nature, human dignity, and the rule of law.
The greatest in the United States Constitution is its first three beautiful words. They are: “We the people.”
