I understand the argument. However, this is the only crime I know of where an innocent bystander is put to death because of witness to a crime. Not judging your outlook, just thinking about the life.

I have a daughter. I hope she never has to deal with the trauma of being raped. It’s hard to believe I could ‘let the law handle it’ and not seriously harm the perpetrator.

But if that should happen, I would encourage her to have the baby and give it up for adoption. Aborting the baby does not take away the rape or trauma that ensues. But it would condemn her to a lifetime of knowing that baby, who had no part in the criminal act, was murdered on day X. And from talking with some women I know who had abortions, she would think about it every year and know how old he or she would be. And wonder what kind of person they would have been.

Nine months of trauma is harsh. But a lifetime of trauma and regret is worse. IMO.
